    If You Had Sleep Apnea...

I can't/won't suggest doing things without your doctor knowing- but any doctor worth a flip will know as you lose weight things will change. As I work more with the insurances I don't know much of the different between the lab studies and the home studies- sorry! I can ask one of my RTs this week and get back to you guys. I've never heard of that type of CPAP. Ask me anyhing you want to know about a Respironics, ResMed or FisherPaykel cpap and I'm a fountain of knowledge. I would let your doctor know that you adjusted the cpap and it is running at a lower setting throughout the night and see what he suggests.

    If You Had Sleep Apnea...

Also, I know tha Oxford insurance is pretty much stopping sleep studies done in the labs. There are now machines that can do the sleep studies at home in the comfort of your own bed with no creepy cameras on you all night long. For some of you that may be a better alternative to going into a lab for a night or two.

    If You Had Sleep Apnea...

Hi there- thought I'd chime in although I have never personally used a CPAP. However, I work for a DME company that supplies them. If at any time you feel the pressure is too strong you should call your physician. Our doctors frequently order for patients a two week loaner of an auto cpap. This machine does no have one fixed setting, but a range of settings and it will automatically adjust itself to what corrects your apnea. After two weeks we pick the machine up, do a download from the smartcard and fax the doctor the report. He is able to look at the report and see what pressure you were most often at and able to adjust your current machine accordingly. OR, if you have had your machine for awhile and your insurance will cover a new one- maybe the doctor should just order and auto machine for you to keep?
  6. Hit the 240's just in time for my first post-op nutrition appointment!!

  7. I can tell you at only 10 weeks out this is the best decision I've ever made for myself. In those 10 weeks I've lost 50 pounds and I KNOW it will not be back! We've all been where you are at facing this daunting decision. Make sure you are ready and don't le anyone else talk you into it.

    Chinese Food For Dinner :)

Mmm. Can't wait to do this!
  9. Chin up ladies! You already made it through the scariest part! Just take it easy and focus on healing for now. The pounds start running away very soon!
  10. Morning all, I hope you are all off to a fabulous Monday! Too bad for me- I'm getting a chest cold. This will be my first post-op illness andd it's just in the beginning stages, but I want to be prepared. Post-op illness any different then pre-op? What medications (over the counter) have you taken since surgery to help? So far I'm just feeling achy and post nasal drip into my chest. I turn into a really big baby when I'm sick and I'm just trying to be prepared. Apologies if this is all in a thread found elsewhere- I honestly don't have the time to look for it right now. Thanks! D
  11. I try hard not to complain but lately I'm so exhuasted. I'm sure the reduced caloric intake plays a part- but the fact is I'm just down right busy in my life as a college student, sister, daughter, aunt, office manager and I may have started *dating* again!! Light dating... But that's for another post.. My question is- now that Red Bull and Monster Energy and even coffee is out of the question- what do you guys do when you need a little extra boost? I take my Vitamins including B12... I get in a decent amount of calories from food even... But it's not enough.. HELP!?!?!??!?!?!?

    No Precert Required?

As someone who deals with insurance companies and precert everyday... I know that what you are told is not promise of payment. I would probably ask your cooridinator at the doctor submit everything anyway and get something in writing say it doesn't require precert. I also know that should they deny the claim your surgeons office will end up telling you that it was your job to know your policy. Chances are it doesn't require precert if two people have already been told that, but it can't hurt to get it in writing! Good luck and congrats!
  13. I loved the Fuzzy Navel. I also bought the sample pack. I still have a few flavors left to try. Wish I had remembered them before I made my walmart brand sahke this morning! I like that the Nectar can be mixed with water. My NUT has me mixing the other shakes with milk.
  14. Go0o0o0o0o0 GIANTS!!

  15. This community is a blessing! During my pre-op phase I was on here multiple times a day. And I know you say you wish you had someone to go through this with- but it doesn't really help with all of those feelings. I did this with my cousin- same day in the hospital and all- and sometimes throughout the process I felt alone all the time. Sometimes when I'm looking at the mirror at how my body jiggles in ways it never did before- I feel miserably alone. But it is so worth it and I can not begin to put into words what a miracle this has all been for me. Good luck to you- and we're all here for you!
  16. Going out with my cousin today to celebrate reaching our 50 pound losses by getting mani/pedis and a Clinique makeover!

  17. Around the start of my third week I stalled for a little over two weeks. It was very frustrating. Then one morning I woke up and was down like 4 or 5 pounds. No worries- it will happen!
  18. Hi ATeam, sometimes I feel the same way. Should I be able to eat this much at 8 weeks out? My cousin had bypass the same day as I had my VSG and she is not able to eat any where near what I'm able to eat. I'm still losing weight at a nice pace so I'm not overly worried about it, but I worry if I can eat this much now- how much will I be able to eat in the future?

    December sleevers!

Tomorrow I will be 8 weeks out. To date down 55 pounds and counting! I feel great and love the NSVs more than the SVs. I started out wearing size 22 jeans and I'm in a loose 18 at the moment. Can't wait to hit 16s! I also love doing my vlog on youtube. I can eat pretty much anything besides chicken and have found that I need to get in enough carbs or my weight loss stalls. I went through a two week stall and then another one week stall. But 55 pounds?? I'm happy!!

11 Days Post Op And Regretting Decision.

I was sleeved 12/5/11 and haven't thrown up once, not even in the hospital. I have slimed twice, but that was because I was being silly and not following the rules of no drinking with meals mostly. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks and I am down 55 pounds! If you are still regretting your decision- you won't be for long!
  22. That was so fun to play with. Thanks for sharing!

I Did What To My Hair?

I haven't yet. I've thought about it but I'm waiting to see how much hair starts falling out around the three month mark like everyone says it will. I may decide to cut it off then. My hair is curly now I'd hate to see what it would do shorter! Pictures girl!! Pictures!!!

    Taking The Bandage Off

I had to leave mine alone for the first two weeks. After my two week check up the surgeon told me it was fine to go ahead and start putting Vitamin e on them. I had to wait a month before I was allowed to take a bubble bath which was torture for me! They will get itchy- but be strong and avoid the temptation to scratch because it will just delay the healing. Good luck!
