Trevebyn replied to lisaholland73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Name, real or screen~ Trevebyn Goal weight for March 31st~ 105 kg Weight on March 1st~ 110 kg Age~ almost 50 Dietary goal for March~ 3 portions of fruit or veg a day Exercise goal for March~ walk the dog to the church every day Personal goal for March~ able to walk to the end of the road, and back! Date banded~ march 2011 Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet~ 5 kg What is your good luck charm? Don't have one -

Thank God. I had decided I was a total failure as I am exactly the same. vomiting in a morning if I try to eat and total lack of control in the evening. I have 8ml in the band but no follow up until November and it is freaking me out. I am terrified that I will put weight back on but still put the sugary rubbish in my mouth! I really had hoped that the band would help with this but it doesn't seem to have so far. -
Good luck ms lady. You have everyones best wishes and especially mine. I find out on Tuesday if my port has flipped or just that the doc can't access it. I am really really hoping they can manage to get something in as I still haven't had any fill and haven't lost for over a month.

Finally got a date for flouro on the 22nd. I rang docs on wednesday to discover I should have had an appointment previous day! Somehow letter never arrived! Very suspect as our mail man is good and very reliable. Now I am beginning to stress about how much it might hurt. The last 2 attempts were so unpleasant:(.

Just wondered as mine feels like it moves. Good luck with the op. I believe it is nothing like the original.
-
Good luck and don't let it mess with your head. Does your port feel any different? I only ask as I am still waiting for the x rays to find out if mine has flipped. Unfortunately I don't even have a date even though doc requested it 4 weeks ago. The joys of our nhs:(

Ms lady. Carry on ranting if it helps. 1 bad day won't make a huge difference over the year. It's what we do for the other 300 plus days! It took us a lifetime to gain the weight and it's going to take lots of months to lose it. Just keep drinking and exercising and it will come off in it's own time but remember this is your journey and a time when you should be selfish and look after yourself regardless of how much your son needs you. One of the things we all have to face is who will look after our special children after we are gone as it will happen one day regardless of what we weigh. Good luck with the fill!

Gg you are right. Food has ALWAYS been my escape route when life has become rough. I have to find an alternative other than the chocolate/sugar rush. For the past year it has Bern playing my trumpet but when the band was fitted they found a hernia so I am only just beginning to play again and 10 mins is about the maximum at present. As for the docs and lidnocaine I will certainly have a good try with this new one. Hopefully he will be more obliging as I really do hate being a pin cushion. Lol

Thanks. GG. Have had a stressful week and it just got to me yesterday. I know what I have to do but just the old habits seem to have come back with a vengeance. Part of it is because I am scared stiff about having to have another op. Never mind the thought of having to go through the agony of them trying to find the access. Unfortunately my hosp does not believe in using lidnocaine at all

Hi I still haven't had a fill despite 3 attempts they can't find the entry point. I have to wait until a different doc comes back from holiday before they will X-ray to see if the port has flipped and if I can finally get a fill. This week has been hell as I am hungry and have been on a sugar binge. I am now really down and wishing I had never had the band fitted. At least I was losing very slowly but now I haven't lost anything for the last 5 weeks and have even started to gain again.

Help first fill failed!

Thanks for the replies. I see the surgeon on Tuesday so hope it will be ok. I am in the uk and we don't have centres of excellence, especially on the nhs. I just hope they can do flouro there and then. -
Banded aug 18th and went for first fill today but nurse couldn't find opening in the port despite repeated tries and 2 different needles! Got an appointment to see the surgeon on tues but I have no idea what might have gone wrong. Anybody had a similar experience?

Hi any brass players out there? Especially anyone who has has hiatus hernia repair at the same time. How soon were you allowed to play? My surgeon seems rather vague and just says when I feel like it!! He obviously has no idea of how much pressure is required to play a trumpet.
