My story is a lot like that of most of my friends. Im a military spouse and my husband is in the Army. I love my life, but constant moving and worrisome deployments kept adding on the pounds. The first time I PCS'd (moved) I gained almost 80 lbs. I was away from home for the first time, pregnant for the first time, and literally a continent away from anything even resembling a support system. I eventually found my stride and started sucessfully losing the weight I had put on. I lost 45 pounds and was feeling great....and then it was time to move....We moved to Colorado and I was in heaven...I was a pretty active person in high school and college, so I was excited to hit up the hills and get some skiing/ snowboarding in... rock climbing all of that fun Colorado-ey stuff, I gained about 20 lbs on the move, and then got the news that my husband would deploy less than a month after we arrived, and yet again I was thrown for a loop. I gained and lost 20-30 pounds at a time, but ALWAYS gained it back because I would trip up just the tiniest bit and end up saying F- it. Three years later, I became pregnant with my second child, and my husband deployed again. I actually lost weight while pregnant, I had my baby boy...I lost 25 lbs within the first 4 months after I gave birth, (just in time for R&R) I looked and felt great, I was still a thick girl, hovering somewhere around 14-16, but I was happy. We PCS'd in 2007 to Missouri, and I gained back almost 65 lbs in the course of 2 years... maybe less...I never had any sucess at losing weight in Missouri, Im pretty sure because my best friend made some AMAZING food (almost all of it had bacon somewhere on the ingredient list, lol) When we PCS'd to New York I gained my usual 20lbs, and then my husband deployed yet again, I don't do well with stress and that deployment did me in, I was eating systematically for comfort, for pain relief. I talked to my doctor about anti anxiety meds, and once I started feeling a little less anxiety I decided it was time to fix the weight situation too. I started a hardcore workout and eating plan, and was sticking with it...and not losing a bit of weight....I got pnuemonia that winter and was unable to work out for like a month... after that month of completely going off the gym 5+ days a week and killin myself trying to at least eat the healthy stuff...I didn't gain a bit of weight...I had a breakdown. What was the point of spending 10 hours a week at the gym in classes and on treadmills, what was the point in choosing a salad over a delicious piece of pizza when it really didnt even matter? Thats the attitude I had until that spring when my husband came home, by that time I had gained about 15 lbs...but by that point I had stopped weighing myself. A couple weeks before my husband got back I finally worked up the nerve to talk to my doctor about my weight, he reffered me to Dr. Cooper, and I got started on my weight loss journey...
