  1. I'm so sorry things are hard right now. Please remember you did just have major surgery. Almost everyone thinks,"What have I done?" That is completely normal. You aren't even 2 weeks out so I know things are still really hard and your are trying to adjust to your new schedule. I am 2 months out and took a long time to feel normal again. And by the way sleep is a good thing it helps your body heal. Just try to remember to sip while you are awake. And realistically I couldn't drink the full amount of liquids til the first month. I too had a lot of emotions to deal with and really relied on my family to constantly reassure me. It can be scary and downright depressing but it does get better, I promise. Please feel free to email me any time.
  2. Great find! I even found a local store that carries it! Thanks!
  3. I am 7 weeks post op and having a lot of frustration with my pills. Pre surgery I could take 5-6 pills at a time. Now I can take 2 pills max. I also have to wait 20-30 minutes between taking pills. I find that if I overdo it and take too many to fast I get sick and start to dry heave and have the foamies. How long will it take before I can take more pills at a time? Also, does anyone else have this problem and get the dry heaves? Aren't they annoying?!

    My Journey Begins

That is quite the story and everyone's worst nightmare to have emergency surgery from complications. You are a trooper and a very good sport. I did have headaches after surgery. Mine were from the carb withdrawal. Sometimes a tiny bit of diluted applejuice can take the edge off. But most people would say that is against the rules. Carb withdrawal is no fun and takes awhile to go away.
  5. Thank you everyone! I am 7 weeks out and would love to be done with these protein drinks. My dr has me on 90 grams of protein which I am thinking is a crazy amount (not to mention unattainable). How much protein is the average patient on?

    My new beginning

Sorry to hear you are having so many negative symptoms. I would call your dr because you have quite a few things going on. It is nice to talk to your dr and check in when there are so many problems early on. Good luck.

    Pre-op surgeon visit.......help

Call back and ask what happens during that time frame ... then you won't have to wonder. During my pre-op visit I filled out paperwork and asked some questions. But it didn't take that long! Good luck.

    My Journey Begins

Any weight you lose before surgery is a good thing. It makes the surgery easier on the dr. Some drs don't even have their patients lose before surgery. I was only on liquids for 24 hours prior to surgery and that was it. How are things going post-op? Is your support group helping?
