I forgot to add congrats on your wonderful loss so far! That is quite an accomplishment.

:welcomeB: Welcome to LBT, I'm sorry you've already experienced one of the possible complications of this band. That's really too bad. You are not alone, though. Take a while, look around here, the search function is great for finding information. I clicked on it, then Advanced Ssearch, then looked in Thread Titles Only for flipped and here's just a few of the results. I do hope this helps you, it must be a frustrating and somewhat scary time right now. Take care and keep us updated, will ya? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/flipped-port-32250/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/my-port-flipped-already-34151/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/port-tipped-flipped-questions-28310/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/flipped-port-26480/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/please-help-w-making-decision-flipped-port-25406/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f13/my-port-flipped-20560/

post surgical sexual intimicies

post surgical sexual intimicies
faithmd replied to kaohinani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've laid down while drinking (propped on pillows) and haven't had a problem. Average ejaculation is usually only about 5-15 ml (one teaspoon to a tablespoon), so it's lot like you're drinking a gallon and laying down. -
By the time you get filled (4 or 6 weeks out) you should be fine doing the "crunch" if that's what your doc does.

Has anyone slipped up on the liquid stage?
faithmd replied to aussie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, what bubble said. I was cleared to go on to full liquids yesterday and I still don't want to do it. I don't want to take any chances and I'm only a week out. I know that following your MD's advice is what we should be doing, but I figure being MORE cautious isn't such a bad thing. Time for tough love (I'm givng it to myself, too): Waaaaa, you want to chew, you just can't stand it?!?!?! Get OVER IT! I wrote something like this in another thread: If you were pregnant or if a man and your wife were pregnant and the doctor said you had to be on a liquid diet (or a man, something you couldn't do around mom) because it could cause damage to the baby, you'd have NO problem staying on that liquid diet, would you? You'd be on that liquid diet PAST the date the doc told you to just to be on the safe side, wouldn't you? Why won't we protect OUR OWN health with just as much vigor? -
I'm not looking forward to my first one...I did chew my Viactiv Calcium chew and swallowed it whole today and felt some serious pressure in my chest. I immediately got up and walked and stretched and burped, then I heated some Water and very gingerly sipped it, it went down okay, so I guess the Viactiv wasn't stuck, but it did remind me that I can't just swallow whole anymore! I also am gleaning a lot of tips for the future from these threads. If stuck, DO NOT try to drink to wash it down. I'm getting that... I did already buy some papaya enzyme pills, some small cans of pineapple juice (okay, the only thing I'd drink, I mean) and I have meat tenderizer in the cabinet. I figure the more things I have in my arsenal, maybe it will help me ward off the evil stuck/pb/slime spirits. Well, at least that's what I keep hoping!<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

After surgery, many surgeon's have you swallow a radiopaque dye (barium or something like it) which is fairly chalky while they take an x-ray of you swallowing. They are checking to see if the band is in good position and if it it too tight, or if you have a leak at all.

Yep, love it. We've talked about it here on LBT several times before, but it's always good to have a reminder about it. Depends on the layout of the market where you find it. I've found it in the juice aisle, the Water aisle, with the kool-aid/Crystal light, with the coffee/tea, I've also found it in the baking/sugar aisle. The True Orange is the hardest to find. I have found it (these are regional, I know) at Kroger's and at Hiller's. I have found the True Orange Plus (14 packets, each has 100% RDA of Vitamin C) for $3.99 a box at Target. Most places I have purchased the True Lemon and True Lime and True Orange (40 packets in a box for $2.99, 25% RDA Vitamin C-MUCH cheaper than that "Plus" crap) also have the shaker of True Lemon as well (~$3.49)-I know Meijer's carries the shaker. You can also order it from this website, though it is loads more expensive in smaller quantities: True Lemon® I LOVE it because it has NO sweeteners in it at all, and I don't care for any artificial sweeteners. I try to avoid them as much as possible. It really and truly does taste like you squeezed a slice of lemon, lime or orange in your water, etc... I add the lemon or the orange to my vanilla shakes for a yummy alternative.

Dan, they let you drink before your barium swallow? You lucky ducky, you!!!!! They wouldn't let me even have ice chips! I had an upper GI before and though that stuff was the worst, too. But this time it was heaven. It might not be for you if you've already been able to sip some, though. I think it's all in how desperate you are for something to drink, I was desperate!

Toni!! Still there? This damned site won't let my click on your name to PM you! Shnikees!

Nooooooo, before pitching that one, look at the power in it first! the Magic Bullet is ony 225W, so if your current one is close to that, you won't be any happier.

Thanks Heather!!!

The port pain is a bit*h, isn't it? You'll be home soon. And believe it or not, the cold barium was soooooo tasty to me at that moment, I thought I was going to cry. They made me have at least one tray of some liquids and gelatin before I could go, so I hope you get some sustenance before you get out, too.

Think about all the pain we go through, eyebrow plucking or waxing, high heels, thongs, perms, shave burns, nylons, garters,etc...(not to mention child birth). A few minutes every couple of months of having hot wax spread on their balls and having the hair yanked out by the roots seems somewhat appropriate...:heh::heh::heh: :whoo: No, seriously, DH says after the first time it really wasn't so bad. The wax is very warm, that opens the follicles a bit and the yank is really fast, then you immediately apply pressure to the area and it sort of calms the pain quickly.

Congrats on the 8 lbs! I know we are supposed to be concentrating on just healing and not loss right now, and the scale will probably go up for a bit when we start introducing more foods into our diets, but for now it's nice... I just had my staples removed yesterday (one week after OR-a bit early, but they were making me NUTS) and the nurse had to help me find my port. Don't worry, it's in there. Sometimes it is above the port incision by a couple inches, sometimes it's off to the side, and sometimes it's right under the incision (mine is). I am completely numb above my port incision and the one closest to it. They must have gotten a nerve during the OR and I'm glad for now, but I'm dreading the return of feeling! But tbeing numb is the only way I was able to push on my belly and find the port. Here's a link to a thread I started a while back about what folks were closed with: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/what-were-your-incisions-closed-31852/ The glue eventually falls off, you can trin the edges that are lifting with little nail scissors or clippers (wipe the blades with alcohol first, jut to make sure they are clean, though). I had very sticky stuff all over my belly, it is from the sheet of film they put over your skin in the OR to keep the site sterile. It's usually yellowish (called Ioban). You can try a variety of things to get it off. Goo Gone!, nail polish remover, any adhesive remover (but those are so expensive) or my favorite, baby oil. It takes a while to work it off with anything, so I smeared baby oil over the whole stick area and then slowly worked at it with a cloth rubbing back and forth. I did have to scrape it with my fingernails in areas. I have some stuff we use in the hospital (Detachol) and that worked NO better than the baby oil did on the Ioban. After you've finished, just make sure you gently wash the area with antibacterial soap (Dial, etc) and pat dry.

Taint is an old Beavis and Butthead term. Tain't your crotch and tain't your ass...
-
I also hate the "floss" effect and the feeling of having a hair ball in your throat you get when fellating a man if they have hair, ewwwww.
-
You're lucky! Though mine doesn't really grow fast, it is coarse. My hubby prefers it to be completely bare. So do I, actually. I prefer me bare, and I prefer men bare. I never thought I would, but the first time I was with a man who was trimmed nicely, I LOVED it. Then I was with one who didn't trim and it was like a brillo pad. Men look sooooooo much better without hair. It also makes it look TONS bigger. And yes, a brazilian wax is TOTALLY bare, front and taint. I have brazilian waxed DH many times, but I don't have the cahones to have him wax me. I'd have a professional do it, but I can't see having one do it until I'm at least 100lbs lighter than I am now.

I Have A Date For Surgery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
faithmd replied to coltonwade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
congrats Mindy!!!!! how very exciting! -
I'm sorry you are hurting so much still (I know I was pretty uncomfy, but was fortunate enough to skip the gas pain so far). Thank goodness you didn't die! (Isn't it amazing what we convince ourselves of?) You can eat yogurt and custard and soup out of the gate? Awesome! It really does boggle the mind the vast differences in diets and requirements for fills, etc. Pssst, Marga: your sig stretches the page way out, can you perhaps put one of the tickers on the next line down? Or perhaps you are going to delete your days since surgery ticker?

losingjusme, you really do look fantastic! I agree with you about the NSV, my hubby has a PT Cruiser and the seatbelt in that thing is short, short, short. At my heaviest I barely got it buckled in the driver's seat (the passenger seat is a little longer), I had to exhale and really tug/push to snap it. Now I have enough slack to lean forward and turn to look out all sides of the car!

Suzzzie, thank you for sharing. I am very sorry to hear that you are still having problems. I don't have a recliner (or I'd probably still be in it, too), which is a good thing because my surgeon is very anti-recliner because of how it can (supposedly-they did cite articles) contribute to DVT's (pressure on the back of the legs). I have a nagging "tearing/ripping" pain between my port incision (which is totally numb for about 3 inches above and 5 inches across it) and the next one to my right that occurs when I am laying and trying to stand. At first I thought my port was there and I was feeling the pulling of the sutures on the fascia. But when I got my staples out today, the nurse helped me find my port which was actually directly below the port incision and not up from it. I don't know for sure but it feels like the low profile one. I hope you feel better very soon. I still haven't told many people and at this point, I don't plan to. I had been losing weight prior to my OR so I doubt anyone will think anything weird.

Not sure I'm that happy, either... But it worked, he avoided all my markings.
