How Do I Handle...
kimmy*custis replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the one word answer idea. Not any of their business! I have no problem telling everyone who will listen what I had done so I wouldnt care if they questioned me personally. You are doing this to imporve your health and if the dont understand... -

Oh yes, I was in no pain at all ( unless I rolled over wrong, ouch in the middle of the night!) but I took naps every day, I felt so much better when I did. I walked every day as well, super important.

Can You Drink More Than You Can Eat?
kimmy*custis replied to bnorms's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes, I can drink 16 oz in a hour and I am 6 weeks out. I still can only eat small amounts, especially if it is chicken or meat , only 2 oz at a time. I can eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, yogurt etc. Seems the denser it is the less I can eat. -

Heartburn/gerd Before/after
kimmy*custis replied to ThisTimeIsIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never had heartburn before but after surgery I did! They put me on Prilosec every day for the first 6 months and...not one time have I had heartburn since. Give it a try, It will work. Best of luck to you! -
Hi girls, I had the procedure done 2/9 and I had no issues whatsoever. I think if you have the right mindset you will be fine. I really didnt even have a lot of pain, just mild, while I was in the hospital ( one day) I was tired more than anything when I got home. The only issue was trying to drink enough fluids, It was hard but I did it. Just think of the big picture and how much you are improving your health and all the "hard" times will just fly by and you will be rocking the sleeve! Best of luck to you both!

I'm On My Way To Be Sleeved Today!
kimmy*custis replied to Caradina's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Best wishes to you ! Keep us posted on your recovery! -
I also feel sorry for her but like they say, it is only a tool and you need to be strong enough to change your eating habits and keep up the exercise. I hate it when people use pregnancy and an excuse for weight gain. Yes, you do gain weight but you can keep that to a minimum if you eat correctly... not for two! I only gained 25 lbs with my pregnancy and he was 10 lbs!! I was also 200 lbs when I got pregnant so I wasnt slim. I was in my regular clothes the next week. I know everyone is different, some have bed rest and all but I feel exxesive weight gain with a pregnancy is completely avoidable if you work at it. Best of luck to you Carnie!

New - Have A Surgery Date
kimmy*custis replied to WillowsKnot's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay Willow! You will do great, best of luck to you on your new adventure! -
I went to a crab feed 2 weeks out from surgery and had vodka cranberry, no issues at all. It was mostly cranberry and I sipped it for a long time. I think if you just have one small glass and sip it over a period of time you will be ok. We are not in a prison, we are talking real life here, we are going to be in situations where we are around alcohol and need to learn how to handle it in our own way. Best of luck on your decision.

kimmy*custis replied to Mari Graves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
One day of falling off the wagon isnt going to sabotage you...just get back up on the horse and ride! You are doing great and obviously everyone can tell! You are going to have good days and bad days , just like all of us! Best of luck to you! -
I think that is a great idea, I see my scale in the bathroom and feel I need to get on it daily...it is driving me crazy. It is going in the hall closet when I get home! Congrats to you, you are doing great! I am six weeks out today and down 26 since surgery.

Sleeved On Monday 3/19 And In So Much Pain! :(
kimmy*custis replied to bella143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is completely normal, you just had major surgery! Get up and walk as much and as often as you can, it helped me tremendously! I was out shopping 3 days out, I needed to walk. Call the doc and see if there is anything else they can give you for the pain, no need to suffer if you dont need to. It will get better soon, hang in there! -
Yes, as everyone else said, sounds about right. I am about exactly the same as you as far as eating and drinking. We are losing so we are doing somthing right! I figure the slower we lose, the less saggy skin we will have. Gives us time to tone! Keep up the good work!
