Thanks! I remember reading that a number of people said their taste buds changed post-surgery but couldn't exactly remember why. It was strange, the Miso tasted so fishy I couldn't get past the smell. There was no fish-stuff in it either! It was just the paste. 
Oh well...five weeks, I'll try again.
