Thought I would share what I recently found. I purchased it at our local HEB, but it is listed at GNC for cheaper. There is about 25 grams of Protein per cup. Pure Protein website (This website offers a coupon) GNC online store- offers the Jello at $5.99!

Interesting. My nutritionist was thrilled about this and says it is a great source of protein. -
Getting Pregant After having the Sleeve done...
JBoyd replied to adrienneb86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also curious to know, we plan on trying in a year or so. I am one month out. My doctor has had many sleeve patients get pregnant and have a successful pregnancy. -

Well, I'm at my 2 weeks PO. I've been on regular, mashed up foods (and sometimes not so mashed up) food for a few days now. Today, I feel like all I did was eat! I really didn't think I would be able to hold this much but I was. Somewhat. I did great all day, being at work is easy because you are busy and not focused on eating. However, after 5 was a different story today. I had turkey Jerky, some chex mix (hey, no judging). A few hours later I had some lasagna. While I was eating the lasagna, I felt guilty as I shouldn't be eating it. I didn't need it, I'd already had my "meal" of jerky and chex mix. It went down fine, then all of a sudden it hit me. I had way too much. I got the "feeling" that I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get. I had wayyy too much today. The feeling is hard to describe. It isn't painful, just a little uncomfortable. It was just siting in my throat. No pain, just sitting there. Well, I gagged myself and made myself throw up. Yes, I do feel better. And now I know what to expect should I stuff myself again. Much to my demise, I dint feel stuffed. But according to my throat, I was.

You will get hungry. Trust me. You are on liquids, I just finished that stage. Once you go o mached foods and such, it gets WAY better. Of course, this is coming from a new patient of only 2 weeks ago.

12 days PO today, and I have my followup with the doctor this afternoon. Boy, am I hungry today. Of course, it doesn't help that I am torturing myself and looking at all the fabulous recipes from The Pioneer Woman! *sigh* Only a couple more days until I can chew.....never thought I would look forward to something so much!

That is GREAT news! Hopefully this new place will take care of you and set it all up.

A heck of a lit better than plain Protein shakes! I was mistaken though. Tere is only like 23 grams of protein. -

Glad you are doing well! I was a band conversion as well, I have my sleeve on Aug. 25. So far so good! Keep up the good work! -
Congrats! You are going to love being able to chew! I had my 1.5 week apt. yesterday, and he advanced me as well. Told me to start trying different foods, just taking it slow. I had a whole egg and a piece of toast this morning.

Aww, I'm sorry. I was denied at first also. I never had to deal with insurance though. From day 1, my doctor said all he has to do is write them a letter detailing why I needed to convert and he thought I would be approved. I received a letter saying that I wasn't, that they needed more information. My doctor also received the letter as I was blind copied. He automatically sent them my whole chart showing all of my past visits from my lap band. A few weeks later, I was approved! Good luck!

Yummy bread with protein in it

What kind/flavor do you purchase? -
Howdy! I converted from the lap band to the sleeve on Aug. 25. Today, I put on jeans for the first time since surgery and they were loose! The best feeling in the world. Then, I took my wedding ring to the jeweler to make it SMALLER. I was having to wear it on my right hand, as it fell off my ring finger. I went down 2.5 ring sizes! It was a happy day for me. I know I have rough and difficult days ahead of me, but I am enjoying the fact that today was super!

my story... my emotions
JBoyd replied to iiPinkxLoveii's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
DO NOT get discouraged. The first thing my nurses (who had both had the sleeve) told me at the Hospital after I had mine (I was sleeved here in College Station, TX on Aug. 25) was there will come a time when you think to yourself "why the heck did I do this to myself". Well, upon leaving the hospital I figured they were talking about the pain aspect. Much to my demise, I now know they were talking about the emotional and hunger aspect. I am 11 days out, and counting down the 3 days I have left of liquid land. I am so ready to CHEW. Trust me, we will get through this. A few months from now, you will re-read your post and wonder what the heck.....why didn't I do this sooner!? Chin up, we are all here for each other. I was an emotional wreck this weekend as I was going insane seeing everyone eating (CHEWING) while I was basically drinking. I love food. I miss my full stomach. What I realize today, is that I can still love food, but make much better decisions. I don't have to eat the whole of anything....but I still get to eat a portion of it. This is a huge emotional journey, and we will succeed. -
I am post op 10 days. I have been battling the hunger as well, as I am able to get a lot more than 4 oz. down at one time. I was told that it will change and be better once we reach the stage II diet. I am struggling right now with stage one. Every doctor is different on the restrictions, but my stage II consist of liquids and thinned oatmeal, grits or cream of wheat. Of course, I have also been doing Applesauce and Tomato Soup...they have gone down great.

Gastric Sleeve done on 8/26/11...Struggling a bit...
JBoyd replied to meggspeggs's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there. My nurses after I was sleeved both told me that there will be times when you wonder "what the heck did I do to myself". They both were sleeved. I am 10 days out and, while I haven't really regretted what I've done, I have started to miss my best friend: food. That seems to be the worst for me right now. I know once I am able to chew again things will be different. As for the ride home from the hospital, I was just fine. I have been able to drink and drink and drink with no problem. Haven't had gas pains. I was a conversion, as I had my lap band removed and got the sleeve on the 25th. The only problem I have had is the feeling of being hungry, and trying to stay in line with my liquid diet. This weekend was an emotional one...I am missing food. Hang in there. -
Thanks, everyone. I am sure that once I am actually able to CHEW something, I will feel a lot better. I have noticed that I've got reflux...been getting the burning in the throat, which I have never had before. I take something as needed, but form the sounds of it you all take something daily. I will try that, I have some Zantac. As for the Protein, I haven't been doing that as much as I shall. I have now become lactose intolerant (hopefully this will pass with time, I hear it does). I had been doing the unjury, and liked it (Chocolate). But now, even with Lactose free milk, it is just not the same. Upsets my stomach and it is hard for me to bring myself to drink it. What protein works for you? I am open to suggestions!

I converted from the lap band to the sleeve, and am 10 days out. Honestly, the recovery for the band was worse than the recovery for the sleeve has been. I have not had nearly any pain and very little discomfort. I didn't think I would be hungry, but can swear I have felt this way a few times. I am having trouble staying on the liquid diet, as I want more. I realize this is a big mind game, but I am ready for something of substance. Currently, I am doing tomato Soup and applesauce as my meals. I have caught myself eating more than 4 oz, I didn't think I would even have the appetite to get that much down. I feel as though I need something else to eat to be satisfied and have caught myself in the pantry getting a little spoon of Peanut Butter and "sneaking" it. I have had no trouble getting it down, I just feel as though I want more. I know once I start the stage II diet, it will be much better. I am just ready to be off the liquids as it is really getting to me. Did anyone else feel this way? I thought for sure I wouldn't even have the want to eat...but that is totally not the case.
