Had my second fill yesterday morning. My fills have been difficult: they have a hard time finding the port and then are unsure if they are in the right spot because they can't get good fluid return. So they poke and prod for awhile. She did find it, filled it and had to take some out because I couldn't swallow water. After that everything felt fine. I have no problems with liquids. I jumped on the treadmill last night for a slow pace walk...2.5...and had lower right sided pain, like a stitch in my side. It's well below my port site. I stopped walking and still had pain. This morning I was fine when I woke up, but now that I'm walking more at work, I have pain. My guess is the poking around jacked up my muscle and I'm having pain from that, but would love to know if anybody else has experienced this.

Wear scrubs at work, and have been wearing a 3x for a crazy amount of time. I've been downsizing the top to 2x for about a month. Decided this morning to give the 2x bottoms a try since I'm constantly pulling up the bigger ones. They FIT! Not tight, either. The scale isn't changing much, but my clothes definitely fit better

Went in for a 7 week checkup and asked for a fill since I have no restriction and snacking a lot in-between. He was happy to oblige. He had a very hard time finding my port. The NP came in to help after a lot of tries and she thought she found it and put in 4cc. They sat me up and I drank water with no problem. He decided to put in another cc, pulled back to measure all the fluid and didn't get it all back. Again I swallowed water with no problem. I'm really not positive they found the right spot. I guess I'll find out in 4 weeks when I go for another fill.

I am 5 weeks out from surgery, completely unfilled and no fill for another two weeks. I can easily eat 1 1/2 cups of food at a meal and Snacks in between. I have maintained my weight the past 4 weeks. I am trying to wrap my head around what proper restriction feels like. I assumed the "green zone" would have me eating up to 1 cup per meal and satisfy me for 4-5 hours. But I see people all the time on here saying the hit the zone and are eating six bites and they are full. How are six bites helping you reach your Protein requirements? I don't want to rely on supplements for my nutrition. I want to be able to eat a healthy diet that is satisfying. Is six dime-sized bites really what I'm trying to achieve with fills? Confused.

..was today. One year ago I went out with my hubby to celebrate the 34th and ended up having the worst gallbladder attack ever. That introduced me to my surgeon who just happened to do bariatric surgery. One thing led to another and I was banded on 6/21/12. I am 31 pounds LESS than I was one year ago. I am so grateful for this opportunity to have a healthier, happier life. I am looking forward to a fabulous year!!!

I would love to do some ab workouts but I am so uncomfortable lying on the ground. It's like a stinging sensation wherever there is a bony prominence, even though it layered with fat. Any suggestions to make it more comfortable or other exercises I can do for an ab workout?

I would say "stuck" but that has a certain meaning in this group. I ate breakfast this morning, cheese omlette with tiny green peppers and tomatoes and bacon. Everything went down fine...I don't feel "stuck". I'm in no distress, I can drink fluids fine. I just have this very scratchy, almost like something is stuck in the side of my throat on the right. Now that I mention it, I wonder if the bacon actually did it on the way down. Do you get this feeling a lot? Is it associated with anything? Or am I stuck and I'm just in denial?

I prefer 5 hour energy. It does contain caffeine, but it never makes me feel jittery and has never made me crash.

Confused About Proper Restriction Level
indyhandmade replied to indyhandmade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you! I was beginning to think I was crazy and not coming to terms with how little I need to eat. I never thought about people who are intentionally pushing their restriction to the edge to achieve faster results. I'm fine with slow....but it has to be steady. -
Sooo....I did that ab workout on the ball Tuesday. I am STILL sore! I've never done crunches and felt sore on the very top of the six pack! Ouchie!! My body was NOT READY for that ball, innocent as it may look

I have the Mirena IUD, so my periods have been virtually nonexistent since the beginning of the year. I always gain 3-4 pounds around that time when it should start. I am also ravenous a few days before. Interesting note: about a week after surgery, I actually had a REAL period. My body knew something was up.

I bought a ball today, but I bought the small one thinking one inch (says for 5'3" and under) wouldn't make a difference. Well...I guess my big butt does because it is way too small. I did do some crunches and oblique moves on it. Also did some push ups and leg lifts. Taking it back tomorrow and getting a proper size ball. Felt GREAT on my back, though!

Oh how I long for a moment of peace away from my little boys!

I used to have a ball when I was pregnant. I'd sit on that thing all the time. Too bad I got rid of it. It was always in the way.

Protein Shakes Enough For A Breakfast Meal?
indyhandmade replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I usually eat eggs in the morning for my protein, and I LOVE eggs. I just noticed on MFP that my cholesterol is through the roof! I need to use protein shakes in the AM to boost my protein without all the cholesterol. -
High Protein/low Fat Foods...

When you use parchment, how do you know when the fish is done? -
I have a coupon for Gardien, but I can't find it. I regularly eat veggie burgers and enjoy morningstar. I don't have a fill but they are very easy going down. I like their Prime griller the best. The only thing I don't like is they are supported by and use Monsanto soy.

I've experienced two dizzy spells within the past week. Once sitting in front of the computer at work and the second while driving to pick up my kids. Each lasted for about 10 seconds and caught me totally off guard. I attributed it to maybe not drinking enough, but I'm not that behind on fluid. I for sure get 48 oz in a day, more than I ever got before the band.

When Did They Notice?
indyhandmade replied to texas-bandette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The peeps at work say they can see it, in my face and the way my scrubs are loose. I just bought a 2x dress from old navy and it fit great! Normally a 3x, so I am pleased. My clothes are fitting looser. I've lost 29 total. -
Had my 2nd post op appointment with the surgeon (and possible fill) scheduled for today - 4 weeks. They called yesterday and had to reschedule. Due to conflicts, I won't see him until Aug 8th - three more weeks!! At first, I was really bummed and worried about possible weight gain w/o that fill. Then I decided this is the perfect opportunity to get my head in the right place. Focus on my portions, menus, and exercise. This is the time I can perfect my habits without rushing into a fill. I am OKAY with this.

Anyone Have Problems With Sushi Our Oysters?
indyhandmade replied to sharklove82's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Omg...I love sushi and thought I'd be giving it up forever! I've been too nervous to try it even though I dont have any restriction. Of course the rice has caused me anxiety, but the seaweed especially. Have you found you do better with soy wrappers? And how do you take small bites of sushi?? LoL -
Woot Woot Crossed Legs
indyhandmade replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great accomplishment! Congrats! This is on my bucket list of NSV. My husband accidentally saw my secret list and read the "cross my legs" and started laughing. I was SO hurt. I can't imagine he understands that this would be huge for a fat girl. -
I am researching treadmills and elliptical for home use. I would really prefer a treadmill, but my husband loves the elliptical. My biggest concern is a home machine that is strong enough to support our weight (260/270) and the constant use. What have you purchased and what are the good/bad qualities? I don't care about bells and whistles....I want quality.
