No apology for expressing yourself on here! I think things have gone quite fast and now that the reality is here you are experiencing a lot of nerves. My journey was over a long period of time and I knew my surgery date several months in advance. So I was able to work through all the emotional rollercoaster that I think everyone goes through. You have only a couple of days to experience it. Plus the added stress that your significant other is not going to be there. Keep us updated on your progress. I have no idea what you can do for the nerves besides deep breaths and maybe a relaxing hot bath. Maybe someone else will post something more substantial than what I have suggested.

Where these behaviours always present (before you started the pre-op diet) or is he going out of his way to do these things? If he did these things before he may not really understand what he is doing. You should have a talk with him about why he feels the need to do this when he knows full well that you can not have the stuff. Is he vindictive and wanting to torcher you? Is he wanting to see if you cave and then you may not be able to get the surgery? Sounds like he is trying to say something but doesnt have the balls to say in with his mouth. How many days before you have your surgery? Maybe when he does these things walk away. Go for a walk or go shopping or just plain leave the room he is in.

Where do you want to be with your weight loss 1 year from now?
AutumnLily replied to Suzannesh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I hope to be at or close to goal but what I think is attainable is to get to onederland first! I know I have a long journey ahead of me and will take it all one pound at a time . -
There was a girl on here a couple of months back that had slipped up on her pre-op diet. Albeit I do not know the details of the slip up but on the day of her surgery her doctor turned her away to be re-scheduled. That being said stop beating yourself up and just believe you CAN finish the pre-op diet. Keep your eye on the prize. I feel for all of you that had/have to do a pre-op liquid diet. I luckily was only a low carb diet for one week. So I can not even imagine the liquids for 2 or even 3 weeks. Just know your doctor has this pre-op diet in place for a reason. I am cheering you on for your pre-op success!!!

Good question.. I personally have not seen a site that compares but I would love to get the low down on price comparisons.

How much Fluid are you getting in? I would worry more about dehydration at this point than protien. Sip sip sip all day long. For the Protein drinks have you tried Syntrax nectar products? They do not have the strong protein taste nor are they thick. You could order the sample pack from the company to try them out. Sampler pack I think is 13$ that includes shipping. Syntrax Click the link and check out what they offer. You order the sampler pack on the phone from them. It doesnt hurt to try other Proteins. Your new tummy is probably still very swollen and will need time to come down for you to feel better about eating. I have no desire for food I just know that I need to eat something to survive. Somedays if I forget to eat I get an empty feeling in my tummy. Can you get your morning meds and Vitamins in liquid form. These may be better for your swollen tummy for the time being. Hope your feeling better soon.

The Dreaded Stalls...
AutumnLily replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls happen and the only explanation that I have heard that makes sense is that you have gone from lots of calories to very little calories. Your body thinks its in starvation mode and will hang onto every bit of weight to save up for the famine. It takes a bit for the body to adjust and then you will start to lose again. Later on when a stall occurs take your measurements and you will see you are losing inches even if you are not losing pounds. -
5 months out PICS PICS PICS

I wish they had the delete option for those who made a post and want to remove it. For awhile you could hit edit and erase the info and put in "double post" but now the edit works weird too. You do not have access to the original post just that you can add onto the information. Flygirl congrats on the 70 lbs lost. Lucky they found your autoimmune disorder and now you are receiving treatment. -
Advice Needed & Welcomed
AutumnLily replied to kelsey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you know that the VSG technically has been around for a long time. It is the first proceedure to the duodenal switch (DS). The VSG was performed on morbidly obese patients to reduce their weight to be able to perform the malabsorptive portion of the surgery DS. What they found was that most of the patients lost weight very well with just the sleeve and did not need the DS. Some did need to carry on with the DS. I have found that I used to be a big sugar lover but now post op I find it a bit too much for me. Plus I do not have any hunger so I can avoid the carbs and sugars with ease (this is for me may not be like this for everyone). Your best bet is to ask your doctor why he believes the VSG is better than RNY due to your hernia's. It might shed some light on helping you make your decision. If you are not happy with your progress with the sleeve you can get the second half of the surgery that will have the malabsorption DS. Talk to your doctor about all the possibilities. -

Omeprazole (AKA Losec) is a PPI. You are already on a PPI and it is working so no need to change. -

Some labs test by testing the blood plasma for anti - Tissue Transgluaminase Antibodies that are present for persons who have celiac disease or other diseases. There are other tests but this is one of the primary tests. -
I knew this was going to happen...

Try getting in an electrolyte drink as that may be the problem. Also the suggestion of drinking your Protein on your first break sounds like a great idea. On your drive in to work you drink 16 oz and home is 32 oz. Could you take a warm tea on your morning drive to up your Fluid and the warmth is nice. Warm tea of 8 oz + 16 oz of Water + first coffee Protein Drink 8 oz + 8oz electrolyte drink after lunch +32 oz on way home and 16 oz in the evening. This would up your fluids and could possibly help with the thirst. Is it just plain water that you are taking for all your fluid intake? -
I think they call them "vanity sizes". Where they changed the sizes to read smaller than they actually were from a long time ago.

You are doing nothing wrong. Your body is saying WTF happened and thinks it is in starvation mode. The body is remarkable in knowing if you are starving to hold onto all the weight. You are on the infamous "stall" that most post op'ers have experienced. Keep on what you are doing by getting in your Protein, Water and low carbs and do not forget your Vitamins. Your body will adjust and you WILL start to lose again. Here is a little trick that worked for me (not saying it will work for everyone or you but this is what I did). I increased my good carb intake to 80 gms for 3 days. That was enough to trick my body into saying ok we are not starving and would start to let the weight go. Oh and I increased my water intake to 80 oz for those days to help flush any toxins in my system. Just know that you are doing well with the sleeve and to not panic. If you follow your doctors plan you will lose the weight.

Thinking of Cancelling
AutumnLily replied to b190c550's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone of us had a fear of death, leaks or some other complication that could occur. But if you live your life fearful of things you will never live your life to the fullest. You should make a pros and cons list for surgery and for not having surgery. Hopefully you will be albe to settle your fears and decide if this is truly the right decision for you. Make a decision based on fact and not fear and you will never regret the decision that you make. Keep us posted on your journey which ever direction you choose. -
You could still order the pizza just do not eat the crust. Pick off the toppings for yourself to eat. The rest of the family can eat the crust. It's like eating a burrito only eat the yummy insides and leave the flour tortilla out till you are farther out from surgery. Eventually you will be able include flour based doughs back into your eating plan. It will just be in much smaller quantities. Another idea is getting a spit roasted chicken from the grocery or if there is a restaurant that delivers spit roasted chickens. too bad you do not have a Swiss Chalet they are yummy. Or if you want to make your own pizza try the cauliflower pizza crust recipe that is in the recipe section on here. It is yummmy! Hope this helps.

Pressed my luck and got hit with a whammy!
AutumnLily replied to sychadelic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is a right of passage all of us go through to understand the capacity of our stomachs. It is the worst feeling that makes us reassess how we eat. I now measure my food and eat to satiaty and not full. Just to avoid that horrible feeling. -
Being under 300 is a wonderful feeling. Seeing a 2 at the beginning of the scale just perks you up. Congratulations on your success! Keep up the great work.
