    venting

The ones that love you can also be the ones that hurt you the most. Stick to your guns and do what is best for you. In two years time when you are still maintaining do not say anything to your mother as she will know that you are succeeding. My mom is having a hard time with me having this surgery. She has felt safe in her obesity because she was still smaller than me. Now she is scared that I will be a lot smaller than her in no time. She has tried several times to sabatoge me (making my favourite cookies) making my pre-surgery favourite foods and while eating it is making all these noises of how she is enjoying eating every morsel and then offering me some. I just ignore the behaviour as I have the restraint to not eat those foods. And with me saying no thank you it burns her butt. I am doing this for my health and not to keep my mother happy that at least someone was still heavier than her. She will have to fight her own demons.

    4 Weeks Post-Op - Sleeve

Have you tried the sample packs from syntrax nectar products? This way you can try out different proteins to see if you like them for a small price. Then if you like a specific one you can order a larger tub.

    Calcium confusion

You could also get the liquid calcium citrate with Vitamin D at costco and its really good (at least I think so). Everyone seems to be deficient in the vit D. Here is a link to what kind I get at costco. Costco - Wellesse Liquid Calcium I just noticed the kind you found was one 16 oz bottle for 8$ and the costco one is 33.8oz per bottle and the price is 16$ for a two pack. Much cheaper at Costco. I think you have to order it online in the US. Here in Canada they sell it at the warehouse. Hope you find what you are looking for.
  6. You are doing great at your 2 month mark! Keep up the great progress.
  7. I had to post pone my surgery 6 months because the only day available to me I could not find a flight out early enough that did not conflict with my work. So 6 months later when my next vacation was approved for is when I booked. Sometimes I wonder how much weight I would have lost if I could have found the right flight and had my surgery in August instead of February. The 19 days will fly by and you enjoy that ohh soo buttery popcorn in the mean time. I am salivating thinking about it. I will have some someday just not for awhile.

    Undergrad reunion coming up...

You are with your boyfriend and you just happen to be within earshot of this douche bag. Say to your boyfriend in the language he spoke something really insulting bout the guy. Then walk away. But make sure you say so that he knows that you are talking about him. This way you do not have to remind him of the incident those many years ago. AND you can have some satisfaction that you got an insult back at him.

    Leak Test Post-Surgery

Dr Aceves does 3 leak tests. One in surgery, the blue apple juice the day after and the barium swallow on the third day. I went and saw my doc back here in Canada and said Dr. Aceves asks for a 3 month barium swallow and specific blood tests to be done. She said book an appt with me during month two and I will set up the tests for your third month. I really found two wonderful doctors to take care of me.

Looks like No sleeve for me anytime soon

ahhh I hate to hear of the hoops insurance puts people through! Did you discuss the information insurance sent to you with your doctor? I hope you can get this worked out and will be back on the road to getting your sleeve soon.
  13. When was the last time you lost 27 lbs in 6 weeks and will be able to keep it off? Look at it as the glass is half full! You will get to goal at some point in time. Try not to over think how you are doing. You are doing great!!!
  14. Ahh sorry to hear about your insurances rule. What is your BMI at? Have you thought of self pay? I could of had my surgery covered but I would have had to wait at least 2 years to get in. So I bit the bullet and paid for it myself. Hope you find the answers from others that you are looking for.

    F'd by lapband BIGTIME!

I was originally going to get the lap band, but then I was reading the complications from people and I got scared. It is great to get your story out there to help others avoid the misfortune you have had to deal with. I went on to get the sleeve as my first WLS and I thank everyone who posted a complication to scare me away from that damn lap band. You and your stomach are in my thoughts. I hope your good deed is paid forward and you can get the sleeve.

    Mexico or Bust!!!

I had my sleeve with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. Surgery was $8750 and I had to find my own flights to and from San Diego. They have a driver pick you up. You stay at a hotel the first night there and the expense is covered by the surgery fee. Spending money you do not need much. I spent $12 US for my awesome meal the night before surgery. And then I bought some cheap Nexium at their pharmacy. Total extra money $100 or there abouts.
  17. PCOS, hypothyroid I can not remember all that have been listed here but these two pop up a lot on the boards.
  18. I would recommend you just sip your fluids over a period of time. Your body will give you a pain feeling if you over do it. The first week out I would recommend you spend more time on getting in your fluids to keep dehydration away and not worry about the proteins until you can get in your fluids no problem. First 4 days I only concentrated on fluids after that my swelling went down fast so I was able to get my proteins in (in liquid form).
  19. Do you have any conditions that would make you be a slower loser? Your wedding is a year away and it is possible to lose your 100lbs in 6 months heck some have lost in shorter times. But to be reasonable I would say 6 months 10 months to lose your excess weight. That is if you are not a slow loser. If you stick to your surgeons/nuts post wls eating plan then I do not see why you could not reach you goal long before your wedding. Welcome to the group and keep us posted on your progress.

Seriously - how much do you love eggface?!?!?

I have perused her blog a million times and always salivate over her recipies! I want to make the chocolate protein muffins and the chocolate protein donuts. Mmmmm

    I messed up :(

Its weird how somethings go down ok and others just sit like a lump even if they are the same kind of Protein just cooked differently. Hope you are feeling better before the end of your class.

    Vitamins UGH!

My first couple of weeks out, in the morning, I would put my gummy vitamins in a warm cup of decaf tea. They would dissolve and I would get my vitamins in tea form. Which was not so bad. The colour was weird but they just gave a sweeter taste to my tea.

    MIndless Eating

Coops is right the fluid thing while watching TV is great! I get in all the water I need to and I do not graze. I do have a small snack twice a day but it has to fit into my drinking schedule.

Did you bring someone to Mexico?

I went alone but that is because I did not tell anyone before that I was getting the surgery. I didnt want any grief about it. I think most people brought someone with them. I stayed an extra night (at a hotel) so the extra day made it that much better for me to travel by myself. I am a very independent person so not having someone with me was fine for me, but may not be the case for everyone.
