I love the packets of True Lemon and True Orange. I haven't tried the True Lime yet. They are basically dried lemon, lime or orange flavors, no sugar, no artificial sweeteners. They come in regular (which are about 40 pkts per box for $3.99) and Plus which gives you 100% Vitamin C and they are (I think) 16 pkts for $2.99. Each packet flavors 10-16oz of water.

Get a first fill? I am content with 0 cc!
faithmd replied to Exude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There are plenty of bandsters who have never had a fill and are losing weight just fine. Some folks just find that the restriction from the band alone is what they need. Talk it over with your doctor and see what you come up with together. -
GREAT thread!! I'll be chiming in if that's okay. I just did some yardwork for the past 20 mins, raking and loading/unloading the wheelbarrow.

Losingjusme, I LOVE your weight: 310.625 I thought I was the only one who did that. Heck, if the scale says .475, that's what I'm putting down!

Got my insurance approval letter-and wanted to let everyone know I was still around
faithmd replied to ChinaMom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your approval! It sounds like you will be having lots of wonderful things happening in your life, it's wonderful things are turning around and looking up. -
Good luck to you and to your husband! Have you considered the sleeve gastrectomy? Is that an option with Nutcracker's Esophagus? If you don't know anything about it, obesityhelp.com has a nice section about it.

It doesn't look like it would hurt at all. It sort of reminds me of those rubber things people who do a lot of paperwork put on their thumbs to flip pages. It looks like it is a very soft flexible silcone-ish long cup-type material with little plastic ribs of hooks about an inch or inch and a half long running up and down the inside of it, not around it. So it should be easily collapsible. I'll go get the photo and post it if I can.

First Six Months of Lap Band: Average Weight Loss??
faithmd replied to bwaydiva's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm now checking out Calorieking.com Everytime I search for nutrition information on something I had in a restaurant (assuming the restaurant doesn't have nutrition info in the store on on their site-like Outback and Don Pablos don't), the first hit is ALWAYS CalorieKing. They've got TONS of info there. I haven't gotten too deep into it yet, but I'll post back when I've explored it more. -
I bought some blood meal last week

Here's a link to the Canadian Forum thread about this new skin, they seem to agree about wanting to move the ads back to the right, and about the girl. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=34458

I agree that Sprint/Nextel is by far the WORST for customer service! I'd put Commiecrap (I mean Comcast) next.

Hi Jane, here's some links to a few threads that may answer your question. There's a poll thread and plenty of people did not have pre-op diets. I unfortunately have a mandatory one, the MD's office actually checks to see if you've ordered your stuff or not. If you haven't ordered it and received it in time to be on it for the required length of time before surgery, they'll cancel you. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=33275 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=32361 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=29254 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=26167

Hello and welcome!!! I haven't been banded yet so I cannot speak to the life changes, but I can tell you that yes, once the surgeon is in your abdominal cavity, s/he determines the size band that will be placed. It is based on the size/thickness of your stomach, etc. What I've gleaned from boards like these and going to a couple of different seminars, most surgeons have all the sizes they use [which in the US is currently 4: 9.75 cm (4 cc capacity); 10 cm (4cc capacity); 11 cm (9cc capacity); Vanguard (10cc) see this thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15216] on hand and they decide what to use once you are prepped for installation.

Days missed due to surgery?
faithmd replied to teacherchick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's some links to a few threads about this subject. A couple of these are polls so it's nice to see what the averages are: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=27726 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=31539 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=31467 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=31007 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=24060 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=30346 -

I'm sorry, I should have said go with your doctor's reccs. It appears that more and more surgeons are okaying eating soilds earlier and earlier. Which very interesting to me. I should go see if I can find any studies about why. I agree with cutting out all refined sugar and simple carbs other than fruits. The carbs are what makes my HUNGRY! That and ANYTHING sweetened with Splenda, I get ravenous about an hour after eating or drinking something sweetened with sucralose. Good luck!!

That's EXACTLY my shape, and it stinks that LB is about the only place where the pants are cut just about right for me, too. At one time I had found jeans that fit like a DREAM at Dots of all places. They were Pierre Cardin and they fit like a glove, waist was perfect, leg length was a little long, just like I like it and they wore like Iron (I gardened in them, the knees didn't wear out fast, and they washed up just like new). I'm only 5'8"ish, but I have long legs and regular pants are too short, most talls are too long at LB, these were just right. So I bought three pair, then never found them in a store again.

I would hope that two weeks out of surgery you weren't really eating everything you normally would. At two weeks out most folks are still on mushies or full liquids. Food at such a short time post-op is just asking for trouble from what I have learned.

CONGRATS!!! I am May 31st. -
Grrrrrr, LB pisses me off, too!!! Same reasons, posting pics of skinny folks all over the place and luring you in with sales flyers and signs and then yanking it out from under you when you get to the register.

Cheaper than Bariatriceating.com
faithmd replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Laura, dammit you're making me hungry!!! :fish: I think I'm going to have to order me some. But by the time they get here, I won't be able to eat them for two months! -
OOOOooooohhhh yes!!!!! I second that one!!!! I cannot tell you how many times I scope out where to sit so that I won't get blocked in. I also want to have enough room in a restaurant booth to actually put a napkin on my lap. Hell, let's be honest, I want to not be scared I won't fit in booths!
