Anyone taken an appetite suppressant post op?
AutumnLily replied to mp8btpc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could it be stomach acid? Are you on Prilosec or a PPI? Just wondering as that is what others have said their hunger pains were due to. -
TORN on what to do
AutumnLily replied to hopeandfaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a sister that wants to help but is causing pain while doing so. Only you will be able to make the decision if you tell your sister before you have the surgery or on your way to the surgery. If she truly loves you she will come around eventually and she did with your other sister. You will figure it out. But in the mean time you can come and vent here all you like. Better to get rid of the anger than to suppress it. -
Sadie my date has been set for Feb 20 with Dr Aceves. So we will be going through the recovery at the same time. I am excited and to make sure that I will not back out I have already paid for my flight tickets and put down my deposit. I am ready to start this journey! Lily

2 months out and hardly eating
AutumnLily replied to marmar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No it was not after a surgery. She is older in her 60's and if I remember correctly it is just due to poor muscles in the esophagus (I think). Yours sounds different with the same proceedure. When she gets ithe proceedure done she is great for eating but with her age the proceedure only lasts for a year and the muscles start to narrow again. Lily -
2 months out and hardly eating
AutumnLily replied to marmar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know of a family member who needs their esophagus stretched every so often and they have not had WLS surgery. Where they put a tube with a ballon down and inflate then deflate the balloon. They are good for awhile but she has had to have it redone a couple of times over the years. Not sure if this is the same problem. Lily -
mmmm I am going to make that this weekend! sounds very yummy, Lily

I have a good friend that had the surgery and all of the people that were nice to her face were not very nice behind her back. For this reason I will not be telling any of those people that I am having the surgery. As for my family I will eventually have to tell them and I know they are a bunch of gossips as your family is, so I will hold out for as long as possible before letting any of them know. I know what you are going through and the feelings of not being able to share. I t has nothing to do with shame and everything to do with preventing gossip and ignorant comments being made. I hope my family are understanding when I get around to telling them. Lily

benefits of the acai berry
AutumnLily replied to Billy363627's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Its a berry so I do not see any harm. You can also get antioxidant help from blue berries and other blue/red fruits and some green/red veggies. Although Acai has the most potential as an antioxidant. Check with your doctor or nut. Lily -

Flight: Economy vs First Class Post Op
AutumnLily replied to Leesey's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you can afford it then I would say First Class. I on the other hand can barely afford the economy flight so that is the way I will be going. I always choose comfort if I can. Lily -
I am still pre-op and if I eat too much I get hiccups. So I would assume it is the same for post-op. Lily
-
Best option is to start to make sure you are prepped. If all is happening the same way as mom then you will probably get approval as well. Lily

I just paid for my flights and confirmed my surgery dates this past week. I have been nervous, excited and scared but you have helped me calm down a bit. Thank you for your update. Lily I can not wait to be on the loosers bench too :-D

I will be seeing Dr Aceves in February, whom I hear glowing reports about all the time. I have no clue about the cost. You should email the clinic and ask about their prices. Lily

Looking good! Keep up the great work. I can see myself how you used to be and I know I can make a change just by looking at your pictures. Lily -
I have not tried nectar but they are fruity. You could order the sample pack and decide if you like them or not before buying a tub and not being able to return. Lily

At the airport...
AutumnLily replied to Secret Surgery 34's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Keep us posted on your experience! I will be seeing Dr Aceves in Feb 2011. Lily -
I tried them a couple of times. I rinsed them well and then boiled for abit and it helped only slightly. The texture is something to get used to. If you think they are a replacement for spaghetti then you will be upset with the result. I am not a true fan and will not go out of my way to get them again. Lily

There is also a brand from costco that is called Wellesse calcium citrate with Vit D and it is awesome! Two tablespoons will give you 1000mg so you could split it into morning and afternoon for absorption. I have tried this and I say the taste is pretty darn good. Bonus is that it is not that expensive. Hope this helps. Lily

AutumnLily replied to HeresKimmy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I heard that if some people can only handle drinking the Protein shakes if they are really cold. Just a thought. Lily
