    How to stop weight lost.

@@foodfighter78, I'm glad to hear that today was a better day for you. The scale going down can get addictive. But remember the alternative of continued weight loss possible G-tube, etc. it's not worth it. You will be fine and you have good reasons why you did this surgery just remember them.
  2. Hi, I don't know but definitely try my fitness pal to log your foods. Good luck and congrats on your baby. BTW losing 50 pounds is definitely doable.

    How to stop weight lost.

@@foodfighter78, you definitely need to eat more. Have you seen a nutritionist yet? Have they discussed any possible vitamin or mineral deficiencies at this point? Have you seen a Psychiatrist? I think you were worried about weight regain at one point. Eating frequent small meals is a given but are they high nutritional meals? As someone who has a very small pouch myself as James mentioned. I am 5'6" and was down to about 119 pounds. I made up in my mind I didn't want to be sick or dead for the sake of being skinny. I gave myself permission to gain some weight back. I did this by seeing a Nutritionist and she made a meal plan for me. Even with one visit I learned how to eat frequent small portions that have higher calories. I am now 122 pounds, feel much better and look much better. This is at about 1700 calories per day for me. Ex. Instant Oatmeal with fresh banana, a potato with salmon, fruits in between, crackers, cheese-itz's are small and high in calories, adding butter to your potatoes as a fat. I have had complications as well surgically but I work with what I have. This is just an example of how you may help yourself. Also, discussing this with your Bariatric surgeon including a reversal may be necessary if it can't be fixed. Good luck.

    Desperate cry for help...

@_Laura_. No all is not lost, it's pretty common that there were not good post-op support programs years ago. If the truth be told some programs are still better than others. You have about 30 pounds to lose to get back to where you were. That's doable and it begins with going back to the basics of weight loss with RNY. First, I would recommend accepting if this is something you are ready to do and follow the advice of the ladies above. We are all here for support at different stages in our journey but it's a lifelong journey none the less. I am also here for your support if you need it.
  5. @@UsernameTaken, I am over a year post-op from revision surgery and overall it has been a good experience. I have not experienced slow weight loss but I think that's a relative term. I have lost about 135 pounds since having surgery the end of 2014 and just stopped losing earlier in February hopefully to maintain where I am. (I wanted to stop losing). I don't regret the decision even though some days have been difficult. I'm not missing the band at all and RNY is much better. I hope the best for you.

10 months out and not happy

Some surgery offices do not have great post-op care. This is an older thread but in case you ever check back in my advice would be to see you Psychiatrist and get your depression treated first. Also, if you could get in to counseling that may help as well. Then back to basics with your eating, making a decision to cut out all sweets, high dairy products and coffee and look to Protein first then low carbs and fats. I hope things are better for you.

    Long term maintainers?

Hi Carol, Do you remember how your sister gained her weight back after losing too much weight and what she does to maintain her weight?
  8. Wow!! You look incredibly wonderful. Congratulations on reaching that BMI milestone. Great job!
  9. Wow! You are beautiful, excellent job. I understand about feeling awkward with the attention from men. My advice is to take it slow because I'm sure you will get much more. I hope you find someone who values you more on the inside than the outside... It is possible but enjoy this transformational journey.

You look awesome, congratulations on your success!!
  11. It's fairly common for some after gastric bypass. I have had several episodes but I am doing better now. My triggers were eating high carbohydrate foods which caused a hypoglycemic episode. I then tried to manage it by eating more carbs but that was not the answer. What I found works for me is frequent small meals no longer than 4 hours apart while awake. Protein first, limited but added carbs and some fats. For example I eat a yogurt in the morning 9am, protein shake mid morning 10:30am, small green apple about 11:30am or 12pm then lunch about 1pm which has protein & vegetables or protein & low carb pasta, mid afternoon snack around 3pm is another yogurt and by about 6pm I eat dinner and then by 8pm I have another snack like sugar free popsicles or low carb candies. This varies because I have been adding more carbs like peanut butter crackers to my diet since I am trying to cut down on weight loss and maintain my weight now. Just a general plan. I was also told a referral can be made to a Endocrinologist if necessary. Feel better soon.

Video of my 1 year progress!

You look even more beautiful and I love your smile. Congratulations on a year out from surgery with continued success!
  15. @@dusky goddess, I posted a face picture comparison on this site about two months ago because I felt it may encourage other people who are in the weight loss stage. I think about having it removed from time to time. I struggle emotionally with my new body and realize there is a lot of healing that has to come from within. I was never one to flaunt it for the camera even when I was young. I didn't take my high school year book picture but picture avoidance worsened with weight gain. It bothers me when people talk about how skinny I am now. Even that makes me feel uncomfortable. My mind is struggling with these comments. I don't have answers for your situation but I hope you become more comfortable with who you are physically. I'm sure you are beautiful in a full body picture as well.

    African American RNY Sisters

I have sweet cravings at times over a year out. I did experience dumping syndrome...no fun. Anyway, I eat Atkins Endulge snacks, sugar free or no sugar added ice pops, fruits. These help with the cravings, are lower carbs and do not make me feel guilty or suffer weight gain when eaten in moderation. Congratulations on your weight loss btw.
  17. @@beachgal2935, you have been through a lot but I am so glad that this surgery has given you a new opportunity. You look stunning and I hope these next years are the best years for you!

Congratulations on your success so far, you look great!

    From Sleeve to Gastric...

Sounds like you have been through a lot in past few years. I also hope things get better with RNY for you. I know this is another surgery but it sounds necessary.

    Fatigue, mental confusion?

@@foodfighter78, ok if you had blood work that recently and it included those levels and they were fine that may not be the issue. Since you work out so often are you replacing what calories you burn with the proper supplements? I understand how you feel about not being hungry but when you exercise your body needs extra protein. That may be why you felt better not exercising. You may want to discuss with your Nutritionist even liquid replacement supplements post workout.
  21. There is also the issue of "vanity sizing" at play here. Right now, I'm about 20-25 lbs heavier than I was in high school... but I am wearing the same pants size that I did then, 8. Now, I know that I'm bigger than I was then. Today's size 8 is a lot bigger than a size 8 was in 1995. Vanity sizing is around as well but that's not the issue in this case. I kept clothing that I hoped I could fit back into from when I had lost weight before. I had to give them away because they could no longer fit. Maybe it's just the way I personally lost weight but it was interesting. My body lost weight differently I feel with RNY than it did with other types of dieting about 10 years ago. I believe I lost more fat this time around and have more defined areas. I wouldn't have noticed it except my family pointing it out.
  22. That's exactly how I picked mine but something I didn't think about. When I was 130 pounds years ago I wore a size 6-8 and now I'm a size 2-4. My family was telling me I was never this thin before but I'm like its the same weight they're wrong. The only thing I can figure is that with RNY we lose more fat due to malabsorption. I found this interesting. Either way I think it's good to set a goal and have some room to find out how to eat during the maintenance phase.

    Your first time..

Bananas had too much sugar in it so it made me sick. I researched low sugar fruits and ate berries instead. Mostly blueberries, raspberries and a few strawberries. For vegetables I did canned spinach for quite a while. I think everyone is different and tolerate different things.
