Poll: Would you have surgery again if you............
Trayjay33 replied to lovedXJesus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I appreciate your honesty LovedxJesus, it would have taken some convincing for me to have the surgery if it was just for health reasons and no weight loss benefit. I would probably have kept saying, "I can do this on my own" and rely on medications. My health has improved so much since surgery so I can now say its wonderful and worth it but I'm looking forward to the continued weight loss also. -
Coworkers talking.. "she had something done"
Trayjay33 replied to jackie's journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People are nosey creatures some take it to the extreme and as much as I wanted to be private about the surgery it has changed my life. Many people are having weight loss surgery these days but I learned part of my unwillingness to talk about it is a fear of failure if I didn't lose the weight and people saying it's the easy way out. In my years of struggling with my weight I have asked people what they have done to lose weight and I appreciated the honesty. Since RNY has done wonders for me so far I don't mind sharing a bit of that information. I too do not like engaging in workplace conversations so it will be short and sweet. I had weight loss surgery, I'm eating better and I'm being more active. People will always talk, don't lose sleep over it. -
Dangelos take out/fast food
Trayjay33 replied to jessica2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried the lobster salad with my own Newman's light Italian and then the Balsamic vinaigrette they have and it was a pretty healthy option. I took out the peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers because I didn't want those. -
I bought several of the Oikos Triple Zero Strawberry flavor and it taste good but I realize my stomach has been upset and my appetite decreased. I read one of the main ingredients is Chicory root fiber. It's not recommended for some people. Gallstone sufferers I believe. It stimulates the production of bile. I don't want to waste the ones in the fridge but want to know if anyone else has experienced upset stomach, nausea and decreased appetite with it? Or could this be unrelated. Thanks.

Surgery Date set yay ! Feb 17th
Trayjay33 replied to Shortierock's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations on your February 17th surgery date! We had similar starting weights but I do not use measurements but that's a great idea. Even when I'm not losing pounds the inches are coming off. I can feel it in my clothes and if I don't I get a little nervous but it works out. My Doctor didn't give me a goal weight, he asked so I told him what weight I wanted to get down to and he said it's doable. With your love for exercise, knowledge, motivation and support you got this. Keep us informed of the changes. -

How about some NSVs!?!?
Trayjay33 replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can sleep on my stomach again. It's the most comfortable sleeping position for me. I have more energy and don't fuss about not finding a close parking space and I can see a chocolate cake and not drool over it. It's fun to see the changes. ???? -
Our taste does change immensely after surgery and it differs individually. I cannot tolerate the chocolate calcium chews and I would forget powders as well so I purchased Caltrate minis. Easy to swallow and smaller pill I can take with other vitamins.

I don't know what your goal weight is but I am sure you will get there. You look absolutely wonderful and a picture is worth a thousand words. Good job. -

What is this? hunger, thirst or acid reflux?
Trayjay33 replied to bluedreams86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi bluedreams, I hope you feel better soon. I am still healing from an ulcer but the pain was below the breast bone and it was hard to keep food down with blood tinged vomiting at times. Hopefully your Surgeon will do an Endoscopy to see what's going on and in the meantime get all the fluids you can in like broth and Water. And of course rest and keep the head of your bed elevated. Good luck. -
Congratulations, what an inspiration to recent bypass patients like myself. Thank you for sharing your success story!

What do you order if you go out for Chinese ?
Trayjay33 replied to Homecie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to live on Chinese food but the sauces are loaded with sugar. The egg drop soup is an option but I find it very greasy. So I make my own. I was thinking a couple months down the road to try the steamed options as I don't think you can go too wrong with that. They usually have steamed chicken, shrimp and vegetables. Good luck. -
New App I found that's helpful...
Trayjay33 replied to Trayjay33's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Lol! I know what you mean. They definitely were on a budget for that APP and it is a questionable icon. I just ignored it the best I could. ☺️ -
I found a new app (for me) on the App Store called Bariatric trimer. It reminds you when to eat and drink and help you set timers so you don't drink and eat too close to each other. So far I find it helpful because I've always had issues wanting to drink with my meals. I also don't feel hungry at times. Just a FYI if anyone is interested.

Your welcome. -
Same thing here, my period was once a month prior to surgery and it's been twice a month since I've been losing weight after the bypass. It's not fun because who wants a period more frequently and it also causes scale confusion. ????

Migraines and bypass surgery
Trayjay33 replied to brokenangel84's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The Topamax, Imitrex and Botox are not anti-inflammatory medications so they are not in the class of Ibuprofen. If you only get headaches once in a while Tylenol may be a choice if your Doctor agrees or a daily preventative medicine with a as needed medication that is not a anti inflammatory. Congrats on your surgery -
I'm not sure if anyone is struggling with finding ways to moisten the food they eat but I found Barilla makes a light Alfredo Sauce and Bella Vita makes several flavored pasta sauces that are pretty good tasting. I obviously do not use them on pasta but chicken or deli turkey and vegetables. Whatever you can get creative with using it on. I Just thought I would share as these are better tasting than Walden farms in my opinion.

Migraines and bypass surgery
Trayjay33 replied to brokenangel84's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have suffered from Migraines for years and have tried many medications. Right now I am on Topamax 50mg twice a day and Botox injections once every three months. The Botox has made a huge difference in reducing my headache days. I also have Imitrex for breakthrough Migraines. I found I had more headaches after surgery but I'm due for the Botox and I think stress is a trigger for me. I'm 6 weeks out so hopefully long term things will settle down so I can come off the Topamax especially. Good luck on your surgery and things will fall in to place. -
Lol, over the years and with my occupation I'm not a fan of spending too much time in the kitchen. That's what contributed to my wait gain, going to the Fast food places. I'm trying to find variety while adhering to my diet.
