Cheating on day 10 of post op
AutumnLily replied to Laney's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You need to protect your staple line in the beginning. So yes you should be worried about cheating with hard foods like crackers. Stick to the post op diet your doc or nut has provided you with to make sure you do not harm your staple line and end up with a leak. You may need to go for some counselling as to why you are talking yourself back into the foods that will hinder your weightloss. Giving in now will only lead you to not adjusting the behaviours that got you to where you were pre-op. The sleeve is only a tool and if you do not use it correctly you will not benefit from its help. -
12 Days Post-Op and I am FREEZING COLD!!
AutumnLily replied to wannabe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I snuggle up to the heater. In the beginning I wore socks to bed. And some days I have to take a hot shower and crawl into bed to keep my heat. But then again I am in Canada . Things have been looking better as the weather gets warmer but I still think that I will find it cooler than I used to. -
A week from my scheduled date and the office changes my date and surgeon pushes lap band!
AutumnLily replied to christiemon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say several red flags were going off in my head as I was reading your story. I agree with everyone run as fast as you can away from this doctor. This is your life and if he is not confident with performing the surgery you should not be confident in him either. Are there any other doctors in your area that have performed the sleeve? I would look around and see if you can transfer everything to another doctor. You may have to wait a bit but its better than the option you have right now. I get a veryyyy badddd feeling about the doctor you are seeing right now. Find another doc explain your circumstance and see if he can accomodate your original surgery date. You will never know if you do not ask. -
Help... Dumping???
AutumnLily replied to finallyformyself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Several post op sleevers in the past mentioned that peanut butter was the cause of feelin odd racing heart and having to lay down for awhile till it passed. You may want to stay away from peanut butter for a little while. You should always introduce new foods one at a time to see how your body reacts to them this early out. Your body is a little peeved at you so take it slow and introduce one new food per day to gauge how it affects you. If adversly wait a couple of weeks and try again. -
Strange Mexico Question

I think it is polite to tip the driver. It is not expected of you. I did tip both my drivers (one on the way in was covering for the regular driver). -
4 days post op I had no problem getting in my 64oz of fluid a day. My swelling went down fast and that is why. Others the swelling remains for awhile which makes it harder to get the required fluids in. I am up to 96 oz of fluids in a day and I could do more but have been sticking to this amount. Keep up the fluids and remember your liquid proteins also count towards your fluid intake. Your energy will pick up. Keep up the great progress.

So far, I'm underwhelmed...
AutumnLily replied to MegInNOLA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it feels like forever being on the full liquids but soon enough you will be into solids and the liquid phase will be a distant memory. For your tight tummy in the morning can you have hot decaf tea? I found a nice tea in the morning helped my tummy to relax and by my first coffee break I had no problems with other foods. You said you have done fine with mashed potatoes maybe add your cottage cheese to the potatoes and see if your tummy likes that. It would be a slow introduction of new food. Are you taking any Protein supplements? Your lack of energy in the beginning is due to the reduced calorie and also in part by the reduced Water intake. Just remember broths can count as your Fluid intake. Have some warmed chicken broth or what ever you prefer and count it towards your fluids. It will get better! -

I have to say at least she did apologise for her behaviour. Too bad she did it in the first place, but I would run with the apology and hope that she is not so inconsiderate in the future. You know what you are doing and we all understand here. Here is to your continued success!!! -
I am officially REVISED to a SLEEVE!
AutumnLily replied to time-4-change's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hydration is more important in the beginning than Protein. You will be able to nourish your body soon but keep on sip sip sipping and walk walk walking to help get rid of the gas. I stayed on clear fluids for the first 10 days. I had some Protein drinks that were clear (nectar drinks) and chicken broths. The next 10 days I was on full liquids and did well on that. I was happy to see mushies I must say. I had a drain for the first couple of days but my doctor has a drain on every patient. Take your time and if your tummy gives you grief about a new food just stay away from that food for a little while and try it again later. Congratulations on your surgery!!!! -
Everyone has a different post op eating plan set by their doctor. It is best if you follow the plan your doctor has advised you to do.

Driving after surger

I think it depends on what pain medication you are on. And if you have recovered from the anesthetic.I waited a couple of weeks to be on the safe side, because I did not want to be the cause of an accident due to my inability to react. I would ask your doctor as he/she should have an answer for you. -

I find that there are people out there who truly believe they own the rights to other peoples bodies. Your lunch looks great and you are doing what you need to be doing for yourself. I would say thank you for your input to your "friend" and tell her if I want your opinion in the future I will ask for it. Congratulations on the 100lbs lost!!! Keep up the great progress. -
4.09lb per week weight loss

You are doing well with your sleeve! Congratulations on the 45 lbs you have lost so far! You will be at goal in no time. -
Good cholesterol is called HDL (high density lipoproteins) they are called good because they travel around your blood system picking up the extra bad cholesterol LDL (low density lipoproteins) and escorts them back to the liver to be processed. Foods that will raise your HDL and not your LDL are Fish (salmon, tuna, halibut things high in Omega 3 fatty acids) Nuts (almonds walnuts and cashews), Apples, oatmeal, Beans, Olive oil and my favourite Red wine (in moderation). Google, Bing what ever you use check out foods high in HDL. Hope this helps.

Everyone seems to weigh so often.
AutumnLily replied to Griselda's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I weight myself in the morning and in the evening before bed. I only record the weight once a week. As Tiffykins said our weight does fluctuate a bit through out the day. I do not get upset if nothing is moving because I know I am doing everything right and so the weight loss will continue. Everyone needs to find what works for them. Possibly down the line I will weight myself less (but I wouldn't bet on it right now). -
I am mostly under 30 grams but have gone up higher on rare occasions. Nothing that I would do on a permanent basis during the losing phase, but will need to master when I want to stop the loss.

ANYONE ELSE ADDICTED TO .....
AutumnLily replied to TEXAS DIVA's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
The amount of fat in one or two sting cheeses a day should not be frowned upon. I snack on cheese every day to give me a small boost in Protein. Depends on what you are looking for in a snack. Low carbs high protein? Medium carbs medium protein? Pretty much if I want a protein snack it is cheese. If I have lots of extra carbs left over I will have a small 100 calorie carb snack that is less than 20g of carb. Usually closer to 10g of carb but I do not fret as this is not an everyday occurance. -
B ham and cheese omelette L tuna with pickles D Chicken thigh smothered in hot sauce Snacks - cheese Water - working on it Vitamins - all Exercise - walking and stair climbing

ANYONE ELSE ADDICTED TO .....
AutumnLily replied to TEXAS DIVA's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
String cheese, brick cheese, cream cheese, cottage cheese you name the cheese and I love it! But I have rationed myself down to 1-2 pieces of cheese a day. Try to include other healthy snacks and see if you can control the string cheese addiction. -
I had a line of credit that I used and my interest is quite low. My second option was going to be my credit card but the interest is higher so I worked the line of credit first ( there are secure lines of credit that will have low interest and then unsecured lines of credit with a bit higher interest). Check with your local banks (shop around to see who will give you the lowest interest rate) and see if you qualify for one or the other.

I ate a lot today!
AutumnLily replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way when I was able to eat more. I felt like I was gorging on food when in actual fact I was consuming no more than 800 calories in a day. Its funny how what we feel is over eating now and pre op would have been just a snack. Loved the comment "fat makes you plain old nutty" -
I did one thing right
AutumnLily replied to 1-4-Many's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you on the freezing part! Some days I am good and others there is nothing I can do to get warm. This means I will not be uncomfortable this summer. Yahooooooo -
It is not going to be stiff like a pizza. I ate mine with a fork and knife. Have you tried portobello mushroom caps as your base? This would only work if you like mushrooms.

Shapewear can help smooth and make look less lumpy and bumpy. I have heard building muscle can help a bit with the slack skin (filling the empty space with muscle). Give it some time to recover as much as it will and then if you are wanting plastics go for it. For the weightloss you may be in a stall. Have you tried doing the 5 day pouch test to see if it will boost your loss again?
