They do? No one mentioned that to me... I will ask my surgeon next time I go in. Thanks!
-
There is NO WAY to predict, I'm sorry! You can get an average, but even that is not accurate at all. Mine was an overnight stay. I was out by 1pm, but the woman next to me wasn't close to leaving, her surgery was the same time as mine. Depends on how long it takes the nurses to get your discharge orders processed after the surgeon actually writes them. Everyone wants out of there, so they process them in the order received. How long it takes Radiology to get you in for your swallow test, how long it takes to have it read, how long it takes YOU to wake up from anesthesia. How well your pain is under control. Can you pee on your own, can you drink and keep things down? Way too many factors to predict, sorry. But I wish you the very best of luck, and :welcomeB: to LBT!
-
Are you both still taking your pain meds? That could be the cause. Also, residual effects can last for a few days from the anesthesia.
-
Dr. Curry's website has Biotin supps that you can order. Maybe they'll be easier to take? I've not looked at them.

Yup, it was mentioned but it always bears repeating, Nana. I get 80-120gramd of protein a day, still losing

Keep your hair. Take your vitamins
faithmd replied to sipgel.biz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I appreciate the intent, but for so many of us: IT DOES NOT MATTER!!!!! Some of us have done EVERYTHING and we still lose hair. All of my levels (eight vials of blood later) for Protein, pre-albumin, Vitamins, metals, hormones, etc... have been tested and EVERYTHING is perfect. Some people DO respond to vitamins, some respond to protein, some respond to nothing (me). I read your list and then went to my supplements and my computer program that tracks my intake and I'm getting all you listed. Not too much, either. I guess my point is that if you are going to lose it, you are going to lose it. It comes back (or that's what folks who have been in my shoes already tell me) eventually. I'm sorry, I just get annoyed when I see a post like "Keep your hair" because no, it does NOT guarantee you will keep it. I know this thread was well-intentioned, but there are simply LOADS of threads about hair loss and sadly, it's just a fact of life for many of us... -
Am I the only one who is paying cash?
faithmd replied to benson1029's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, what do you think happens when you lose weight? Your skin is loose. Few people do not need plastic surgery. But then again, you do not HAVE to have PS, you can just wear girdles if need be. There is no way to tighten SKIN. You can tighten underlying muscleand that ma make skin look better. Some people gained evenly all over their bodies and didn't stretch their skin too much in one area. No one can predict what will happen after you have lost the weight. I know I will need PS, no way to avoid it with 200lbs to lose. With a BMI of 38, you might not need much, but only time will tell. But you know what? I'm not going to worry about that now. What's the point? Would I stay fat just to avoid possible PS? That would be idiotic. I have already told myself that when I get within about 40 lbs of whatever goal I decide, I have to be there for at least one year before I get PS. I want to see what my body will do on it's own. Then that gives me a year to investigate surgeons and save money. Just work on the now. The Band is the first step in a long journey. -
Also, take some time and look around here, there is LOADS of good info. The FAQ and references forum is good. There is also good info about fills in the Fills thread. You will likely not be restricted from your first fill, I just wanted to warn you of that. Most people say it is three to five fills before they reach optimum restriction that sticks with them. It takes time, but you WILL get there.

First, STOP!!!!!! Do NOT go off your diet stages again. I knoe it is tough, but just take each day as a new day, don't beat yourself up for what happened already, just move forward from here. Do your best. If you are in FULL liquids, creamy Soups help alot. The Campbell's Soup-at-Hand soups are good and basically pureed (but not the ones with Pasta in them, stay away from those). No, you likely did not do anything to your band. But no one really knows for certain. If you are not having issues with vomiting, then right now I think you are okay. But again, I'm not your doc. The period of time on the stages after surgery are NOT for losing weight, they are for healing. Please do not get caught up in a scale number right now. Many people GAIN weight in the post-op stage. It's normal. :welcomeB:

Snakes Swimming in inland lakes (but for some reason the Great Lakes are okay..) or ponds or the ocean. Rivers tend to be okay, too. Anything that stings Large dogs that are not chained (was attacked by a Doberman at age 6) Being homeless This one I'm getting better at: Riding an escalator DOWN. I have to chant "Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo" I fell down one at J.C. Penney's when I was about four and my love beads got twisted in the teeth of the steps and I was nearly strangled. Geez, how did I make it this far in life?

Not every MD and nutritionist says this. You should always follow what yours says.

I did the skydiving thing when I was 18 before I got too fat, it was GREAT! That's what I'm doing, too. But I'll do it as soon as I can. For goal (whatever that is) I think I'll buy a used Corvette (if I have the $$).

Yup, one of the most valuable things my father taught me was something he learned in the Army. There were three allowed responses in my house when I was growing up: "Yes Sir (or Dad)" "No Sir (or Dad)" "No Excuse Sir (or Dad)" None of this whining pansy-ass crap. I didn't do it, it's not my fault, waaa waaa waaaa. If it really wasn't my fault, then I'd get the opportunity to logically DISCUSS the situation and present my side of the story with reasons to back it up. Hallelujiah! I have often said that if someone jacks my car, they had better hope to God that I don't get my hands on them, because I'd take it out of their hide. You want a car, go get a f$cking job and earn the money for one! There was a story in Detroit last week where three people attempted to carjack a guy RIGHT IN FRONT OF POLICE HQ!!!! No regard for law. Guess what? The guy they tried to jack had a CCW and his gun on him...He shot and killed one of them and the other two were taken into custody. Police: Carjacker Shot During Carjacking - Local News Story - WDIV Detroit Why on earth do parents buy clothing for thier kids that say Porn Star on it or Juicy on the ass? Nutheads! Amen, sister! I am not a fan of tramp stamps, you know who that's sexy to? The guy who looks at it and says, wow, I bet I could get her bent over a chair in about ten minutes... And about the children in poor countries? Give them some food while you are there filming the damned commercial. Nah, I love novellas like this!

I get sick and tired of people posting questions here that could so easily have been answered by then visiting the FAQ and References Forum. Isn't that what that means? Frequently Asked Questions??? That's the first place I look on any website when I have a question! Arggghh!! Rant over...
-
Totally normal, will probably be sore when getting up or down or bending or twisting for weeks to come. Here's a link, the FAQ and References (where this is from) forum holds LOADS of good information: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/abbreviations-what-they-mean-7959/

Where are all the Michigan people at??
faithmd replied to Cinnaberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's what we're here for! :welcomeB: I do not attend a formal support group, LBT is my only source. And I love it! -
Oh no, I think it is pretty nice! I think that actually would work pretty well. I'll have to remember it!

It's a bit Maize and Blue, but of COURSE you are welcome! I am actually not that militant about college football. -

I'll have to try the A, B, C thing. and Juli, how close are you to Ann Arbor? I have some AWFUL cupboards! -
The skinny thing doesn't bother me so much (I have only had one person say it, and at about 3 bills, I am FAR from that!), but I have one co-worker who has also been banded and she talks about it from time to time with me in front of others. That really bothers me because she knows that she is only 1 of 3 people among the 140 or so that we work with who knows. How do you stop people? And she doesn't want folks to know about her band, either. So you would think she'd be more sensitive!
-
Rastis, I remember several threads about difficulty sleeping around the time I was banded. It seems to me that quite a few of us were having a lot of trouble sleeping for the first few weeks after surgery. It went away. Congrats on being banded!
-
But if someone would just go and read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and References thread it's right there. If I have a question, the FIRST place I always go on a website is the FAQ.
