Lactose intolerant post-surgery?
AutumnLily replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yoghurt is tolerated as the bacteria break the lactose sugar down for you. That is why you had no problems with the yoghurt. The lactose free milk is perplexing as to why it is causing you mild discomfort. My only thought would be that it is only approx 99 to 98% lactose reduced and you are having a mild reaction to the small percent that remains. I would either try almond milk or if you like the soy ones try them. Your stomach is still healing. Slowly introduce the lactose reduced milk after some healing time. Lily -

Surgery in Edmonton
AutumnLily replied to Michelin Woman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not know they perform the VSG in Edmonton. Still too long of a wait for me even though I have to wait till early next year to have the surgery. Faster than health care here and Dr Aceves seems to be a very experienced surgeon which I would prefer to have. Lily -
Sleeved for 5 hours now!
AutumnLily replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Moms can sometimes be hurtful. I think that is why I do not plan on telling my family as I know I will get the lectures over and over from everyone of how I have ruined my life. Just know that you have a great support group here. And hopefully Mom will come around. Lily -

helium... don't do it!!!
AutumnLily replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a good friend this year pass away from breathing in helium.. As Ouroborus stated its better to stay away from the stuff. Helium blocks the capnic response and you will never feel the need to struggle for air. So be careful as too much can kill you. Lily -
Is it possible to drive 3 days after?
AutumnLily replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh and Blackberry I would offer to drive and pick you up but I will be out of town at the time of your surgery. I know the cab is super expensive to get out to the airport. See if there is an airporter bus that goes out and then only need to cab to say a hotel in downtown Edmonton. Just a thought. Would be alot cheaper that way. check out edmontonskyshuttle adult rate is 15$ -

Why don't you just call Jillian?
AutumnLily replied to KabinKitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its true it is no ones business but your own. I think its better to keep this surgery to ourselves to avoid all the negative people out there with their comments on where we went wrong. I had a friend that did this surgery several years ago and what people said behind her back was atrocious. I know that I will not be sharing this information with friends and family. Only ones will be the great support network here and also my doctor. -

AutumnLily replied to CraftyChristie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love your updates! Especially the pictures of before and after. I see a difference and makes me want to get the surgery sooner. Too bad I have to wait. Oh well better later than never I say. And I will get to see you get to goal most likely which will give me the driving force to do this journey. -
My First 5K!!!
AutumnLily replied to CraftyChristie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations!! If you or anyone is wanting to do a long walk there is the Camino de santiago in Spain. Its 780 Km. You can choose how many Km's you walk a day and you stay at Alberges (hostels ) along the way. I hear it is amazing and you experience a wonderful culture. Its something to work towards if it interests you. -
I'm in Freaking hell
AutumnLily replied to Phatcurves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Trust me I have been in several of these types of relationships and the one thing in common was me allowing them to treat me horrible. Christie is right you should take care of yourself and get rid of the dead weight (no pun intended). He will never change. He will always be this insensitive and you owe yourself to find out who you are. Living on your own for even a year or two will make a world of difference. I know I am a new woman and will never settle for anyone that does not share my same interests/feelings in life ever again. -

Flonase or Nasonex anyone post-op
AutumnLily replied to Tiffykins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Flonase or Nasonex anyone post-op
AutumnLily replied to Tiffykins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the netti pot or nasal rinse. The nasal rinse will move heavier mucus out but if you use the netti pot religiously it should work. They both come with packets of premade saline rinse. You can make your own but you have to be careful as to what salt you are using. DO NOT USE regular table salt it is bad for the nasal meninges. Here is a recipe for your own 1/2 tsp non iodized salt 1/2 tsp baking soda mix it with distilled or pre-boiled Water to make sure you do not give your self a Pseudomonas infection in the nose. Wow all that information is wonderful! Thanks for sharing
