WingRider replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WOW BOB!!! That is awesome, from August 3rd to now you have lost 87 pounds. That is pretty close to a pound a day. Keep up the good work, I can't wait until 12/29/09 when I can finally get underway full steam ahead. I just hope that my results mimic yours. Bill -
Some precautions for post-op scuba diving...learned the hard way!
WingRider commented on learned2bskinny's blog entry in Ready...Set...Go!
The fish like it though. LOL. I dive as well. San Carlos is beautiful, I was only a snorkler when I was there though. Congrats on the weight loss. Keep that regulator clear. -

I'm Baaack from Mexico, OLE!
WingRider replied to carolyn24seven's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was the hotel an option they offered you once you were there, or did you know about it before hand? Did it cost extra? Reason I ask, my Dad is going with me. I want to go alone, but the family has unified against me and the only way they are supporting Mexico is if Dad goes with me. I feel really bad for him, I am afraid he is going to be uncomfortable or bored. It sounds like the hotel would be better for him and okay for me. Let me know Bill -
Maybe we could catch that monkey and eat him!!! Damn monkeys are fast though. You catch mine, I'll catch yours. I will take mine chicken fried with cream gravy...dammit, another monkey just showed up. Bill
-
I am glad I am not the only one who is eating. I am consumed with thoughts about food, but I am making some good choices now. I have cut all but my late afternoon Diet Coke, switched to green tea or Water for the rest of the day. Some coffee every once in a while. Food though, man I am eating too much all of the time. It is weird. I have to get this monkey off of my back. Bill

Milk with your coffee!!! You crazy Aussies with your backward flushing toilets, Christmas in the middle of Summer, and that Platypus thing you got running around. Where do you guys come up with these crazy things? LOL. Just kidding. I have always used cream or artificial cream, milk just seems to weak to do the job. I am sure we probably used milk without hesitation until some company started marketing creamer. Now the rest is history. Bill

New from British Columbia
WingRider replied to Angela77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, 4 years to wait. That is incredible and we have people in Washington thinking we should emulate parts of the Canadian healthcare system. What if you wanted to self-pay? Is that allowed in the Canadian system or would you have to come to the US or Mexico? I am happy for you, your wait is almost over. Good luck with everything. Bill -
Did anybody watch Jim & Pam's wedding on The Office last nite?
WingRider replied to Bob_350lbs's topic in The Lounge
It was hilarious. Helen, I have tried three times to watch the UK version. I can't understand what they are saying. The thick accent combined with the local sayings, I am just lost. Too bad, since it gave way to our version I am sure it is pretty funny. Bill -
I love your use of Emoticons. I don't think I have ever seen so many in on single post. Glad you are moving forward with your VSG. I am jealous, I have to wait until 12/29/09. Bill

Hello, I am scheduled for 12/29/09 with Dr. Almanza. It will be here before we know it. I am practicing chew, chew, chewing. Hopefully I will remember how to chew after so many weeks of being on liquids and mushies. Speaking of mushies, that is the one thing I am dreading. I like mushie food that is supposed to be mushie, like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurt; but I can't see eating pureed food. Does that make sense? I am also catching myself looking at the Protein info on the nutrition labels. In the past I was mostly interested carbs, fat, calories, etc. Also have stopped buying clothes. I need a couple of pair of pants, but I refuse to buy pants that I won't be able to wear in less than 4 months. Just have to take care of the three that I have and send them to the cleaners a lot. LOL. Great idea for the December sleevers thread. It really makes it feel like it so close. Bill

Obstructed by a "bezoar", has anyone else heard of this?
WingRider replied to Vampyrvet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Natalie said, ""Chewing on or eating hair or fuzzy materials (or indigestible materials such as plastic bags) can lead to the formation of a bezoar. The rate is very low and the risk is greater among mentally retarded or emotionally disturbed children." I guess the 2nd sentence is an accurate statement, in reference to me! Natalie You made me laugh out loud at work with your comment. Thanks I have needed a good laugh all day. Bill Hope your bezoar works itself out. -
Rick,25 Years Old 300lb Being Sleeved 10-19-09!!
WingRider replied to bigricknomore's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats Rick and Rick's wife. I am so jealous of you. I have to wait until 12/29/09 before I get my sleeve from Dr Almanza. Please do your video journal. I think would not only help the one's who follow it, but it also be helpful to ya'll. Bill -
Vegas gets my satire. I was being silly. Bill

It's better with cheese melted on it and then a big ol' squirt of BBQ sauce on top of that on a bed of french fries. LOL. Just kidding, that does sound really good and 3 oz Tilapia filets are easy to find at the grocery store for cheap usually. Bill

Have you ever had a sleep study? I just completed my second night of testing where I got to wear the CPAP machine to help me breathe. I didn't get but 5 hours of sleep(in a lab with wires attached to me everywhere and a hose attached to my face for the first time) but the quality of sleep was great. Today was the first day in years that I did not have to take a short 30 minute nap about 4:00. I get my machine for home next week, and while I dread wearing it, I hope that it will give me the improved quality of life while I am awake to be worthwhile. I have felt fatigue for years, even with 8 hours of sleep every night. What I didn't know was that I was waking up between 300 and 350 times a night and never got a full nights sleep. I don't know if this is your case, but sleep deprivation is going to cause fatigue, irritability, weight gain, hormone imbalance, heart disease, and more. I am not an expert, just on my second day of learning about it, but my experience today is making me a little more hopeful. Bill

Has Dr. Alvarez had any VSG Leaks?
WingRider replied to ChroniclesofaFATGIRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too...Wheeeee...Not really, but I want to look good for the skinny bitches. Bill -
don't make this mistake
WingRider replied to Bob_350lbs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It tastes good, therefore they don't have it in the UK. LOL. Just kidding around with the common acceptance that the food in the UK leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe they call it granola. Bill -
20 pounds in 2 weeks, but I'm miserable....
WingRider replied to ADNK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought any clot was bad because at anytime it can break loose and go either to your heart or brain. Either one is not good. I am not a Doctor so don't take me as an authority, but I am pretty sure this is serious. Bill -
a little bummed out
WingRider replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand your concern, I have been selective about who I tell as well. However, they are just concerned about your well being and they probably do not know much about WLS. I was really worried about telling my Mom, but I went armed with the brochures and things I printed out on the web about VSG and educated her. That did two things, it showed her I had done my homework and it showed how determined I am. An hour later, we went back to doing what we were doing and she is at peace with my decision. I also bet you some of your friends are probably going to be jealous because you are stepping up and taking control of your life. Good luck, BTW, this is my first post. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and your post got me off my hands and typing. Thanks. Bill
