Went out to lunch for the 1st time, with my old eating buddies
AutumnLily replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you had you would only be able to eat a very small portion of it. That is the one good thing if your mind says lets eat this and you get it. Your stomach says umm hey I can only have a couple of oz of dense food so enjoy the bites you do get. Better to just steal from your buddies plates (when you are on solids that is). -
I would think so.

Check out maiden form Maidenform these are more reasonable in price.

THANKS ALL FOR SHARING

Welcome to the group Dea! Glad the information here helped you through your post op experience. Keep us posted on your progress. -
OMG I think I laughed hysterically for 5 mins at your comment about the WIIFit being a backstabber. That was funny!

It will vary for everyone but eventually your tastebuds will be back to normal. You just have to keep on trying every so often to figure it out.

Best Unflavored Protein?
AutumnLily replied to sasicas's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Have you tried the syntrax nectar products? They are surprisingly good. You can order samples online to make sure you like them without spending a whole lot of money. -
I loved your comment "and still 5'7". You look amazing and the best part of your after picture is that I am about the same height and I want to be approximately the same weight and now I know what I could possibly look like. It brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you for sharing.

9 days out have MAJOR concerns. HELP!!!!!!!!
AutumnLily replied to Skinnyagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My swelling also went down really fast and I had no problem during the liquid phase to get in all my liquids and Protein. And I could take normal sips. Now that I have been on mushies for 2 weeks I feel restriction. Today I was stupid and ate my omelette too fast and most likely one bite too many. My body let me know there was too much in my stomach and everybody was kicked out of the "pool". I now can eat 3/4 of a 1 egg omelette with chopped up lunch meat and shredded cheese. It seems like barely anything but I feel full. Give your body some time and you will see a change when you are onto more mushie solid foods. -

At one month out ( tomorrow), how many carbs did you bring in?
AutumnLily replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cleared for weights at 6 weeks. But that is my doctor. You might want to check with your doc to make sure they do not want you to wait longer. Carbs I try to keep below 40 but there are days when I go over. When I stalled after one week I decided to up my calories and I did it with some carbs (note it was good carbs BTW). For 3 days I took in almost 100g and it kicked started my weightloss. Now this is me and how my body reacted. Others may find any carbs over 40g will make them stall. Its a guessing game really on how your body is going to relate to all the changes. Are you seeing weightloss with what you are doing right now? Or are you stalled? -
Welcome to the group! There is a lot of information on this board, and some really helpful veteran sleevers.

Confused about post-op week 1
AutumnLily replied to Sara Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are Clear Liquids (Jello, broth, water) fluids you can "see through". Then there are full liquids which include milk, low fat cream Soup, yoghurt and all clear liquids. You may want to contact your doctors office and have him clarify if it is to only be clear liquids or was he meaning full liquids. -
My suspicion about pre-op diets and surgeons
AutumnLily replied to crosswind's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crosswind 600 sleeves for Dr. Aceves seems a low number. I am sure when I checked many months ago that it was higher than that. -
I do not think they are allowed to ask you what kind of surgery you are having! Suffice it to say tell them you can not start till such and such date due to an already scheduled surgery. I know in Canada that the company can get their fingers smacked if they ask what your surgery is for. I am not fully sure on the rules for the US but I am sure they would be similar.

I tried to tell my PCP 6 months before the surgery. Her only concern was that I was going to Mexico and that she did not know much about this type of surgery. But once I came back and had a 1 month appt. She recorded all the information that was sent from the doctor in Mexico to her. She was excited for me and said she was going to become very familiar with this surgery. She wants to check me at 2 months and do the 3 month testing as well.

New Here....3 Year Sleever (Surgiversary March 20)
AutumnLily replied to redayh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This was the best decision I have ever made. I originally was going to get the band but the complications that kept of showing up on the internet scared me into finding another way. VSG had less of a complication rate than any other WLS so I researched and found the doctor for me. I am 5 weeks post op and seeing some great results. -
I will check out your blog. You are well on your way!

I do not expect to be eating food types like I was previously to the sleeve for awhile. I am still on mushies (week 5 for me) and will move onto more solid foods soon but I will slowly introduce them.

I have heard of people using their tax money, 401K, borrowing, student line of credit (need to be a student for this one). Check out different loans. Or make drastic life changes (getting rid of cell, tv, unnecessary shopping..etc) to save as much money as possible. Take on a part time job where all the money can be put into your surgery account. Have the surgery where it is more affordable. These are only suggestions and I hope you figure out which will be the best for you.

I agree 400 calories is too low. Your body is probably in starvation mode and hanging onto everything.

How can any stand the taste of greek yogurt?
AutumnLily replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make my own yoghurt and boy does that have a tart twang to it. I usually use torani sf french vanilla with a little splenda to make it more palateable for me. But I have been known to use it as sour cream on perogies (plain of course). it is an aquired taste as the first time I tried it I was disgusted but as time went on I started to like it. Now I have trouble eating store bought yoghurt. -
