80+ lbs down and still hard to believe my size
sHeLLaBee replied to brokenwings's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The weight loss is so fast that my brain hasn't caught up either! I have lost 100lbs in 19months and gone from a 26 to a 12. I still try to convince myself that all brands are different and I prob could have worn this size before, I just never tried. Lol. I still see myself in pics as the fat girl and I am one of the smallest in my circle of people now! It's amazing... I am constantly asking my mom to point out someone that is similar in shape and size to me so that I can see it from another perspective. It helps, but doesn't last long. I'm hoping that once I get to a single digit (8!) this year and maybe see a difference finally. =) Congrats and Good luck! -

Is anyone experience heavy menstrual periods .after putting the lap band ?
sHeLLaBee replied to edith :)'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lost about 90lbs and my period did get heavier and my cramps worse. The doc says it's because my hormones are adjusting. -

Cant get excited for 180 ..... Boo-hoo right?
sHeLLaBee replied to audreycat123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My situation is so similar! I started at 276 and am now down to 188 after about 15 months. I plateaued at about 190-193 for 3 months and wasn't completely upset about it. I was happy to be under 200 and am sure I will never be there again. I realized how close to 100lbs lost I was and got irritated with myself that I wasn't trying harder! I am now working out 5 days a week and riding my bike as well. I have been steadily losing 1-1.5lbs a week and am really happy with that. I figure I have already lost almost 90lbs, what's another 30?! Haha. My goal is 150 or so. Good luck! I hope motivation also kicks you in the butt soon and you get moving forward! =) -
I know the first thing everyone is going to say, so lets get that out of the way... I am going to call my doc. I just want to know if anyone has experienced this or what it could be?? I had a fill a week ago and have had better restriction since then. No problems. Today I had my Protein shake for Breakfast, a string cheese for a snack and for lunch, a few bites of brown rice, broccoli and beef roast. About 15 min after finishing lunch I felt the need to throw up. I went to the bathroom and some food came up as well as blood. Bright red and a few teaspoon fulls of it. Never happened before and I haven't had to vomit up food in a while. It came up very easy and it seemed to be almost everything I ate, so it was obviously still sitting in my pouch. I had no pain and have no pain or uncomfortableness now, other than feeling like I just threw up. Any ideas? Should I be really worried??

I absolutely had the same thought as soon as I saw it! ...but no, I hadn't had anything red for at least the previous 2-3 days. I drove an hour =/ to the doc and they unfilled me .1cc's, yes POINT ONE! The NP said because it had only happened once and I wasn't having any pain or uncomfortableness that it was probably the brocolli I ate for lunch that just irritated my stomach and to take it easy (mooshies) for 48 hours. Any more problems and I am to go back ASAP. So far so good. Thanks for all your thoughts and concerns! <3

Everyone I know who has been pregnant has not taken any out until needed. Their docs keep a watchful eye that they are getting enough nutrition, if not then they will unfill some. Also, if you have morning sickness. Because you have learned a new healthy way of eating you may not gain much weight anyway. FYI: It's ALWAYS your decision. Just make sure you put the baby and your health first. The weight will come back off.

Tomorrow is the day, nervous!!

Yay! Wish you well! Keep us updated. -
Thanks for everyones concern! I know the weight should not be an issue now. I am struggling, but I do understand that. I am much healthier now than ever and want it to stay that way. The issue is that the ER here has no idea how to deal with a LapBand patient and I would sit in the waiting room for hours anyway (Los Angeles), I'm going to give them a few more minutes and then head out if nothing. Let me clarify that it was blood that came up with the food. I am not just vomiting blood. I freaked a few people out who misunderstood.

Thanks. I called the office. Waiting for him to call back. His office is an hour away, so I'm waiting to see what he says before I head out. I know this is ridiculous, but I'm REALLY scared of an unfill...

Is Soda Bad Once In A While?
sHeLLaBee replied to kittylove32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor allows caffeine, as long as it's not more than one cup a day. As for the carbonation? They said that there is no medical proof that it causes slippage and the chances of carbonation stretching your pouch is slim to none. He said it would take A LOT of carbonation to do that. That being said, they suggest we limit it to no more than a few times a week and to sip it. Once you stop drinking it for any length of time it is hard to go back to anyway. I drank regular pepsi, 3-4 cans a day for years. I switched to diet about 9 years ago and can't have anything to do with the regular stuff now. Before surgery I started weening myself off and avoided it completely for a few months. Every once in a while I get a craving and will take maybe 5-6 sips out of a can before I have had my fill and am good for another week or two. I personally haven't had any problems. The best advice is to, first: listen to your doctor, second: listen to your body. Subconsciously, you are well aware of what you can handle. If you feel guilty doing it, then that should tell you something... =) -
Anyone cheat on their preop diet?
sHeLLaBee replied to kerri360's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does anyone NOT cheat on their pre-op diet!? Haha. Yes, I think it's pretty normal. It's hard to go from what you've eaten for years to pretty much nothing and not cheat. As long as you are aware of it and try not to, I don't think it's going to kill anyone. Obviously, I don't mean Burger King 3 meals a day or anything. I was on 2 weeks liquids and once a day I would eat something more solid, like scrambled eggs or oatmeal, just so I wouldn't feel so hungry. You should be fine. =) -
Help!! Flipped lapband wound will not heal
sHeLLaBee replied to chevonne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Missy. Do you mean your port flipped?? -
I am about 15 months out from surgery and have lost 88lbs. I had 7cc in my 10cc band as of July 2012. I have been plateaued since October, so I went in for a fill yesterday of .25cc. This morning I had my protein shake and I seemed to have felt more restriction. It's only been a few hours and I think I feel hungry? Is it possible to be this far out and still not really understand what hunger feels like? I ate stringed cheese and now I feel really full, but could it not be hunger? I'm trying to get back to band basics and have been working out a lot more in the last few weeks hoping to break this plateau. I'm just venting, but any ideas, opinions, suggestions are welcome!
