  1. Sleeved. Getting ready to go for a walk.

  2. Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

  3. So tomorrow is my big day!! I'm so excited but I'm also... HUNGRY!! I only have to do two day of liquids, and my hats off to those of you who have had to do this for weeks! Yesterday wasn't so bad because I could have yogurt and my Protein shakes but today it's only Clear Liquids allowed. I know it will be worth it. I never really thought I would have as hard a time with this liquid part though. Oh well. I'm excited for tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital at 11, and my surgery should be around 1. I can't wait! Please keep me in your prayers and I will be keeping all of you in my prayers!

One Day Until Vsg Surgery !

For the first time ever I won't mind being called a loser! haha
  5. No two week for me. 2 days total liquid diet. First day (today) I'm allowed full liquids, tomorrow will be just clear liquid. Good luck to you!
  6. I'm going Monday too!! Good luck to you!
  7. Thought I would stop by and ask how you are feeling. I know you have been having a hard time. I hope things getting better soon!

  8. I'm so happy for you! You are proof that hard work and not giving up really can get us where we want to be. Congratulations on feeling good in your own skin! Since I have always been big I totally get the appeal of fitting into a size zero- hearing you say that you are happy NOT being a size zero is encouraging! Thanks for all that you do for us here.
  9. How many times did you almost not go through with your surgery? I confess today I was really really close to cancelling. I'm sort of fed up with the office not knowing what they are doing.

    Gastric Sleeve Appointments Overwhelming

Aboutmethistime, I totally sympathize with you. These last three months have been a very big journey! But it will be so worth it in the end. My surgery is on Monday and it seems like it can't be real for it to be here already. I met with my surgeon for the first time the first week of September and my surgery is the first week of December. It will go so quick!
  11. New doctor is okay. He is compitent and friendly. Surgery still on for 12/5.

The Cons Of Gastric Sleeve Life! :-(

I'm usually the person who is always cold, until I started working in the office I work at! It is always so hot and my little fan doesn't help one bit! I wouldn't mind running colder.. At least then I wont feel like the fat girl complaining about being hot! I'm still wearing flip flops to work because to me it is so hot in that office.
  13. So my surgeon is having emergency surgery and will be out for two months. I've never met the doctor they want to do my surgery on Monday. IDK what to do!?

  14. So technically Aetna received all of my paperwork Wednesday in the late afternoon according to their records. It wasn't worked on at all that day because of the time it was received. The nurses weren't there Thursday or Friday in observance of Thanksgiving... I didn't know this until yesterday when I called to check the status. I was freaking out because my surgery is scheduled for 12/5 and I was so scared that I wouldn't be improved in time. I expressed to this to the person at Aetna I spoke with and he suggested that I have my doctor call and mark the case "urgent". So, that's what I did and my coordinator called them to do that as soon as I finished the phone call with her. So technically my case wasn't worked on until sometime yesterday or possibly today. Today at 1:15 my coordinator called to tell me I had been approved!!! I can't believe this! I am so excited!! It almost seems like it was TOO easy! But, my advice to others who have Aetna, talked to your doctor about marking your case "urgent" once they are ready to submit, apparently it really does make things go faster!!
  15. Welcome to SleeveTalk! I too have PCOS. I can't tell you yet how VSG will help, but I'm looking forward to finding out first hand! YouTube has a couple of great videos on VSG and PCOS.

  16. Still nothing from Aetna! I hate waiting! UGH!

    Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake

I just made this shake and it is awesome! I used half an equal instead of slenda, but mmmmm!! Thanks for sharing!
  18. Well, as of 11/23 Aetna has all the paperwork they requested after the initial submission made by my doctors office. The nurses obviously weren't in yesterday (Thanksgiving) and they weren't in today either. Keeping my fingers crossed to hear something back Monday or Tuesday, because my surgery is scheduled for 12/5!! My cousin was approved for her RNY 11/23 and I was so happy for her! I'm so excited for it to be my turn! We really might just pull off having our surgeries together!
  19. Thought I'd see how you are doing! Congrats on getting your surgery!

    Medicaid Question On Vsg Coverage

Here in NY my cousin is having to go with bipass surgery because Medicaid will not cover VSG, They will only cover LapBand or RNY. I'm not sure if each state is the same or not though.

I'm Sleeved And I Have Some Questions

I love that you named your daughter Ophelia. I too plan to name my daughter after my favorite character from a book. After VSG when my PCOS is hopefully resolved I plan on having a little Scarlet. (Gone with the Wind)
  22. Well, Aetna now has all 34 pages of medical documentation showing why I need VSG. The ball is in their court!

  23. Today is the last nut appt, papers will be going to insurance! OMG!

  24. I am doing the three month program required by Aetna. If you go to Aetna's website they have what they refer to as a Clinical Policy Bulletin, look for the one on weight loss surgery. Printing this and giving it to your doctor will probably help them a lot if they aren't familiar. My surgeons office has a wonderful program and I am working with their nutritionist and doctors and they have given me a very specific diet plan that is working well when I follow it the way I should! Good luck to you! How did you get someone on the phone from Aetna?!? I got someone who was hard to understand and who just kept referring me back to the website. I would LOVE to speak with someone who coordinates benefits at the insurance company!
