Now I have the song " Why can't we be friends?" running through my head. I think its a great song to think of when it comes to food. Lily -

Suegery Scheduled Nov 15th
AutumnLily replied to ginnylee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think everyone has a fear of the unknown. Having to wait as long as I have there have been times that I think what am I doing! And then I see the progress of so many and say yes that is why I am going to do this. I have no advice as to how to over come this. I think everyone has to deal with this scary unknown in their own way. Hope this has helped. Lily -
Congratulations on your new journey! From what I have read it only gets better. I can not comment as I am yet to be sleeved. Keep us posted on your recovery and experiences along the way. Lily

You are taking charge of your own health. I say kudo's to you! You might want to sit down with your teens and discuss why they are not being supportive. It could be due to not knowing enough information about the sleeve surgery. There is alot of support here on the boards. It might be good to find a buddy on here that you can just talk too when you are feeling overwhelmed. Lily

Good luck on your surgery! Keep us posted on your progress. Lily

Here is my story....
AutumnLily replied to tryinagain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow it seems there are several people that have had problems with the band. Too bad you had to wait 3 years to find out that there was a leak in the band. I doubt your doctor who left knew there was a problem but you were ment to meet the new doctor and find a positive out come. Keep us updated on your progress. Lily -

travel and timing of surgery?
AutumnLily replied to AmMatthew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had the surgery yet. But I have heard from some that they were ready to get back to work within 1 week and others needed longer. I guess it is up to the way you heal and overcome the gas that is pumped into your abdomen. I can not say but maybe others that have had the surgery will be able to let you know what to somewhat expect. Lily -
Congratulations Skeebo! Keep us updated on your amazing progress. Lily

Just an FYI the sleeve is the first step in a duodenal switch. So you could try the sleeve and if you are not progressing as well as you like then you can get the second portion on the surgery that would include the malabsorption (DS). Lily

Which Scales Do I Believe?
AutumnLily replied to cbchebert's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doc scale would be more accurate. Make sure your scale is on level ground and not carpet (they can both give off results). Gayle I think eveyone would love to have your WII fit scale :-) Lily -
Staples come out post-op??
AutumnLily replied to MrsMaddBroadway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am assuming the staples that were removed were used to close the areas on the abdomen where the instruments went in. The staples used on the stomach will stay in for life. Lily -
