    Did your port move?

I thought the same thing because I felt it at a higher point then when I actually went to have my fill it was lower. Mine hurt a lot as well for awhile so I got scared it moved, but when I did my fill, everything was normal. If you can't wait, then call your doctor office.
  4. When I sit down it seems to sink in, and occasionally it pokes out when i'm bloated, but probably when I lose weight I'll see it more sunken in.
  5. When I had surgey 9/7/11 I had 1.5cc and on 10/31 I got 2.5cc making it 4cc total. I feel restriction finally today!

    help with soft food portions

Depends on the cut of the meat. I use thin slices and eat ham, I find turkey and chicken to dry and it's harder to go down. But I eat 2 slices, small bites, and it fills me. Sometimes 3 if I'm starving, but I don't push it.

    First Fill

Well, after reading some post, I realized we all have different experiences when it comes to our fills. So I thought I'd share my story. I have Medicaid, so they cover my fills, which I'm extremely grateful for. So I went to the hospital where I had my surgery at and I waited and waited for them to call me. (I'm an impatient one) I finally went into the room, they told me to put my bag on the chair and sit on the bed. As I looked across from me, I see 2 bottles, one small needle, and one LARGE needle, I started to panic! Let me say this is one longgggggggggg needle! Anyways, they told me lie down and pull my shirt up a bit. I did a GI tract, so they basically x-ray where they port was and while he was hovering around he marked the spot. His assistant comes in and cleans the area. (Part of me was hoping this was the numbing medicine or something, lol) Then she says this is going to pinch and burn. She inserted the needle with the numbing agent and it burned but like a paper cut type of feeling, it was nothing. So I'm just waiting, waiting, for them to put that long needle in. A second later, she is telling me I have 3cc in all together. I'm like huh? Then the doctor looked again on the xray and told me to drink some barium, (yuck! ) and decided to put 1cc more. He told me to drink another sip of the barium, and he said it looks good. So I was like ok, I don't feel anything. Here I am worrying going crazy and she finished before I had a chance to panic again! Lol. I had 1.5cc from surgery and they added, 2.5cc making it 4cc total. So, for anyone who ask if it hurts. I can say it depends on what they do. Some I read have no numbing agent, some don't use x-ray or GI, some doctors just feel around, etc. But If you don't like pain, I'd recommend asking about the numbing agent, you don't feel anything!! Good luck to everyone!!!
  9. Your weight is different throughout the day. Morning it says I lost 3 pds , evening I gained 2pds. So I just weight once a month at the doctor with those scales and it gives a more accurate reading.

    Am I missing something?

I didn't do the pre-op diet, I didn't even know until couple days before and I just did the laxatives I was suppose to do and lost 5pds. I did meet with my surgeon a month prior surgery and that was it. I had the surgery and I'm 6 weeks post op. I don't think you have to worry about anything. My doctor office didn't really put as much effort into giving me info unless I asked. When in doubt, call your surgeon!
  11. I weighed 302 day of surgery. I had a fatty liver. I had my surgery. They don't want you to gain any weight, but I actually gained 5 pds before surgery! I drank some laxatives and lost it the day before, ironic, but I still had surgery. Don't worry about it, just prepare yourself because I didn't learn and now I'm now understanding how to eat smaller portions and smaller bites. They make you do the pre-op diet for a reason. Good luck!

    Chinese Food

I'm 6 weeks post op and ate a bit of lo-mein, but a really small portion and I was full. I find I can eat food, smaller portions and be satisfied. Sometimes I eat a small portion and I'm satisfied all day. Just be careful about what you get and how much you intake. All about calorie/carb intake.
  13. You sound like me! I've been banded for 6 weeks, lost 22 pds but I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm eating less, and smaller portions, and started the gym and I feel amazing. There will always be negativity out there, do what is best for you. I researched everything prior surgery and picked lapband for myself.
  14. Gas-x strips worked better for me then the chewables. I also walked as much as possible. It will go away, I remember how painful it was, but I'm 6 weeks post op and it's crazy how I felt like I was dying and complaining and slowly it went away in 2 weeks. Good luck!

    Almost Have a Date

Good luck! I was so anxious to have my surgery and it kept getting changed, so when I finally had it, I was so excited. Just follow all the doctor orders, it helps. Invest in protein shakes, gas-x, and vitamins. And lots of broths.
