    question...

Congrats on the weight loss. After liquids is the soft food phase. I was advised to never eat more than 4 oz at one time. And of course never to eat and drink at the same time. I would stop drinking about 10 minutes before eating and after eating wait 45 minutes until drinking again. During the soft food phase I was eating eggs, lots of popsicles, yogurt, cottage cheese and soup. Sometimes I did have mashed potatoes. Good luck to you!

    Pay it forward

Thanks for sharing. I think it is wonderful of your family to help pay off the loan. And I agree about being kind and friendly to others. It is just the right thing to do.
  3. I will tell you what I personally do. I take 2 Prilosec a day - one in the morning and one at night. (per my dr's orders) It took about 4-5 days of doing this before my horrible heartburn stopped. Remember prilosec is used to prevent heartburn. So if you are already having heartburn you will need something to treat it like Tums or Rolaids. I know how disturbing and painful heartburn can be especially while you are sleeping. Sometimes sleeping a little propped up can help. But I would suggest talking with your doctor as sometimes heartburn can mean other things.
  4. Would love to hear which vanilla protein powders are the best? Thanks!

    Vitalady

Good to hear. I am waiting on my sample order from them. Hope I like it too!
  6. I know how upsetting another surgery could be for you. I am 2 months out and am having trouble with my gallbladder and need surgery. Are you in pain? My pain is to the point where I am finally looking forward to surgery. It is frustrating to think I just recovered from surgery and now need another. But if it is necessary to be healthy then it is worth it. Be brave and sending good thoughts your way.

    2 month surgiversary!

Congrats on your weight loss! You sound like you are really on top of things. I am wondering if you could give me an example of a day with protein? I can't seem to make my protein goal and really hate the shakes too. I too am 2 months out. Thanks!
  8. Fly Girl, I'm sorry to hear about your pain and upcoming surgery. I too am in need of gallbladder surgery. I have felt very nervous and scared. But I am so sick of the pain and having to be super careful with my diet. I will be glad to finally have it out. After surgery you can eat anything! From what I know you just stay overnight. And when you wake up there won't be all of those restrictions that came with sleeve surgery (only drinking small amounts and liquid diet etc.) It will be liberating. I am 9 weeks post-op and because my liver was so enlarged I have to lose a little bit more weight before I can safely have the gallbladder surgery. In fact I was going to have my gallbladder out at the same time as my sleeve but my liver was too enlarged and in the way. Best of luck to you and you will be so much happier. How far out are you from your sleeve?
  9. Cindy-Lynn -Poor you, sure sounds like dumping. Sorry you had to deal with it in public. I guess this is all part of our learning experience.

    Personal NSV

That is amazing! What a victory! I wish I had that kind of engery!
  11. Thanks everyone! I forgot to mention I was drinking lactose free milk. But I did look on the carton and saw 12 grams of sugar per 8 oz plus the sugar in the nesquick. Perhaps I did just drink if too fast. Although I have had watered down applejuice and been fine and that has had high sugar. Southern sleever my experience sounds similar to yours. Would love to hear from anyone else who has dumped!

  13. I am 9 weeks out and feeling tired and weak all day. I was told to start a B12 vitamin. I also think part of the reason is the weight loss itself. My body is working hard to shed the extra weight and that makes me tired. Would love to hear how others deal with daily fatigue at about 2 months.
  14. Yesterday drinking water was almost impossible. My throat felt very tight and whenever I would try and drink a little water it made me feel sick to my stomach. My stomach just felt sloshy all the time, even with no water. Anybody have odd days like that? Today I am drinking much easier.
  15. Hello! I just found this site and love it! I am having a hard time drinking my protein drinks each day. I have tried many but just can't seem to find one I can stand. I am eating solids and do get some protein in that way. But not enough. How many months are we supossed to drink our protein drinks? And does anyone have a super good one to recommend? Thanks!
  16. Nancy, Would you mind telling me what an average day of Protein is like for you? What kind of protein you eat and how many grams? How far out are you? I am having a really hard time eating all my protein and really want to because I hate the drinks so much! Thanks!
  17. Thanks to everyone! I hope in time all of our sipping/gulping issues will get better. It is just plain hard the first 3 months and a big adjustment.
  18. I am a patient of Dr. Cirangle's and was sleeved on July 15, 2011. I am two months out. He has several satellite offices which is really nice and cuts down on the drive to my post-op appointments. He is a brilliant surgeon and I am so glad he did my surgery. If you have any questions please feel free to message me. Have you had your surgery? What was your experience?
  19. Thank you for the comforting words. I am 2 months out and have dealt with the sloshy tummy on and off. I will try the tips! Thanks!
  20. I am 2 months post op and have struggled taking my pills since surgery. I have a couple of things happening. This first is that I can no longer take lots of pills at the same time. I can only take 2 pills at a time and have to space them out about 30 minutes apart before the next set. ( I have about 20+ pills to take a day dealing with other health issues) The second problem is sometimes my pills just overwhelm my stomach and I start to dry heave and even get the foamies. Does anyone else have this struggle? How long after surgery could you take more than 2 pills at a time? Thanks!
  21. Congratulations and thank you for sharing! You sound like a strong and determined person! Best of luck in your continued journey.

    Tired after dinner?

I find myself really tired in the evenings. I am 7 weeks out. I have had to schedule in a short late afternoon/early evening nap just to get through the rest of the night. Remember your body is still recovering and by the time evening rolls around it is easy to be tired from the day's events.

    What do I tell people?

You can always say it was personal and you would rather not talk about it. Say and do whatever you need to take care of yourself and be happy.
  24. My drs top four favorites are cottage cheese, low sugar yogurt (no fruit/seeds), eggs and tofu. I loved refried beans cream of wheat and mashed potatoes (although we are discouraged from these). Soups in the blender are yummy too.
