I think I can feel my tubing move!
CNP28 replied to feliciadawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That happened to me too. I always felt pressure by my ribs. It only felt good when i would put my hand over the spot that was uncomfortable. It does go away, I promise -
I'm very happy with my weight loss so far but I'm even more thrilled that the lap band has seemed to have cured my heartburn. Before I had the band, I had the most painful heartburn almost every night. It was so miserable. I had to sleep almost sitting up and never got a goodnight rest. Since I've been banded, I've had zero heart burn. I've been able to sleep laying down and it's been wonderful. Has anyone else experienced this relief since being banded?

2 weeks post surgery-eating/fullness questions
CNP28 replied to Emily331's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was 2 weeks post op I was hungry too. I was in the mushy food stage. Cream of wheat totally saved me during that time. It's filling, warm, easy to get down and I flavored it to my taste. I used splenda brown sugar. I'm not sure about the not being able to swallow thing because I didn't have that problem but as far as the hunger, the cream of wheat worked for me while I was in the mushies stage. Good luck to you and congrats on being banded. -
Anyone feel like they are cheating?
CNP28 replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never feel like i'm cheating and neither should you. It was will power that stopped you from having that cookie. You are physically able to eat a cookie with the lap band. It wasn't the lap band that prevented you from having that cookie, It was you who prevented you from having that cookie. You should feel awesome! -
Not losing weight after 7 weeks!
CNP28 replied to carisajo83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one of those people that have lost 30 pounds without a fill. I'm 6 weeks post op. I'm not sure why some people lose without a fill than people who have a fill. I'm only down 1 pant size. I know that everyone loses weight differently and I can only tell you what I do. I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. The majority of my diet consists of rotisserie chx, tuna and vegetables. I eat between 800-1200 calories a day mon-sat. On Sunday I up my calories to 1500 calories. I'm not sure why increasing calories on that day works but when I wake up on Monday, I'm usually down about 3 pounds from the previous day. I've maintained about a 5 pound weight loss per week. I walk about 4 times a week for 30 min. I think increasing water and protein is good advice. And maybe increasing some calories but don't quote me on that one. Good luck to you and congrats on your weight loss thus far! -
Don't feel sad. You shouldn't be concerned about the weight loss right now. I wouldn't even step on the scale if i were you. The first 4-6 weeks are about healing, not weight loss. I gained a few pounds after surgery. I've been told its because you are putting your body through such a drastic change, that your body is holding on to fat. The pounds will start to come off before you know it. I'm 6 weeks post op and down almost 30 pounds. After surgery i gained a couple pounds, then the scale didn't move at all for like 2 weeks and then i started losing almost a pound a day. My weight loss is just now starting to steady a little bit at 6 weeks out. My doctor told me i can start focusing on the weight loss around 7 weeks out. Hang in there, It will happen. Focus on healing right now.

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT BEFORE-BACK TO WORK?
CNP28 replied to banded_princess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on a Friday. I took that friday off and the following week off, so with weekends it came out to 12 days. I was very glad I took this time. It made my first week of liquids so much easier and my insicions healed beautifully cause I spent that whole time resting. I work in a job where I sit all day. The first week back at work was very uncomfortable to sit in the upright posistion all day. Advil helped. Not sure about lifting things so soon. I'm 6 weeks post op and I lift very little if anything over 10 pounds. Good luck to you -
This past week i have had zero appetite. I'm barely consuming 500 calories a day. I don't feel bad and I don't have trouble keeping anything down, I'm just not hungry. I don't crave food, and when I force myself to eat, it doesn't taste good and I feel stuffed because I wasn't hungry to begin with. The only thing I crave is water. I was supposed to have my first fill on oct 3rd but they denied me a fill because I lost 20 pounds in a month. They said that was to much. I have no fill, so it's not that. Is this the green zone or something else? I'm just now 6 weeks post op. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how do u get your protein and calories in?

Need to unload some things I am feeling
CNP28 replied to kristallynn13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well as far as the jealousy goes there's really nothing you can do about that. I would definitly not worry myself about their issues cause in the end, it's their issue, not yours. Congrats to you for your 70 pound weight loss before being banded and congrats for taking control of your life Don't let haters discourage you but let that be your motivation. You should strive for 20 haters by the end of the year. I had several people pull the jealousy thing on me when they found out that I was getting lap band but I have to live for me and make myself happy. I consider it a waste of time to be hateful toward others or try to figure out why they are hateful towArds me. Take care of you girl and congrats again. -
Flintstone Vitamins Complete
CNP28 replied to craigmorganfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me the flintstones for kids were ok as long as I take 2 . They don't really taste that good to me and they do get stuck in your teeth. I'm may switch to the vitacrave gummies once I'm done with these. I remember them tasting better when I was a kid. Lol -
Today i went to, what was supposed to be my first fill. The aftercare people said i lost 25 pounds in 1 month and for the amount of fluid in my band they were expecting, or would have been happy with an 8-10 pound loss. Wait? I thought my my band was empty but i found out today that i received 2 cc's at the time of surgery. I have a 10 cc band. They seemed concerned at my weight loss and asked me what i was doing. I told them i eat 1/4 cup of food every 2-3 hours. I consume between 800-1200 calories a day and 50-70 g of protein. I walk on the treadmill for 30 min 6 days a week. They said i was losing weight to quickly and they denied me a fill, which is fine because i didn't want one anyway. I even heard one of the nurses saying maybe i should have fluid removed. what? They said they want me to eat 1/2 cup to 3/4 of a cup of food every 4-5 hours. It averages out to about the same thing but eating 1/4 cup every 2-3 hours keeps me feeling satisfied and not hungry throughout the day. I left my appointment feeling very confused because i'm thrilled about the weight loss. The reason i got the band was to lose weight but i also don't want to lose weight unhealthy. They said to come back in 3 weeks and they will see if my weight loss has slowed down. Has this happened to anyone? I called my surgeon and he said that it is a lot of weight loss for a month but that he wasn't to concerned for now. He said he would never have fluid removed from my band unless i was throwing up, or unable to get food down. He said they typically like to see a max weight loss of 10 pounds a month. He said this is healthy. I was really excited about my weight loss but now i'm kinda bummed cause everyone seems concerned. Does anyone have any advice?

LOST WEIGHT TO QUICKLY??? WHAT??
CNP28 replied to CNP28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Stratcat. I totally agree with you. I really do believe my weight loss will slow down. I started at almost 300 pounds and i think my body was just desperate to drop some pounds. Thanks for the advice. -
Ladies .....Maybe a stupid question but
CNP28 replied to Nicole0425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have big breast and it hurt me to wear a bra after surgery. I went to kohls and got the barely there pullover bras. It's enough support and it feels like a t-shirt. They have no wires and look kind of like a sports bra. I wore those for about 3 weeks. They cost about $11 each. -
I was scheduled to get my first fill on September 20th. I refused that fill because i felt i wasn't ready. They rescheduled me for This Monday and I'm completely freaked out. I'm still not sure if i'm ready for a fill. How do you know when you are ready for one? I feel like i just got comfortable eating a certain amount of portions and although i'm losing weight more slowly, i'm still losing. I'm just scared that if i get a fill, i'm going to have to start over with finding what portions and what foods work for me and i don't want to get sick or throw up while trying to figure it out. My surgeon also told me that he prefers i don't get a fill unless its absolutely necessary(he said the less fills you get, the less chance for complications) but the aftercare people keep scheduling me for a fill. Ugh, i do this back and forth all day. How did you guys know you were ready for a fill?

What is your favorite workout routine &/or DVD

Oh my gosh!! I can totally tell you've lost weight!! I tend to lose a lot of inches before i lose a lot of pounds. In my early 20's, i was a size 6 but i weighed 175 pounds. People never believed me when i said i weighed that amount because they thought i weighed a lot less. I had a lot of muscle so i carried my weight differently. For me, the number on the scale is important but it's also important how you look and how your clothes feel. When i went in for my surgery my dad thought i weighed about 240. He almost fell over in shock when i told him my starting weight was 297. I guess i'm just trying to say that everyone carries weight differently and the scale can be our worst enemy and very discouraging. You should get together with your surgeon to see what you can do to be able to see the numbers on the scale that you are wanting to see. You're looking great!! Have you gone down any sizes in your clothing? Your back, your waist, and your shoulders look so much smaller in your after picture.

The plateaus just confuse me. I have weighed the same thing for about 10 days. I up'd my protein and water. Then I up'd my workouts and calories and nothing. Then last night I ate a small portion of what I wouldn't consider the healthiest dinner and bam! I woke up today 3 pounds lighter than yesterday. I don't get it

My surgeon told me if i cannot finish my meal in 30 minutes then throw the rest out. He said they consider anything past 30 minutes grazing

I had the choice to have my done at the hospital or at the surgery center and I chose the surgery center all day long and had a wonderful experience. I was surrounded by doctors and nurses. They stood by myside the entire time from check in to check out. They called me the next 2 days to make sure I was doing ok and my surgeon called the day after that.I feel like i got a way more personal experience then I wouldve had at a hospital and there's nothing like recovering in your own bed. The surgery center was so clean and comfortable and had an A+ rating.

First time Throwing Up..Don't feel good
CNP28 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The other night after having dinner we decided to go out with some friends. I ordered a glass of red wine. This would be the first time i've attempted to drink anything since surgery. I only had a couple of sips and i just couldn't resist the urge to throw up. I didn't throw up any of my food from dinner, i just threw up water and the few sips of wine i had and i felt much better. That was the first time i have thrown up or had the urge to throw up since i've had my lap band. I have no fill. I haven't had any trouble keeping anything down since that happened but my stomach hurts and feels uncomfortable. Even taking a deep breath gives me a pinching sensation. Any suggestions? Has this happened to anyone? -
I had read many post on here about my fitness pal.com so i signed up for it today and was shocked by the numbers it gave me. Based on my weight and goal weight it said i can have 1,440 calories a day, 52 grams of fat a day (which i never come close to), and 165 grams of carbs a day (which i never come close to). I just cant imagine eating that much fat and carbs and losing weight. I was wondering, do you guys use this website as a way to keep track of your food electronically versus having to write it down? or do you guys actually follow the guidelines of what it allows you to have. Just curious how people use my fitness pal. com.

Not sure about the 2 incisions thing but how many days post op are you? Everyone told me it wouldn't hurt and the day of surgery it didn't hurt because I was on all the drugs. Day 2, 3 and 4 I was very uncomfortable but day 5 brought some relief. Hope u feel better
