    Confused....Need advice?

    Hello there OP!! I have the same issue. was banded 09/02. I dont know y people get defensive about those of us who stall and have a harder time losing. Im here for ya. We are in the same boat! I was told by my surgeon that the healing period is about 2 weeks and that healing does not stall your weight loss and that a lot of surgeons tell their patients that so they go easy the first month and not freak out if they dont lose cause some people have bodies that take a while to kick start their way to weight loss. I am a slow loser, but I use myfitnesspal to keep track of everything I eat. My surgeon does a low carb diet, which is what I have been doing for years. So no biggie. I was told to get no more than 1,000 cal per day. 50-60grams of Protein a day and less than 40g of carbs. For me and I hate this, but I have to calorie load every 7 days or so. So under 1,000 for 6 days then on the 7th day up it to 1,500. Then I lose weight. It works for me and it sucks cause this is what I had to do before I got the lapband and I thought the lapband would eliminate the yo-yo but apparently it was just wishful thinking. I work out about 4 days a week. Cardio for about an hr 3 days and weights 3-4. I hate cardio. its boring! lol! I am trying to tone up a bit since I've lost a bit of weight. Also I work out intensly then take 3-4 days off every month. Usually it coincides with my menses. Especially if I do a lot of weights. A few days off lets your body catch up and then burns fat. I read that somewhere. I've done this for years. Yes its totally unfair that some of us have to jump thru hoops just to lose weight. I just wanna eat good and work out and the weight come off, but for me thats not how it works and I envy the people who have it good. some people need motivation and cant get in the gym or wanna cheat on their diets. I love the gym and hate junk food, but my body is my enemy. I eat a great diet and I use to work out 7 days a week and the scale would move about 1-2 lbs every 2-3 weeks!! Its depressing.
  3. I have officially declared war on myself. It's not pretty. Its gonna be bloody and either way I'm gonna be hurt. Can I say I am hating my lapband, my surgeon, my diet and my stupid stupid body! yeah, total hate fest here. if you cant handle it move on. Anyhoo...I was banded 09/02/11. I've been dieting, working out. Was instructed by my surgeon that there healing period is one week and I should be losing at least 1-2 lbs a week. I lost 4-5 lbs the first 3 days or so then stopped. The scale has gone up 2lbs and down lbs, but hasnt wavered from the same 2 lbs! I am suppose to be under 1000 calories a day and not to exceed 1200. Fine, I'm not hungry anyway. So i've been eating low carb, low calorie foods. At least 60grams of Protein. I do cardio and weights. Yeah yeah I know muscle weighs more than fat, o.k. Sooooo on saturday I say forget it. I had a 50 buck gift certificate to a restaurant and went out with my family. I ate till I was stuffed, drank some wine and later ate a small dairy queen blizzard. well well, I hop on the scale the next morning expecting to gain 5lbs. Well to my surprise I lost 4lbs over night?!?!? I dont know where the pounds went or why. So now I'm confused. Normally I cannot lose with 2500 calories and I've tried 1500lbs in the past then once I have a cheat day, BAM! pounds fall off. So am I doomed to do this forever?? I got the lapband to stabilize my weight loss. No tricks or crap like this. This is how it was before the lapband. I am not that hungry. I get a fill tomorrow. I have to force the 1000 calories. What happens with the fill and i'm down to less calories and I have to choke down food to get more calories in order to lose?? Anyone experience this? This is so depressing. I thought starvation mode didnt apply to us?? I'm confused, angry and heartbroken. I dont want the yo-yo- calories and binging every 10 days to lose weight. I felt like crap after I ate so much on saturday.

    I hear ya Chrissy! But good news folks I got a fill on tuesday and the weight is falling off. I don't know what is going on. I was 281 on Tuesday and now 275!!! Maybe it's the liquid diet? Hmmm

    HELLLLLOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Septembers! I am feeling sooooo good. Normally I am a sour puss, but not today. My hubby is in the hospital again and I'm trying to keep my head up. I am down to 275! 275! Woot! Since my fill the weight has been falling off and I've worked out twice this week. Im trying to step it up but hubby's health issues take up all my time for now. Hopefully he will be home sunday.
  6. Count me in too. Also have u noticed the serving sizes are huge. I went to a cafeteria and they had 12 and 16 oz sizes for oatmel. My god I filled the 12oz half way and got so full. I was thinking who can eat 12 or 16 oz of soup, grits or oatmeal????
  7. HELLLLLO!!!!!!!!!!!! Feeling great! I am so happy I got a fill. The weight is just falling off. I dunno if its the liquid diet again or what! But im so happy!!!

    Soo i think part of the reason

    I cannot recommend making a food diary enough. If you are unsure how many calories you are taking in use myfitnesspal and the other sites like it. It gives the calories and everything!!

    I got my fill yesterday and I feel fine and fuller. Hopefully I will start losing. A pound a week sounds like heaven! I have lost about 2 lbs since Saturday.
  10. Got my first fill and feeling good yesterday. I now have 3 cc's in my band. Now I gotta work out today somehow. Maybe a walk?? I've lost a few more pounds since Saturday. Thank god.

    I was banded on 09/02 I had my first fill yesterday and I too have been following a strict less than 1000 cal diet but have been struggling with losing. I hope the fill work for us!!

    Got my first fill and it was painless! I ache kinda but I'm on liquids for 2 days the mushies for 2 days. Then back on regular food.

  15. I think it depends on age and health too. My gall bladder was removed at 19. 15 years ago and to me the lapband was worse due to the gas and internal soreness. My gallbladder and gall stones were out and I was up and hanging out 3 days later. Lapband took me 5 days to feel normal.

    Any surgery is risk but yeah I read that article too but the lapband surgery isn't like having a kidney removed. I had knee surgery at an outpatient place by one of the best surgeons in the country. It all depends IMO on the dr who is performing it. I wouldn't dare go to that place with all the deaths. Somethings not right there. I had to have outpatient asap cause I had to return to work in 4 days and have a hubby to care for. Of course I've had lots of diff surgeries so going under the knife doesn't bother me at all.

    Me too Lisa. I get a fill tomorrow and hope this will awake things up, but the tricking my body to lose sucks. In the past I've upped my calories slighty everytime. Then I got to 2000 a day and then I gained weight. So I cut to 1500. I lost a few pounds then I was stuck for 2 weeks again!! I went up to 1800. I lost a few then started to gain. I dropped to 1100. Lost a few pounds...repeat!!! I don't want this kinda weight loss. I don't want to obsessed over every calorie I put in my body. I eat clean. Low salt too. No processed foods. No sugar. Low carbs. If I knew I had to pull yo-yo dieting then I wouldn't have gotten a lap band. I want to eat 1000 calories a day. Not force myself to eat more when I'm not hungry. So I'll see how it goes with the fill but if I'll eat less then I don't see how I'm gonna lose!!!
  18. I hate my body. Just hate it. I hate my stupid metabolism. I cant lose at 2500 calories. I cant lose at 1000 calories. I just dont know what to do. I'm not hungry, but my body stalls. I got the lapband to lose weight and its not happening.

    Your special 'cheat' day

    I have currently declared war on my own body. i had a cheat day saturday. I got banded 09/02/11 and lost a few lbs within the first few days and nothing after. So saturday I ate like almost 2000 calories and normally I eat around 1000. In 24 hrs I lost 4lbs. I dunno. My cheat days help me lose weight for some reason. I hate my metabolisim. So every 2-3 weeks I guess I'm gonna have to cheat.

    I';m in texas and had a surgical center. It was a great experience. Was the deaths from the same doctor or different ones? Who did you hear this from? On the news or word of mouth??

    Thank you Kelly!! My dr is saying no more than 1200 but I work out 4-5 days a week so I think that's too low for me. Yesterday I ate way over that and I lost 4 lbs overnight!!! I hate my body, just hate it.

    Ugh I am so tired. WTF? I feel like I'm gonna pass out seriously. Maybe not enough calories? I dunno. I just want to crawl into bed and sleep. I'm having a hard time getting up in the morning too. I've never felt like this before. Kinda scary, but I just dont want to go over 1200 cal. My dr told me I shouldnt go over that much. UGHHHH!
  23. Oooook I'm sooooo confused. Last night I went off the reservation. I ate a spinach salad(good). A few bites of sausage(good) and a small piece of lasagna(not so good) and some bread! Uh oh!!!' nothing got stuck. I was just in pain. I also had a glass of wine and ice cream. So I'm thinking oh hell there goes my weight. So this morning I hope on the scale and I'm down 4lbs?!?!! Uhhhhh what is happening with my body???

    First fill on the 27th! Feeling good. I can eat soft solids now. I haven't lost anything since 4 days post op!!
  25. Exactly sharilo! my surgeon said that I should not stall, but I have. i'm so angry!!! I havent lost a pound since 09/06. I've worked out all this week and nothing. I'm seriousy regretting this. I thought this would help be lose faster. I'm at the same level I was before I got the lapband. Next tuesday I get a fill, so hopefully that will help somehow.
