  1. I agree with you 100% , thanks for sharing, no flaming from me!
  2. Just checking in with all my fellow Feb 9th sleevers to see how you are all doing? I am great, no issues at all. Down 30 lbs since surgery, 45 total and down two pant and shirt sizes...woo hoo!
  3. Oh yes, I feel that all the time. I couldnt do it though, I wouldnt want to embarass them. I will bring it up if a conversation comes up, lets say in the food aisle of the store. Maybe they ask me about a certain product and I explain I dont eat that anymore because I had weight loss surgery, it is amazing the responses you get and I tell them how easy it was, where I got it done and if they want any info I will tell them.
  4. I am also 8 weeks out ( in 3 days) and I can eat about the same amount...sometimes. It just depends. I was at my 2 month appt today and they said I am doing great , even with the foods and amounts. I have been using my fitness pal and being honest and I showed her. Last night I had probably 1/2 lb of diablo shrimp ( shrimp only) and I ate it over 1 1/2 hours and she said that is fine. If it is chicken, I can only eat a small amount at a time. The denser it is the less I can eat.

    Drain Removal Question

I had mine out the day after surgery before I went home. He ( he was a hottie by the way...lol!) told me to take in a deep breath slowly and he pulled it out. It did feel weird, didnt hurt at all, hard to explain, just felt like he was moving the insides around a bit while pulling it out. It only took him 5 seconds.

    What Are You Looking Like?

I am going to be 2 months out on the 9th and I am down 47 lbs, 32 since surgery. I went from a size 20 jean to...last night I bought a pair of size 14's!!! Most of my pants I have now are 16's but they are getting too big ( darn huh?) Yes, I am happy with my results so far and people do notice all the time. I have no problem telling them what I did too, I tell everyone that will listen!

    Pickles/relish - When Can I Have?

I dont see why not, how much are you really gonna use in that small amout of tuna? Its not like you are eating cups of it, I say go for it, if it helps you get your protein in.
  9. Woo hoo, I am happy for you! Best of luck with your recovery

    Seder Meal

You did great, just what we are supposed to do. We can have treats every once in a while, just in small portions. If we deny ourselves we may fall off the wagon persey. I do the same, if it something I know I shouldnt have much of I have a couple bites and I am full and over it. Craving gone! ( The lamb sounds wonderful by the way, I dont get it much since my family doesnt like it)

    Post Op Question

I had my first glass of wine at 5 weeks out, doesnt taste as good to me right now tho! I wanted to go back to work about a week out but my doc wouldnt release me till 3 weeks out and I did fine. I too have a desk job, am able to get up anytime I need to and have access to water/food all day so they agreed. The doc wanted me to take the full 6 weeks, I was going crazy at home after a week!

    Caffeine

Mine "suggested" not having any caffeine , not a no in my book! I started coffee again at 2 1/2 weeks, and I only do 2 cups a day. I have had no problems at all.

    Surgery Date Before Insurance Approval?

I never had to ask about approval with my insurance so maybe yours is the same. I went for my first visit to the bariatric clinic on Oct 20th,2011 and they were wanting to do the surgery the first of December! Some Dr's offices just know how to work the approval game better than some.

    The Weight

I thought the same thing but I am doing ok. It does get easier with the solid foods, at least I think it is for me. I fill up quicker and with less with the solids, especially chicken. You are doing great...keep up the good work!

Beginning Of The Rest Of My Life

I had steel staples till my 2 week post op visit, then the steri-strips. She said they would come off in a week or so...not...it was 2 to 3 days! I think if you have no seepage you are ok. I was on liquid the first two weeks, then soft, like eggs at three weeks, maybe you are eating too soon. I tried applesauce and thinned yogurt first and progressed quickly after that. Best of luck to you!

    8 Days Post-Op...incision Question

I was told nothing over 10 lbs for the first 2 months.I have 5 incisions, and the large one did take a bit longer to heal. I will be 8 weeks out on the 9th and they are healed, can see them but healed. I irritated the larger one a couple times over doing it...it lets you know for sure. I would take it easy with any lifting for the first two months...seemed to work out perfect.
  23. The way I look at it, you dont detach yourself from food, just the amount and what type. I thought it was going to be harder than it has been. Your tastes will change, some of the things you loved you may not like anymore and vise-versa. I havent denied myself anything since the surgery ( I wasnt much of a sweets person so that part was easy) If I felt like a "cheeseburger" I had a slice of cheese melted on 1/2 of a 1/4 lb patty with what ever condiments I normally used. It took me an hour to eat but the craving was gone...and I got some protein in! I believe unless you drink high calorie beverages every day you will be fine. I cant eat enough of anything to get the huge amount of calories needed to gain weight. My husband came home the other day with a slice of cheesecake from his work...I had two small bites and I was over it. Dont be so hard on yourself and be patient...it will all fall into place for you with a little time and patience.
