I am trying to avoid getting into the habit of taking any sort of chemical laxative. I've been taking psyllium husk capsules for a couple of weeks (anywhere between 3-6 per day) and they don't seem to be helping much. I just went for more than a week without going AT ALL! This can't be good for me. I know this happens sometimes. What do others do to try to stay more regular?

Large amt of wl needed

I'm 5'11" and was 367 pounds when I started the preop liquid diet in April. The day of my surgery, May 20, I was down to 339. As of today, I am down about 86 pounds,. There is most definitely a light at the end of the tunnel. I still have over 100 pounds to lose, but getting 86 off has made a world of difference. I look so much better already. I'm buying smaller sizes and looking better in clothes. My stamina for exercise is much higher. In fact, I just finished a week at Biggest Loser Resort Fitness Ridge in Utah where we hiked 2-3 hours per day and worked out 3-4 hours a day on top of that. It's not something I ever thought I could do and I certainly could not have done it 86 pounds ago. My only regret regarding this surgery is not having done it sooner. THis is just the beginning for me. Things are looking up! -

I was sleeved by Dr Kim on 5/20. Everything went great. He's one of the best. I think it's normal to have a certain amount of apprehension when you are getting ready to have surgery. But you really are in the best of hands. Good luck to you! -
How Easy Is It to Stretch The Sleeve?
hotterndonutgrease posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 3.5 weeks out from surgery and am in the "soft food" stage. Tonight for dinner I had a piece of grilled fish. It was really big though. Probably 7-8 ounces. How is it possible I was able to eat this? I thought our sleeves were approximately 4 ounces. I am scared my sleeve is stretched already. Is this even possible? I have lost around 45 pounds so far, about 17 of that since surgery. The rest was on my 4 week liquid Protein diet. -

Yes, I felt uncomfortably full after eating that. I didn't quite finish the whole thing because I was uncomfortable. I do feel restriction eating other thing. For Breakfast I had a half a cup of cottage cheese and then tried to have a little applesauce with it. Got one bite down and that was one bite too many. I find myself doing that a lot....eating one bite too many. Need to work on that. -

Can you tell me more about the "Center of Excellence" issue? I got my surgery date with Dr Kim but was told my insurance required a Center of Excellence and that I would have to do my surgery in Decatur. Decatur??? I didn't know Dr Kim did surgery in Decatur. Did I get shuffled to another surgeon without my knowing it??? -
Insurance approval received - Dr Kim
hotterndonutgrease posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, new to the boards. Been lurking some. Got my insurance approval last week and am now waiting for Dr Kim's scheduler to call me to get things rolling. I have a sleep study scheduled for 4/8 but that's it so far. Currently I'm at about 367 pounds and am 5'11". I am 41 years old. Ideally I'd like to lose around 200 pounds. My story is the same as alot of you. I've always struggled with weight, have had some success in the past with diet and exercise, but always end up regaining everything and then some. I always thought I'd be one of the 5% who take it off and keep it off forever. It's only taken me 20 years to realize that I'm not one of the 5% and it's time to take a different road. I am nervous and excited about the journey before me.
