    Telling your boss

Just say you are having surgery. If you make up a surgery like gall bladder and you do not have it out. Lets say 6 months out you need to have gall bladder surgery you will be pegged as a liar. I would say surgery and he/she asks for what just say its personal.

    Food in England

I am sure the local restaurants and pubs serve up shepards pie, steak, chicken, lots of different kinds of curries and a large variety of foods that are higher in Protein. If you want get some Protein powder single packages (of a kind you like) or get snack size sandwich baggies and measure out one scoop per bag from a tub. Take a shaker bottle with one of those mixers in it and you can get milk when you are there to mix. Or mix with Water if you like it that way. Find a Protein Bar you like and pack them with you for Snacks. Nuts are a good snack that are higher in protein (may also be higher in salt so watch water retention). Wonderful cheese is also a good higher protein snack. Hope these ideas help you.

    still hurting

What is the temperature of your liquids? I found in the beginning that if I started with a warm broth or decaf tea that my stomach relaxed and I was able to take in room temperature water. I stayed away from cold as my tummy did not care for it in the beginning. I have heard some people were able to drink cold water so I would try out different temperatures and see if your tummy is more agreeable to a certain temperature. Your tummy is still trying to adjust. Try to keep on getting in your fluids. I promise it will get better just when is the question.
  5. The rapid weightloss will release Estrogen hormone that is stored in fat cells. Which could be causing her to be an emotional wreck. She may also be having issues with the changes that have happened and will take awhile to adjust. It is good that she has a therapist to see to talk through her emotional problems. She may also be depressed. Was she depressed before the surgery? If it is her hormones it takes a couple of weeks for the body to adjust to the changes. Is she a member of any forums where she can ask others whom have had the surgery. Maybe suggest this site or obesity help boards to come and get answers that she probably has no answer for. Depression should be dealt with by a professional and maybe she needs to make an appointment with her PCP to see what her options are. You are a good friend for worrying. The best you can do is be supportive and hope that she breaks free of the emotional rollercoaster she is on.

    Furry tongue!!!

Not sure what it is but I had it in the beginning. I just made sure I brushed my tongue well. I also heard you can get a tongue scraper to help. Now that I am farther out I do not have that problem as much. Find it gets less when I have more Water. Not sure if there is a correlation to the water or not.

I hope you are feeling better soon and can get more protein in for your energy.
  14. I think everyone has a moment in the beginning of "what have I done" . I have to say it is only a fleeting moment and then it is gone. I do not regret a single moment as I will finally achieve my goal and maintain it. You should be able to eat anything when your tummy is up to it. I would avoid high carb foods in the beginning to maximize your weightloss but later on having a piece of bread here or there should be fine. Same with rice. It all depends on if your tummy will tolerate it. So far my tummy has been fine with foods I put into it. I tried a small spoon of rice last week and it went down fine. I have not tried bread as that is my weakness and I do not want to push my luck. Hope this helps.
  15. Congratulations!!!! Keep on rocking that sleeve.
  16. I started at a higher weight and I have 1 week to go to my 3rd month but so far since my surgery I have lost 50 lbs (I lost 16 lbs on my one week pre op diet which would make that 66 lbs lost total). This is my weight as of last week because I weigh (for recording) myself on Mondays (and that is tomorrow). I have not started exercising yet I was waiting for my 3rd month.

Mixed emotions less than 12 hours to go

The first 3 weeks of liquids can get boring real fast. Just stick to the program and you will be onto mushies and then solids in no time. You will have to be diligent on getting a minimum of 60 grams of Protein a day and having at least 64 oz of water(fluid). I personally have avoided going to restaurants as I want to maximize my losing and I have to be able to know what is in my food. So self prep is best for me. Down the road I will allow myself to go back to restaurants. It is too bad your family feel the need to tease you about your weight. Soon enough you will be losing and they will hopefully be supportive. Just remember the sleeve is a tool and you have to put the right kind of food in to get the best results. Making changes now will help you down the road when you can eat more and feel the urge to eat foods that will cause you to gain weight. You can lose the weight if you use your tool properly. I am almost 3 months out and have not started exercising yet. I was waiting till my 3rd month before I joined a gym, so that my healing is done and I do not have to worry about hurting myself. These are personal choices. You will find what works for you. I am sending all my positive thoughts on a fast and pain free recovery for you. Keep us posted on your journey.
  18. I just checked my unjury unflavored protein and yes it too says 20gms of protein for 1 scoop. Meggie you might want to check your containers again to see what it says.

    Pushing my luck...

I just wanted to add I obsessed about food when I was on liquids. I even dreamt about eating food. Soon as I was on mushies and I felt restriction the wanting and obsessing went away. I also stayed on mushies for a little while longer to give my tummy a little extra healing time. Now that I am on solids I eat my Protein first (more dense the less I can eat) and if I have room its for veggies and some carb/starch but it is rare that I can get to potatoes. Take care of yourself!

    Pale

Hi Kelly You just had major surgery and your body is adjusting. The anesthetic will also take a toll on you. Try to get in your fluids and Protein and you should be looking and feeling better soon. I was pale, light headed in the beginning and I think I started to feel somewhat normal 4 weeks out. I took a lot of naps in the day which helped a lot. Keep note of everything and if you feel you need to contact your doc then do so for your own piece of mind.
  21. I felt the same way when I first booked my surgery. When I finally got to Mexico I almost felt numb but knew that this was what I truly needed. I am here for you if you need any support along the way. Do you have someone going with you or are you doing this alone?
  22. Loved your post Looou! Glad you are starting to feel better and your energy will pick up it just takes awhile as you had major surgery. I am almost 3 months out and can say that I am back to my full energy days and much lighter than when I started so I think that gives me more energy. Keep up the great work! It is so true about the water!

    Pushing my luck...

just an FYI your stomach nerves were cut and you will not have the sensations you are used to for being full. You may not have any sensation for the first month to 6 weeks. That being said you could harm your staple line and cause a leak. Your doctor has recommended a specific amount of time on liquids for your personal well being and to protect the staple line. I beg you to take this as a warning that you need to follow the doctors directions so that you do not end up back in hospital. This is a good time to start practicing patience and following the recommended eating plan. You will still lose weight in the beginning but if you do not enforce these better eating behaviours now you will not be able to enforce them down the road when you can eat more. The sleeve is just a tool and you really need to take care of it and use it wisely to maximise your weight loss. I hope I have made sense to you. Please take the warning as patient non-compliance is a big issue for leading to complications. You can do it! I believe in your inner strength!
  24. I thought I could eat more at one point but then wham something happens and you know you are only able to comfortably eat a small portion. Sometimes I look at the portion and think it is hugh and then I have co-workers (who have no idea I had surgery) say is that all you are eating! Life is adjusting and yes your stomach will tell you when you went too far. Either by pain or everyone out of the pool situation. I am almost 3 months out and it feels like a lifetime ago that I had the surgery.

    EGGS

Are you on the mushy stage as a scrambled egg to me would count as a mushy. I was on clear liquids for 10 days then full liquids for another 10 days. Once I moved onto mushies I was happy to be rid of the fluids only.
