That's a great loss! I focus on how I "feel". It's so easy to get wrapped up in scale numbers. Also, I like measurements as a gauge for progress since they can show more than pounds.

Wishing there was a 5 year post surgery forum

Well, I'm glad I downloaded this app. I love my support group but there are specific differences in managing the band that others can't relate with. Also, I often wonder if some of the strange band encounters I've had were normal. After skimming the posts I see that the "slime" issue isn't "weird" lol, just a gross occasional byproduct of a finicky band. I love my band, it's been an invaluable tool in aiding me to keep weight off. I am still working on the last 40lbs. I'm down 120 and am now a certified yoga instructor. -
Congrats!

Is something wrong with my band?
Spooky Little Gurl replied to lalinda1236's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I would see a doctor. I have to pay cash too I have lots of passing mystery pain. I attribute it to scar tissue from several surgeries. But I've communicated this with my physician and he keeps an eye on it. Good luck! -
I do yoga so I CAN rest a cup on it, lol.

I love my band. It has been a wonderful tool. But, mine too can be temperamental. -
Gall stones and pancreatitis
Spooky Little Gurl replied to crystaleffexx's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I shut my gallbladder down a year before my surgery while on a liquid diet. I had a bile leak and pancreatitis afterward. I also produced gallstones 4 years later and needed an ERCP. I didn't realize gallstones could be made after a removal, I guess it's rare, lucky me. Try and be patient with your healing body. I was fatigued for a few months afterward. Good luck with your recovery. <3 -

Hello, my name is Sarah. I am in my 4th year being banded. I'm happy to chat. I'm like a unicorn in my surgeon's support group, I'm the only banded person -
Hello, my name is Sarah and I was banded May 11th of this year. I began my weight loss journey 2 years ago at my highest weight ever, 314lbs. I lost 91lbs on a weight management program through a hospital I worked at. It was a high protein liquid diet. I felt great and motivated... until i didn't anymore and proceeded to gain 40lbs back before making an appointment with the surgeon. I lost 34lbs before surgery and 14lbs during my 4 week recovery. Since mid June I have not lost any weight. In fact, I have lost and gained the same 2lbs since then. I underwent my second fill in mid July and I am filled to 5cc's in my 10cc band. To be sure, I cannot eat the volume of food that I could consume before the surgery. But it turns out, whether I eat an entire plate or half a plate of food, my body does not want to let it go. I need a couple of things... An attitude adjustment, a diet adjustment, and some support from those who have been here before. I did seek support at a local group but there was only one person who had the lap band... and upon speaking with her she said she lost little to no weight and wished she's had the sleeve instead. I am not ready to give up. I risked my life for surgery and I don't want to stay fat... I'm so sick of diets and tracking and talking about it. I just want to FINISH IT and begin my journey to maintain... I really don't know how to gauge my band... Nothing has ever felt stuck and I really don't know what "full" is supposed to feel like. I'm thinking I'll go in for another fill next month. I just fear being overfilled.

2-days Post-Op and in pain
Spooky Little Gurl replied to Lemise21's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was in some pain and I took liquid Vicodin, that put the ca-bash on just about any feeling =) The BEST thing for the pain though is walking, most of my pain was gas related. An hour after surgery I walked a mile through the halls at the hospital. Keep walking and burping... it WILL pass.
