CONGRATS on your new toy!!! That is sooo excellent!:car::car:

I tried to email her through the site here and it says she's chosen not to receive email (but lots of us do that), so I sent her a PM. But she hasn't signed in since 9/15...
-
Her blog and website are disabled, I hope everything is okay!

No, you're not odd, I wasn't hungry, either. Sometimes we are lucky for a bit. I didn't get truly hungry until I was about 1/2 way through my pureed stage. And then it was really only head hunger.

Tips to reduce swelling?
faithmd replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still have some swelling down in the fascia where it was manipulated to sew the port in place. The PA in my surgeon's office says she sees that from time to time. My post-op swelling from the gas, etc. was almost four weeks. Walking, walking, walking and ice packs. -
I hadn't thought about a tighter outfit, that's a great idea. I haven't taken any pix in a while, I'm a slacker. I promised myself I'd take montly ones. I haven't. I also promised myself I'd take measurements, I haven't. That's the one thing I wish I could go back and change, that I would get the measuring tape out and write them down.

I'd find a new surgeon, that's outrageous for a self-pay price!

NWWLS - new post-op diet?
faithmd replied to BluesByrd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is NOTHING wrong with EXTENDING your phases. At the ASBS conference this past June there was a presentation regarding post-op diets and apparently there was a paper done about how you didn't need to have the looong time on each stage. Supposedly newer research shows that the slip rate isn't much higher in those who progress fatster through the stages. Now, this was presented at the same time the newer AP bands were released to the US market. I know there is the thought that the AP will have less slips and less erosion because of the way it is constructed. Apparently that's proven itself to a degree in Australia where the AP has been in use for a while now. However, I would not want to chance anything. And if your doc is not using the AP, then I would not want to progress faster through the stages with the standard 4cc band at all (it is smooth on the inside, the VG and AP have baffles or pillows si it supposedly holds onto the stomach a bit better). But many docs have changed their post-op diets based on this presentation. I have to wonder if it wasn't partly because of the newer AP, partly a study and a LARGE part was how much we whine post-op about how long we are on liquids and mushies. Dunno, could be. But as was stated above, the Allergan website still lists the stages as being longer, and they not only are the manufacturer (so of course there are some liability issues), but they also are the ones who introduced the AP to the US market, one would think if they supported the shorter stages, they'd have revised their materials, but they haven't. -
Wait! I just read her profile and she says she's an educator FOR Kuri? I'm cornfuzzled.

I didn't mean that as a slam if you are a person who eats 800 calories a day, I just mean that I would likely HAVE to do shakes to get it in if that was the calorie guideline I followed. I like the shakes, but they don't fill me up and I find myself not substituting a shake for a meal, I'll have one in ADDITION to a meal. Bad for me, I know. So I don't do shakes.
-
Nope, don't drink ANY shakes. I eat it. I track on fitday.com and I average 1300-2000 calories a day. It would be damned near impossible if I only ate 800 calories a day.

Day 4, post-op...and I'm craving solids!
faithmd replied to catnip_addict's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do NOT do it, step away from the solids!!!!! Congrats on being banded! -
Not knowing any of the "drama" there (never been an OH user), I have to be impartial and say I didn't read that as a spanking, but we are all different. I do know that since I've been here I have read a lot of posts by people who have felt slighted there or have had problems there. Not that LBT is Utopia, either, but I do know that our mods seem to be fair and not heavy-handed and try to keep peace as best they can. We try to keep ourselves in check. Perhaps what WASaBB wrote was a result of some history she has experienced there or what she's read in the past. Some forums are a good fit, some are not, in any case, :welcomeB: to LBT, Chelle B. We hope you will like it as much as you like OH. I like it better because I can't stand the lack of any organization in the forum over there. It's just all posts listed chronologically. Tough to follow.

Where are all the Michigan people at??
faithmd replied to Cinnaberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
obesityhelp.com is a great resource to look up people's thoughts and reviews about surgeons. But you need to put in the names individually and remember to click on OH when doing your search. Good Luck! -
Doctor overfilled me and refused to help me
faithmd replied to sar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It does, thank you. And I am so sorry that you are going through all this, I agree that it's awful no one called you back! Try fillcentersusa.com Even if it is a drive, you would be able to have care. -
That would describe me. I eat on average 80-120 grams per day...still falling out.

WHY were you denied? If it was becuase of a total exclusion then you have little to no recourse. If it was based on other factors, do they not have to tell you exactly why so you can fix it? I was denied on the first go-round as well, but it was because I hadn't lost the 5% required by my company.
-
Thanks!!!!!

Lordy, I've had stocks in one form or another since I was 12 years old and that is the first time I guess I've seen it in print called DRIP, I'm out of touch! Thanks! You learn something every day, huh? I still wonder about the updates, hmmmm. Even Allergan updated the LapBand a couple times.

Haven't heard anything about Sparrow. How long has their program been running? I was banded at Hurley and have been fairly pleased. -
Awwww, thanks! You're doing fantastic yourself!

Doctor overfilled me and refused to help me
faithmd replied to sar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you Wheetsin for writing this, I wanted to ask all those questions but wasn't sure how to put it all. I also was wondering who the OP meant when she says "My MD is shocked over what is going on. " Which MD? Her PCP? Or her surgeon? And who is that, the cadiologist? I echo your questions as to why her surgeon would ever say he isn't supposed to do fills? That makes less than NO sense to me... BTW, to the OP, there is a Fill Center USA somewhere in Texas, I think Houston, possibly Austin, check out their site: fillcentersusa.com -
Adjusted goal-is the number all that should matter?
faithmd replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oooooo, 0.5 lb!!!! Go WASaBB!!!!! I have no idea what goal will be for me. I'm so far from that, I prefer not to think about it. I know what the tables say, but I don't know what I want. In my adult life I've never been close to a normal weight, so I have no clue what I'll look like even at 200lbs. So how can I say 167 is my personal goal? It's my surgeon's goal.
