I have been doing the insurance wait for 7 months.  Once I was approved I scheduled my surgery for 2 weeks later.  I did not really lose any wait on the pre-op diet.  I started at 229 and I was 219.6 when I had the surgery this past Thursday, August 25, 2011.
I went in on Thursday at 5:30 a.m. and they took me back to a room right away.  My family was allowed to come with me.  I was given two IV's.  The first one the nurse asked if I wanted to get a numbing shot first, and my husband convinced me not to.  I felt like the nurse was jabbing me with the needle, and it was very uncomfortable, so when I was told I needed another IV for the other arm I asked for the numbing shot.  It was totally worth it.  My surgery was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and they took me back around 7:45.  Once I got to this room they said nighty night and I woke up in recovery.  I was told my surgery started 30 minutes late because one of the cameras weren't working.  Not that I noticed.
I am on day 3 and finding this forum very helpful at answering questions, and I figured it was about time I joined.
