Pin up Shoto Shoot??
faithmd replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
WOW! Love the look! And if you have the $$$ I'd do it now and later. You'd have before and after PS shots. I think it's a great idea! -
Geez, sucks to be you right now. I've got a nice piece of berry bread pudding calling my name, it is covered with cream sauce. Course I can say that, I've still got well over 140lbs to go to get to goal. I'm not feeling a pinch or push. Take one spoonful of alfredo. One spoonful, that may do it, it does for me. I can't understand depriving yourself sooooo much, then again, I'm not 3 freaking amazing fantastic pounds to goal. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!! Think about it though, you'll have many pounds taken off during PS, so you probably are already AT goal? See, you can have TWO spoonfuls of alfredo. I think it's amazing you are accomplishing your goal in one year, how fantastic! But do NOT beat yourself up or live on 400 calories, that's just not enough to sustain a cat. You have to be somewhat satisfied on what you eat. Hey, do they make an Alfredo Protein shake?

No, you cannot hurt ANYTHING by being conservative. I was very conservative, I think most docs are starting to move people along faster because so many patients complain and complain about being hungry and despserate to chew. The data about the newer bands seems to speak to less slippage so I think hungry patients plus a little less slippage=faster progression. Note I said LESS slippage. Not NO slippage. As long there is a chance, even an tiny one, that a slip can occur, I think it's a GOOD idea to go slower. My diet was 1 week clears with three meal replacement/protein shakes per day, two weeks full liquids (after the first week or so I could add THINNED cream of wheat and RUNNY mashed potatoes). Then two weeks mushy/pureed, then two weeks SOFT (juicy canned chicken, eggs, cooked vegetables, soft fishes, etc). I APPLAUD you for wanting to go slowly!

Did they take you off the pill? Give your doc a call this morning, and I'd make sure to get a little more salt in your diet and drink a lot of fluids in the meantime.

2cc filll and I don't feel restricted...
faithmd replied to augbander07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Totally normal, it can take 2-4 or more fills to get to your "sweet spot" Read this thread, it explains it all: (It's only about four or five down the page in the forum you posted in.) http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f13/how-lap-band-actually-works-fills-refills-41738/ -
Every doc is different

faithmd replied to skinnymom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Check out this thread, it will explain why that is: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f13/how-lap-band-actually-works-fills-refills-41738/ -
I use a little greek strained Yogurt in my chicken breast along with a touch of relish and some light Miracle whip, LOADS of protein! And yes, it is YUMMY!

FFS, DO it! Absolutely, put those blue flames on there! That would look fab! I'm struggling, too. But it's hand to mouth disease in my case.

I am so glad to hear you are doing better! Thank you for keeping us updated. -
What do you (anyone) think?
faithmd replied to hoping's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is YOUR life and YOUR health. I obviously do not know any of the particulars of your relationship and do not need to, but if you have been together for 11 yrs and he's your BF, not your DH, there's an issue... You do not have to answer to anyone, if this is something you feel you need to be healthy and you are committed to doing, then by al means, go do it! -
Brandy, I'm all yours Monday morning October 8th at 0800! I'll be there for ya, babe!

Consultation questions..what to ask the Doc?
faithmd replied to Fish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to this forum: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/ There you will find post-op checklists, references about the band and a couple of threads with questions to ask. -
Caffeine in large amounts is a no-no because it is a diuretic (and we sometimes have difficulty getting enough fluids in), it can also upset some people's stomachs. My surgeon says no caffeine (which I already gave up for other reasons), but I would expect the occasional glass of tea or cup of coffee would be alright.

i now have to meet with a different surgeon

My Hair is Falling Out!!??
faithmd replied to realmccoy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, congrats on your loss! Second, :welcomeB: to LBT. I say that because a)it says you only have 4 posts, and b)you can't have been here long if you haven't seen TONS of threads about hair loss. I am very sorry you have had to experience this. I am as well, I have red (natural) hair past my waist and it is falling out in gobs. I am beyond DEVASTATED. But I am not alone. I have gotten 80-130grams of Protein a day, I take a Calcium supp, I take a MVI, I take Biotin, I do EVERYTHING I am supposed to and it has not made one iota of difference. Most everyone says that it starts around four months after weightloss starts (could have a little to do with anesthesia, but I started losing before surgery and my hair loss coincides with a few months of weight loss) and supposedly stops about 11months to a year in. I'm hoping it does. But as WASaBB says, I can cover up thin hair with a wig, I can't cover up fat. Here's just a FEW of the threads about hair loss here. I only included ones with multiple pages of posts. Hope reading through them helps you! I feel for you, I really do! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f15/my-hair-40332/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/hair-loss-omg-39379/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/hair-loss-38281/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/hair-loss-36669/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f15/experienced-bansters-question-about-hair-loss-37568/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/hair-loss-35369/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/hair-loss-question-34813/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/i-am-losing-my-hair-12139/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/hair-loss-band-30639/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f15/help-im-losing-my-hair-30185/http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/poll-does-everyone-lose-their-hair-23457/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/hair-loss-19464/ -
It all depends on what your insurance requirement is. If your requirement states MONTHLY visits with your MD, and you haven't consistently done that, then no, that wouldn't work. Call your insurance company, or your prospective ins co and ask about the specific policy and specific employer you work for. That makes a HUGE difference.

I have to second Betsyjane's post...long term effect: weightloss and improved health. There isn't any cutting or reconfiguring of your organs, so I am not sure what long term effects there could be. Unlike RNY where you have malabsorption and Vitamin deficiencies to deal with. The band is supposed to stay in a lifetime (or at least a lot of years-like 20 or so). If it has to come out, the surgery would be minimally invasive like putting it in. Can you imagine in 20 years what we may be able to do for obesity? May not need any kind of surgery. So I'd rather have something that could just easily be taken out than lose feet of intestine (RNY) that I can't grow back.

What type of pain killers can you take?
faithmd replied to katylady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tylenol (acetaminophen). You can buy adult liquid or chewable Go Tabs. -
I'm glad you had a good vacation! I'm supposedly on vacation now (sitting at home, BORING!) I dunno about whether you'd be a cheater or not. At work there is a Biggest Loser challenge going on. It was $100 to enter, top 3 of % weight lost splits the pot. I didn't enter because I thought perhaps I was cheating. But then again, I haven't been filled, so I don't know if I'd be cheating, I waffled until the challenge started and thus, didn't enter. But a city challenge, who's to say if there isn't someone who had bypass in it, too? I say go for it, it's X-mas moola, right?

What a profound, honest, soul-baring statement...I thank you for putting words to a fear that I have. Though I am only 1/3 of the way through my journey (weight-wise), I struggle with the probable realization that this isn't going to fix what may be broken. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the weight is what has held me and my psyche back all these years...but what if it isn't? I know I came into this thread really late in the game, but I've read over the many pages and you are an amazingly insightful, wonderful group of folks. I'm so glad BBK told me to come check it out! I don't know if my situation is any different, I don't know all of your histories, but I have been fat since I was 9. I was actually rail-thin until I started growing boobs going into my fourth grade year in Elementary School. My third grade pic, skinny. Fourth grade, moon face. And I have been heavy ever since. So I don't know what it's like to be a normal weight as a woman. I have no idea what it feels like to have anyone whistle as I walk by, I have no idea what it's like to walk into a room and not be stared at because the fat lady walked in. I'd love to blend. Maybe some day I will. But I truly wonder if I ever get to a semi-normal weight (or even to Overweight) how my life will change. My husband met me at about 270ish. I married him at about (I'm guessing) 290ish, how is our relationship going to change as I lose? He does not have a jealous bone in his body, not one. I hope that continues as I lose. I see so many threads and posts about husbands who get insecure and jealous and start acting like a fool as their wives lose weight. I don't want that to be me. But if it is, then so be it. What is it they say, a practice husband? But in terms of my life, there are so many things I want to do. So many things I haven't done and I have no explanation why. Lazy? Fearful? Dunno, but I guess I'd better start figuring that all out, huh? Before too much longer the fat suit will be falling off and I'll be naked as it were with no padding. Thank you again for writing this, Brandi.
