How are your eating and exercise habits? Do you subscribe to my fitness pal and have you sought out any exercise regimes?

@@Big Opie, your a fighter I love it! Always put that spirit to positive use and don't give up. I saw your other post and I have had reflux and my surgeon wouldn't do the sleeve and instead did the bypass. I know it's something else to add but you don't want to go through an additional surgery. I wish you the best of everything.

Ah, ok I will pick some of that up and give it a try. Thank you James. -

Good morning, I take Nature Made 1000mg timed release and I also take centrum chewable which has a little additional B12. Yes, I had RNY. -
Anyone else having a hard time getting pain meds?
Trayjay33 replied to Gumpgal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm glad they will have the medication in for you tomorrow. I had a revision from lap band to gastric bypass. My initial pain while in the hospital was more than with the lap band but nothing that wasn't managed by the pain meds. I was able to walk around sooner after the bypass that with the lap band. Walking as much as tolerated also helped with decreasing gas pains. I didn't wait until the pain became intolerable before taking the medicine and I took Tylenol sometimes so I didn't have to take the controlled pain med. It's normal to feel a bit anxious because it's surgery but RNY is so worth it. I'm 9 months out and down about 105 pounds and 20 pounds from my goal. I'm just telling you that because the surgery works. You will be fine, don't over think it! ???? -

I went through the same thing, they don't keep that much on hand so they have to order it. Hopefully they have it. If not it should be in by the time you get out of the hospital. It works great by the way and I didn't use half of what I was prescribed. I wish you well on your surgery. -
Progress so far! (Pics)
Trayjay33 replied to Martene81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Martene81, what a wonderful supportive daughter you have! She was right in encouraging you to take a picture. In less than 2 months what a difference. Scale slow downs will happen for a time as our body adjust to changes. I am 9 months out, so closer to a year. My advice (for what it's worth) is keep following what is healthy for you and the weight will come off. You look amazing and will be at goal before you know it. Congratulations on your success so far. -

Stomach Pain After Eating
Trayjay33 replied to Sans Seraph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes we just need to hear that what we are going through is important. If I were you I would NOT wait until Monday. I would be at the nearest emergency room for those symptoms. If you need the reason, 1) increasing abdominal pain with nausea and loss of appetite. 2) History of pancreatitis and 3) change in bowel habits as you say you spent most of Friday in the bathroom. Don't worry about "bothering" people. It comes with the profession, your health is important. Wish you well. -
Like the previous poster said water exercise would be wonderful if approved by your Doctor. However, it doesn't sound like a stall to me if you have lost almost 10 pounds each month and your not even through July yet. Continue to follow the plan, do whatever physical activity you are allowed to and in my opinion keep up the good work!

Internal Hernia
Trayjay33 replied to InspirationMySon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I had to look up Petersen's Defect apparently it is common but quite dangerous. I'm glad you are on the mend. I think they can't repair it with the original RNY surgery because it's not herniated yet? That's quite scary that blood flow to the bowel can be lost. May I ask where you felt the pain and what it felt like? -
Taking the Plunge: surgery on Monday
Trayjay33 replied to MarcK's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery, it's normal to have those questions. It depends on your surgeons restrictions. You may be restricted regarding lifting on the job and it may be affected by whether you have open bypass or laparoscopic. Regarding an active lifestyle it's the same thing, how long you will be on pain medication, how long you will be on blood thinners. All in all the time you spend recovering is important. Take it easy and heal so that you don't have any issues you could have avoided. You will be amazed at how active you will be when that weight starts coming off. -
NewLife4Me7, it was encouraging reading your story. You did not sugar coat anything as you gave the truth about what you have gone through. You came out a winner and I am happy for you. Thank you for sharing your success story and I pray you have more blessings from the Lord.

Three week victory before/after pics

Good job! keep up the wonderful work and enjoy the new you. -
I agree with the previous posting that yogurt is pretty good and Yoplait Greek 100 has a lot of protein and good flavors. Also ensure active high protein has 19 grams of protein and vanilla and chocolate flavors so you can add to your diet. The ensure is 8oz so you don't have to worry about drinking a whole lot. If you could tolerate a egg drop soup that's loaded with protein. You can try making your own. Feel better soon.

I understand what you mean BubblyTxGirl. I think Psychologically we get cleared for surgery but many times there is no discussion as to how our lives will change post surgery. Many people are afraid to admit even though they lose weight there is still a struggle. Society has it that if someone is thin they should have it all together. There are so many changes that occur with weight loss. These include changes emotionally, hormonal and for some spiritually. You are not alone and I hope we continue to discover who we are as people and see ourselves like we should.

I'm not sure how many other people struggle like I have to see how my body has changed physically since weight loss. I know what weight I want to be and I know that I want to be a certain BMI. More and more people are saying I can stop losing now but #1. I'm going on 7 months out and my body isn't ready to stop. #2. I don't want to stop and #3. I am happy with my continued weight loss. Nevertheless the comments did make me think. I found a few websites that were helpful in encouraging me that it's ok to lose more weight so I thought I would share them. It's just for encouragement not to go extra with by the way. Lol. Everything to be used in moderation and with healthy consideration. http://www.bmivisualizer.com http://whatwillilooklike.com http://www.mybodygallery.com Hope it helps.

Hi, I did experience upper left side pain and lower pelvic and bladder pain for a bit. It was a while ago but I believe they sent me for CT Scan and urine specimen test but it was ok. It eventually resolved on its own I'm not sure exactly how long it took. Maybe about 1 month but your body has been through more than you know. I took Tylenol and my prescription pain meds as needed. During your follow-up next week I'm sure they will determine if there is anything else that needs to be tested. Maybe a heating pad may help a bit with the discomfort. Hope you feel better soon.

Are you kidding me that was you pre-op? You look so amazing now and to have kept the weight off for so long is so encouraging. You look beautiful and I am glad other things have come together in your life as well. Thanks for sharing it really has helped me a lot. ????
-
I didn't have much gas pain post-op but I remember walking as much as I could to get things going. 8 months seem so long ago now, lol. Congratulations on your surgery! ????

I have always disliked taking pictures of myself. I'm not one to track weight loss with my own photos. Even so I still think I would need other ways to visualize my weight loss progress. Glad it's helping someone.

You look awesome! Good job with losing 110 pounds. It takes a lot of work but it's worth it. You look so happy and much younger in the after photo. Congratulations????

I know what it's like to have a complication and be worried. Everything will and is falling into place for you and I am glad. What amazing news that the diabetic meds are gone and the high blood pressure meds are soon to follow. Congratulations!
