Surgery On 3/27
kimmy*custis replied to missivory1980's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, what is bothering you? I was home one day after surgery and I was just tired, no gas, no real pain. I sipped my water, took my liquid vicodin ( might as well not feel any pain right?) and walked the house and slept alot. -
Yay! Welcome to the losers bench! Best of luck on your recovery! I am glad you are doing well, keep us posted on your journey!

Yay! I am glad you are doing well. I was the same, I was only tired the first week, after that I was ready to go! For everyone waiting to get their sleeves, dont be afraid, it will be a challenge but a good one. Everyone is a bit different, maybe not have as easy a time as some of us but it does get better...soon! I think if you have a positive attitude it works wonders. This is a life changing surgery, there will be ups and downs, happy and sad times but the end result will be amazing! Best of luck to the sleevers coming up! -
I havent had bread but I have had the bimbo toasted bread, at about 3 weeks out, and it is yummy. I put egg salad or chicken salad on it...very good.

kimmy*custis commented on mrsteacher's blog entry in Sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Mexico
I am sooo excited for you! Trust me, you wont be worrying about putting on makeup etc...you will be too tired. I only brought a large tee, undies and a large pair of pj pants and some socks. I had my phone charger, gas-x, a band to put my hair up and chapstick ( didnt need gas-x by the way) I may be a bit different cause I was only 30 minutes away from my house but trust me , you wont be needing much. Keep us posted on your recovery and prayers your way! -

Medications Immediately After Surgery?
kimmy*custis replied to DanityChai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doc should have gone over your meds with you and have them either converted to liquid or have them dissolved in a spoon of water if possible. Sometimes they have you discontinue them for the two weeks and start up again after your first post op visit. I only had blood press meds and I was able to dissolve and swallow. Tasted nasty but it was only for two weeks. -

I Had My Sleeve Yesterday
kimmy*custis replied to anngee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad you are doing well! Hopefully you can go home soon! Keep us posted on your recovery. -
No, I have had all kinds of vegies, prepared all different ways and no issues. I have tried tons of different foods and not one has been a problem. All you can do is try it again in a week or so and see if it is actually the onions. Good luck!

Are you working out? If so, you are building muscle and losing fat and muscle weighs more. I was thinking the same thing till I started taking measurements and realized I am losing inches. Give it a try.

Can I Have Corn? What About Coconut? Why Or Why Not?
kimmy*custis replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had corn several times but no coconut yet. I would call the Dr and ask for sure, good luck! -
I would say no. It says dry toast or crackers. I personally am almost 7 weeks out and have had very little carbs at all, maybe a bite or two of potatoes and maybe a piece of toast. I made tacos for the family the other day and made myself a tortilla-less taco, 2 spoons of refried beans, spoon of taco meat, and cheese, tomatoes and onion, it was soooo good, I didnt miss the tortilla at all and I used to make the yummy fried ones! I never have room for any carbs anyway after eating my protein and vegies.

Dealing With Eating With The Family And Bad Manners Since Surgery
kimmy*custis replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you need to sit down and have a family meeting. There is no excuse for the step daughter to throw food at you and I cant believe the husband didnt handle that situation. I have two stepdaughters and they have never disrespected me, my husband would have blown his top. There is no reason you cant have a normal dinner out just because you cant eat as much and as fast. We go out all the time and I have no problems at all. It does help that my 10 year old step daughter eats super slow so we kinda stick together...lol! Best of luck, get that meeting scheduled and set some rules in place.
