Was required to drink the Mag Citrate. OMG - it was horrible. I'm happy I planned on staying home all day, because if I was out somewhere when I had an 'episode' - i would have been in trouble! Well - the janitor cleaning up after me would have been in trouble for sure!

Intubation (ET tube) is the standard with almost every surgery where you are knocked out. The only complication that I know is a sore throat afterwards.

  4. I am officially a bandster! Doc said surgery went perfect. Looks like I'll be headed home in about 2 hours Pain isn't to bad at all... No pain from the incisions. Just the expected gas pains making their way up from my tummy towards my shoulders

I'm a paramedic, so I understand your nerves with the intubation - I have the same feeling about being tubed. I'm gonna press for my anesthesiologist to use a LMA on me instead of an ET tube... I'm gonna be uncomfortable enough after surgery, let's skip the sore throat please!

    well tomorrows the day!!

Best of luck to ya tomorrow... My surgery is set for 9:00 tomorrow morning!
  10. I thought about going crazy on my last day before the pre-op diet... but decided that I was in this to change my life forever... So, my 'last supper' was a salad with a chicken breast. Why not start the life change now? Why wait until the doc says you have to? Yeah, yeah... I know... It's easier said than done. But if you can do it starting today, why not give it a shot?
  11. Hello everyone!! I'm getting banded by Dr Guske from the Kane Center tomorrow morning @ St Alexis Medical Center & I can't wait to change my life forever!!!! The Kane Center is a Center of Excellence (or whatever it's called). My doc is amazing, spending more time with me than I could have imagined, answering questions & going above & beyond. 18 hours & counting!

Getting banded in 5 days... Had my final pre-op with my surgeon earlier this afternoon. I can't wait for surgery & to begin my 'new life'. I have been drinking the Bariatric Advantage meal replacement shakes - not to bad... a little chalky, but not to bad at all.... Adding a tablespoon of peanut butter to the chocolate shakes (in the blender) adds a nice flavor!
