    Anyone older than me?

I was 62 when I had mine done and the only problem I had were the gas bubbles and I thought I was going to die, have plenty of Gas X Strips and take them all the time. Haven't had a problem except my ports went bad and I had to have them replaced twice, but that was a piece of cake, very little pain and in a couple of days I was fine. Have lost 80 pounds so far. So go for it you are a young thing compared to me.

    throat clearing and mucus

To me this is the worst part of the band, it has caused my sinus and allegeries to sort of back up on me or run like a waterfall, which I don't understand why would the band affect my sinus and allegeries. I still cannot find anything to stop it and I have tried everything. The one sinus medicine that I was taking helped a lot, but guess what they quit making it because it was an older medicine and not many people were taking it any more. But I do know I cannot drink when I eat and I have to eat so slowly that even with the little amount I eat, regular eating people sometimes finish before I do. It absolutely drives me nuts. I really think that the mucus fills up the pouch and then when you eat or drink the pouch is full and you are on a merry go round. Navywife
  5. Good Afternoon everyone, I have been a member of and read this forum for quite awhile but have never posted. I got my band on Feb 14, 2007 it has been over a year now and I have lost 80 pounds. But not without some bumps in the road along the way. My port had to be replaced after 8 months then the new port went south and the tubing came off and was laying on a bunch of nerves which was driving my insides crazy. But thru it all my doctor was great, he didn't charge me for the two port problems and he has encourged me all the way. I am having numerous fights with the hospital and insurance, but I just keep on fighting. Anyway there are lots of pro's and lots of con's it is all in how much you want the band and how hard you are willing to work and fight for it. Don't give up for those of you who are up against it with insurance because it is really worth the fight. My husband has been my rock and my daughter is a great supporter. I just keep on plugging along and know it is worth it when I went from a 22 to an 18 and then a 16 and then a 14 and now some 12's. I still have 30 pounds to go and I am due in the doctor's office the first of Oct for another fill, so I will be off and running again. Take care all Navywife
