I dont know about not having surgery but yes take it with you. You will need it to sleep there. You will have specific individualized settings. Unless you know those the hospital wont know what settings to put one of their machines onn. You can call and maybe speak with an admissions nurse just to verify. Most folks with sleep apnea never think they have a problem but it is pretty serious if goes untreated. Remember you are stopping breathing! But hopefully with surgery you can lose the weight and not need it!

September Bandsters
RedDirtRN replied to winifred76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 3 of my preop. 2 protein drinks a day (200 cal or less, 20+of protein, and 10 or less of carb) and then 1 meal of soup. All the sugar free jello and sugar free pudding and fat free cottage chese i want. I have a head ache and am a bit of a B**** right now. I get very hungry by the end of the day. But i am already seeing some pounds come off so that is good. This is definately a test of the will power! My garage is spotless and the rest of the house is getting pretty clean too. Guess thats not such a bad side effect of all this! Oh and I might add I am still trying to figure out how to choke these drinks down! Today I have had the Isopure... Fruit punch- GAG a maggot!! I have to chase them with water or a gatorade. I get real full on liquid thats for sure! Come on Sept 22!!! -

I sooo agree with this. It is one time that I am thankful to be single! My pantry and refrigerator have been transformed! I am also "eating" my one meal a day while at work. No one knows I am getting banded except one person. So I just order my Soup at where ever we decide to eat. No one has seemed to notice so far! But having control over my enviroment has helped a lot! -

So I obviously didnt read my docs pre op diet instructions all the way! He wants 2 protein drinks a day and 3rd meal is soup. Then there is a small list of drinks and jello etc that I can have. So I bought a few differnt drinks to try out and see what I liked. I bought Boost, Slim Fast, and Ensure. So at the bottom of the page it said that the drinks need to be 200 cal or less, 20 of Protein and less than 10 caRbs... None of my drinks fit that description. Anyone got one out there that falls into that catagory???? Thanks! -
Does your doc ask his male patients to get their prostate checked?? I can see with a history of something getting a clearence from that doctor but to just have someone get one because... Makes no sense to me!

Me too! It will be here before we know it! Just the results people get on the pre-op diet are exciting. I went to the grocery store today and bought for my pre-op diet. I am also getting plication. Are you? So excited! -
So waxing does for sure help (vs shaving... All natural will solve it but...) Also we have patients who are prone to boils (diabetics, etc) us bacitracin every day.... By taking a small amount every night and putting it in your nose... Crazy I know! But it is absorbed through the mucus membrane. It helps with staph an MRSA related ones as well. And most of them are staph related because it is on our skin naturally. Many of us carry MRSA and never know it. So wax, use bacitracin, and keep the area dry! Hope that helps!

I do not have an over night stay. Still an out pt procedure. I should clarify my last post... He said 15-20% more weight is lost with plication. I am nervous too! But I am hearing lots of good things! -

New Lap Band plus Plication surgery
RedDirtRN replied to JanPuppyLover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor in Fort Worth Texas is doing mine with Plication as well. I am paying out of pocket for my surgery so it only added $500. The stats on the overall results impressed me. He said you loose an average of 15-20 more. I am scheduled for Sept 22.
