March Role Call!!
DazyKrazie replied to VSGandMe2011 (DisneyMomma)'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was March 14. I am doing pretty good physically in every way. It is the mental stuff that has been difficult for me. I am down 30 lbs. as of today. I was at a stall for awhile, so yesterday, I tried to up my eating. I had a cheese omelet in the morning, then a protein shake, then grits in the afternoon and another cheese omelet at night with tons of water. This morning when I woke up, I broke my stall and have lost 30 lbs. Pretty excited. I ate more than ever and that is what made the scale move. Weird! Monday I went to Disneyland for the entire day. That was okay, no problem really. They have toddler meals and I ordered that. It came with applesauce and milk and that was all I needed. I was exhausted all day yesterday. The drinking is so much easier. I can take pretty big double gulps. This morning I ate all but a couple of bites of my omelet. The first time I had one, I could only have a couple of bites before I was done. I am starting to do a bit better mentally. I never gave that part of it much thought. I just figured I knew and I could deal with it no problem. It is a different story when you are living it. I have gone through major feelings of buyer's remorse. I am kinda mourning some of my favorite meals and eating with my family like I used to. Now that I am able to eat and drink easier, I am starting to feel better. Monday I go back to work. I hope I am ready for my 25 kinders!! They are exhausting on my best day! I am 9 lbs. away from Onederland!! That has me so excited I can't even believe it!! It was college since I have been there. I am 40 years old! I figure when I put away my winter clothes, I will pack them up for good. There is no going back and I know by next winter I will not be able to wear them! How EXCITING!!! Good luck everyone. I would love to hear how all the other March Sleevers are doing! -
Today was kind of a bad day
DazyKrazie replied to samantha209's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am living through this very topic right now. Tomorrow I will be 14 days out. On Friday night, my family decided to go to Olive Garden, so I could join them and have some Minestrone soup. (Broth only) My husband said that to support me, he would just order salad. I told him he didn't have surgery, he could get what he wanted, but sure enough, he ordered only salad. My FIL ordered fettucini alfredo with chicken. My MIL ordered ravioli in alfredo sauce, my child ordered spaghetti, my BIL ordered pizza, My SIL ordered coke and soups and salad and ate a ton of breadsticks. I sat there at one of my favorite restaurants ever trying to sip my soup. While sipping, it kept bubbling up and all these bubbles were in my stomach and throat. I couldn't even finish half of it. They placed the breadsticks right in front of my face and I just smiled my way through the meal. Then my husband started eating a slice of pizza and some of his dad's fettucini, which he should if he wants. We walked out of the restaurant and my husband said, well that was okay, right? I immediately broke into tears and told him that was pure mental torture. I can't tell you how hard it was. This is just the beginning for me, but being at one of my favorite restaurants and not knowing if I can ever eat there again, and I am sure I could never eat a breadstick again, really messed with me mentally. I was having total buyer's remorse! I have to say, I am really struggling through this process. I think it is just because I am mourning my favorite foods and the fact that my husband and I often went out to eat and I miss that. I also am in a place where I feel like my little tummy will never be able to handle more food ever again. I know according to all of you that, it will change, but it's like when you are pregnant and feeling sick and it feels like you will be that way forever. lol I am 27 lbs. down, so I have to focus on that! -
I teach Kinder. I go back after next week. My second day back is a walking field trip to a farm!! I was like SERIOUSLY?! Field trips drain me when I am feeling my best. I can't even imagine taking my 25 Kinders to the farm and we have to walk there and back. Ay yi yi! Then the 3rd day back is our Kinder articulation meeting. We always take a nice long lunch that day. Wow! Welcome back for me. I can't even eat solids yet. Hopefully we will go somewhere, that I can order soup. I am pretty nervous about it. Most of the staff has no idea I did this. Only my few closest friends at work. I should be down 30 lbs since I was last at work. I am wondering if anyone will notice. I still don't notice!

The first few weeks SUCK!
DazyKrazie replied to sasicas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2.5 weeks out and filled with regret. I know that this is temporary! It HAS to be! I guess I am just thinking about how huge going out to dinner has been the center of all and everything social for my family and now, I will never be able to really be a part of that again. It is so weird. I went to see my doc after one week and he put me on mushies. I didn't feel ready, because everyone on here is on full liquids much longer than I had to be. I definitely don't want a leak. I waited a couple of days and have just started mushies. A couple of bites of anything and I am done. I don't want to live my life on a couple of bites. Also, can anyone tell me....will I have to sip for the rest of my life, or will I ever be able to drink major gulps at a time. I am so thirsty and sipping isn't cutting it. I have one more full week off and go back to work the beginning of April. I hope my energy will be up for the little Kindergartners. They take so much energy to teach! This has been a struggle and I have to say, it really has all just been in my head. Physically, this has been easy. Hopefully one day, I am going to tell future sleevers my story and that it DOES GET BETTER!! -

DazyKrazie replied to justdance's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery one week ago. Right before I was leaving my house to leave, I went to the bathroom one more time and SURPRISE, there was my period! I was like in shock! No PMS, no warning, nothing. I just went with it. It is gross for sure. Got the paper panties and used my own pads. They measure your pee every time you go and they never empty it. Then my roommate would always go after me and there was my bloody urine. It was gross, but nothing horrible. Just go with it! -
Hi all, I had my 1 week post op visit today and my Doctor said, "let's go ahead and start you on mushies!" I am SHOCKED! I don't feel ready. I told him that when I drink my chest gets tight. He said that is perfectly normal and will go away, maybe in 6 weeks or less. He said our stomach is actually much higher up than most people think and it is still feeling the trauma. This is the thing, it seems like mushies after only 1 week post op is sooner than I would have thought. Is this normal for everyone else? All these surgeons all have such different guidelines. I think I am just going to give myself a few more days of full liquids and then start mushies. THe good news is, I lost 10 lbs. since the surgery and I am down 22 lbs. TOTAL!!! ALso, for a NSV my wedding ring fell right off my finger! Crazy! Does anyone else have or had tight chest issues for awhile? Good luck to all! Tracy

5 weeks out -22 lbs. But ugh...
DazyKrazie replied to vickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a tight feeling in my chest all the time. Truthfully, that is what bothers me the most in all of this. Whenever I take a drink, that tight feeling in my chest comes. I see the doc tomorrow. Never even heard of this issue on the boards, so kinda wondering why that is. Does this eventually go away, or do some of us get this? -

Getting Worse Instead of Better?
DazyKrazie replied to wtBgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! I am sorry you are going through that. Sometimes I also think my stomach is too small. It sometimes feels weird to drink, like in my chest, not my belly. I can't even imagine being on mushies as soon as you are. Good luck and I hope it gets better real soon! -
What does NSV mean? I thought I knew, but when I saw how it was used in the sentence, I know I don't. Thanks! Congrats on the jeans! I am just excited my ring fell off yesterday after 5 days post op! lol I love hearing people say they love their sleeve. I am in the "what have I done to myself" stage!
-
Hi! I was just checking up on you to see how you are doing. I was sleeved the day before you. I hope you are doing good. Would love to hear how your recovery is going.

I feel like I am having BIG regrets after surgery too!! I can't stop thinking about what an extreme measure I took and did I need to take it this far!? Let me just say, I am not even a week out. I had it on Monday and this is Friday night, but I am just anxious to get through these liquid stages and mushies and feeling normal eating real food. I know I will get over this. I am just freaking out a teeny tiny bit! No going back now, so time to work the sleeve! -
liquid diet help.....
DazyKrazie replied to italianmama41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love reading this thread. We all seem to be in about the same phases. My surgery was Monday 3/14, and I am on full liquids. I haven't had a protein shake yet. I think today I will give it a try. I mostly drink skim milk, diluted grape/apple juice and last night I opened a can of chicken tortilla soup. I strained it and ate the broth! It was sooooo GOOD and I loved the warm feeling in my new tummy. It even helped with some gas pains I was having at the time. My doctor told me that the first week, to take a one ounce sip every 15 mins. He said that I didn't have to worry about getting my protein in or vitamins in. He said that we have enough vitamins stored to get us through this first week. My only concern is to not get dehydrated. I still have moments of thinking "what have I done to myself"?!" I know this will pass as soon as I get through this first stage. My cousin had the sleeve over a year ago and LOVES it and she looks awesome!! From what I read on here, nobody seems to have any regrets!! -

I am on the LOSERS BENCH!! Woo Hoo!! I came home today. I was off pain meds the morning after surgery. I threw up a few times. The first time was after the Upper GI. Another time, I took sips but a bunch real quick. No time between them. Glad to be home, just trying to get rid of these miserable gas pains. How long does this last?? Dana, I love your You Tube videos! I have been following faithfully. It is nice since I am a week behind you and you kinda show me what is coming next! Good luck to everyone!! -

This is a great post! Thanks for starting it. Tomorrow is my surgery and last week I was 239, but I think with the pre-op I have lost 10 lbs. I will know for sure tomorrow. I love that at 8 weeks out, I will probably be in Onederland, according to many of the people from this post! Cool! -
