I'm almost 5 weeks out. Until yesterday the scale didn't really move for 10 days after having lost about 4 #/week. It fluctuated between 1 pound difference from day to day(up .5lbs, then down by .3lbs ect). Finally I had a 1.5 loss. I just so happened to meet with the surgeon yesterday and he said everything is going great. I could expect to lose an average (over 3 months) between 2-5#/week. Everyone stalls and maybe this is your stall. I will say this though, even tho I wasn't losing during those 10 days, my body composition was changing. I had bought a new pair of pants right at the time I stalled and now I'm hiking them up because they are already a bit too big. Keep your head up

I'm about 4 weeks post op and I'm really starting to wonder something. How do you eat anything besides protein??!! I get so incredibly full from meat protein (chicken, beef), and even eggs, and stay for so long that I'm not eating anything else. I still can't take the multi vit yet. It makes me vomit within minutes of taking it. So between this and not getting getting any veggies, I'm worried about missing key nutrients. Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm also so worried about stretching my stomach I don't want to overeat and end up back where I was before surgery. On the flip side though, I already have gotten over looking at meals as a event or social thing, like going out to eat, and really it's just a means to an end - eating to survive; it's not something I look forward to or get excited about. Any thoughts or suggestions

My doctor said only miralax. I've used it a few times. He also said rather than wait until your constipated, take a partial dose every day.

Eating too much too fast

When I got to the pureed stage 4 days ago I over ate the first "meal" of Greek yogurt. So the next time, I got a table spoon and ate 1 tbsp over 5 minutes. Then I did another tbsp over 5 min and then repeated again. By the end of the 3rd tbsp I was starting to have a sensation of getting full so I very slowly ate the 4th one and that was all I could handle. Now I know not to exceed 4 tbsp of intake at each "meal." I find that if I stay closer to 3 tsbp then I don't get uncomfortable but am still full and satisfied. -
I'm about 2.5 weeks out too and have stalled however suddenly my clothes are baggy. I guess the body is still undergoing changes while it's not loosing pounds.

How did you handle changing clothing size ?
newnurse1999 replied to Elizabethtash's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've gotten mostly elastic pants so the waist fits longer like Jennings and yoga / exercise pants. I also got clothes at Sam's club. I'm a nurse and wear scrubs 5 days / week so I also don't really need anything dressy... thank the lord. I have gotten into this concept of a wardrobe capsule where you have just a few pieceds of clothing that can all be mixed and matched. I think this is helpful too as I don't want to drop a bunch of money into temporary clothing. -
I'm 8 days postoperative and so far I've tried three different full liquid foods. All low / no sugar and the protein shake recommended by the nutritionist. Each time, I've had serious bathroom emergencies within about 15 min. Most recently, it was accompanied by a rapid heart rate and feeling weak and shaky. Could this be dumping syndrome or just the body acclimating to something besides clear liquids. Anyone else have these issues.

I'm having significant gas paint still. Had the sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. Any suggestions to help better tolerate or eliminate this gas pressure pain?

My sleeve was on the 17th and today was the first day I got much down and the nausea is gone but acid reflux is happening.

What did you tell your young kids?

I have a 2 and 5 year ols. I told them I was going to get some things fixed in my tummy so I'd feel better. I also tried to prepare them by explaining that I wouldn't be able to pick them up for a few weeks but we could still snuggle. Most importantly I explained some ways it would benefit them like how I'd have more energy and be able to run around with them and play outside, wrestle (with my son), ride our bikes ect. and they like all of that because they will get a benefit too my date is 3/16 and can't wait to start my new life. -
I have been considering lap band for about 2 years but have seriously considered it for about a month so I have made a consultation with a surgeon. Can anyone who has experienced this procedure offer information, considerations, warnings etc that I may not be informed of from the surgeon or in my own research. Thanks!!!
