  2. Hi there folks! Anyone every try Optifast or Medifast either before or after they had lapband surgery. I'm not talking about pre or post Op just before you got the band or after you have been approved to return to eating solids? Did it work for you? oh for those who dont know what those are. Opti and medifast is a supervised plan where you drink shakes as Meal Replacements all day or some programs have it where you drink 3-4 shakes and then have a low calorie/low carb meal for dinner and a few Snacks. I'm thinking about doing this.

    Ok I barely got any info from my surgeon. Everything I learned was thru my own research and what I've learned here. Never heard the subject of bandster hell or anything like that from my surgery center. I have been one of the lucky few I guess to not be hungry since being banded. I'm on my 2nd fill now but probably could have done without another one. I'm just stalled. Didn't know that was gonna happen. I've been banded a month and a half. I'm gonna start working out 3x a day and trying to get to 1000 calories a day to see if that helps.

    Thanks! I just got a fill so I'm all about shakes and trying to do 3-4 a day plus one good meal.

  6. Currently researching a possible link between body composition and weight loss. I have mostly all belly fat. It seems we tend to lose slow and have insulin problems. Hmmmm

    Im interested but my food is on myfitnesspal. Please send me the spreadsheet. I can tell you what my diet consists of. Protein shakes, tuna, baked chicken, and squash or spinach. That's about it and water of course. Oh and eggs too. In my experience men usually lose weight a lot easier than women. My husband can sneeze and lose weight!! Lol

    Yup fill PA done made me mad!!

    I had my 2nd fill yesterday and it was painless. I have gained 5lbs since my cheat day on Sunday. Today I think I am down 2lbs, but really I dont know anymore. The scale at the fill center says i'm 280, but I know 1lb of that at least was what I was wearing but whatever. I've noticed during the day I am at least 2lbs heavier. Anyhoo...The PA questioned what I ate and how I worked out and sounded like I was lying! I was deeply hurt and offended. It's bad enough I'm a slow loser and one cheat day sets me back a week. I dont need anyone else making me feel like I'm not working hard. I am. I've never worked this hard ever trying to lose weight. She said it would almost be impossible for me to eat less than 1000 calories and work out 4-5 days and be the weight that I am. I should be losing 4-8lbs a month. for my size it should be 6 punds a month. She told me to bring a print out of what I'm eating for a week for my next fill. Whatever. Ugh I'm so mad. yeah I should weigh 274, but guess what? My body SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully liquids for a few days will help. I'm out of answers. I'm so confused. If I upp my calories and that doesnt work then I'm going to what I know. Ultra low carb high calorie diet. I lost consistantly by not counting calories but carbs. I count both now and it is killing me. So yeah she made me feel like a failure. I guess I am. I am so cranky lately and on edge. I dunno what the band is doing to me??? Is it the lack of food. I dunno? something has to change. Something has to give, but I dont know where to start.

    I wish that eating 800 calories a day and feeling weak and tired was the simple formula it's not. I asked time and time again what about starvation mode??? I was told by several people even on here that some believed it was a myth. My own surgeon said starvation mode doesn't effect lapband patients! Well here I am burning 300-400 calories a day working out and another 2400 just by breathing and living. Then eating 800 calories a day!! U do the math. Now we are being told to eat more??? Confused? Umm hello??? Yeah!!!

    Spaghetti squash is easy! Cut in half and bake for 40 min rind side up. Let cool a little then with a fork scrap the insides. It makes very thin like angel hair pasta.

    Oh yeah no one wants to gain but let me tell you. I had one cheat day on sunday and now have gained 5 lbs! So if gaining is gonna throw u off the lapband wagon then don't do it. Don't let the band make you miserable like me!! Then you go for a follow up and they chastise you for not losing enough!!!
  15. Indeed stroganoff this sucks hard!!! I've been an angry b**** since being banded. I don't know why my mood is swinging? Perhaps its the lack of calories or what. I don't have a clue but something has to give. I'm even evil at work which is shocking.

    Hey cat!! I had my 2nd fill today. My first fill was 2 weeks ago. I've found that most of the surgeons here in the dfw have real strict guidelines regarding diet and calories. I was told under 1000 is ideal. I am so weak and tired though.
  17. Had my 2nd fill and the PA made me feel worse that I do. In the course of a few days I've went from 275 to 280 today. My lady fill weigh in I was 281. So to them I've lost one pound. When I told the broad what I ate and how much i am working out she looked at me like I was lying. She said there is no way one cheat day would cause so much weight gain and even still I should weigh less. Next time I have to bring print outs of what I eat on MFP. So angry!!!! According to ...

  18. So I'm up and decided to weigh myself. I've gain another pound. 4lbs in 2 days??? WTF! I give up. One cheat day??? Really ?!?! Really?!? I've bee. Taking water pills too. Drinking water and I'm working out today. I'm at a loss as to what to do.

    Almost One Year Lap Band Anniversay

    Ok this cant be right it says I burn 2455.41 a day? So for the OP 1550 is very low. maybe they did some other kind of test?? There is no way by doing nothing I burn so many calories. If so I would lose more weight.

    I will always tell people to proceed with caution. If you think you can do it without the lapband then go for it! I was sucessfull without it. Then I got preggo and gained weight back. So ultimately it's your decision.You know yourself more than anyone in the world. For me, since I didnt have food issues the lapband has not been anything that has changed how I lose weight or the rate I lose or anything. It's par the course. The lapband just limits how much I eat and thats about it. A really expensive appetite suppresant! LOL! If you are an overeater, need motivation to get started on better eating habits etc, or looking for something to suppress your appetite then it may work for you. But dont believe for one second that the only reason someone fails is cause they don't follow the rules or not use the band as a tool. You can do all that and still fail. The band does not work for everyone! Some people have serious emotional issues with food and feel cheated that they cant eat certain things. I've seen this in bandsters too. Then they come to resent having the band. Or like me, a slow slow loser that thought the band would help increase her weight loss. So good luck with whatever you choose. I would use the band as a last resort. I've tried every diet out there almost and nothing has increased my metabolisim or help me lose weight except a low carb lifestyle. The lapband was my last hurrah!

    Day 2 after cheat day. Hello 4 lb gain!

    Oh I've been on myfitnesspal for a month now. I can not help but log everything! I'm not hungry. I eat about 800 calories a day. No fast food, not outside food. I mostly make my own dinner. I usally do a shake for breakfast due to time,then maybe a shake for lunch or some soup or chili or tuna. Then for dinner I eat a veggie and a protein. I am into Low carb for sure. I dont pay attention to fat. i dont get that much and low carbers usually don't count fat cause to be honest unless its saturated fat then some fat is good. I dont over eat. I have my second fill today, but only cause I lost 4lbs when I got my first one. So I wanna lose these 4lbs. I actually have to make sure I eat cause I'll go a whole day and not eat if im careful. I wasnt a big eater before the lapband. Before I got preggo I lost about 60-70lbs on my own, but it was hard. Once I hit about 273 I started to stall bad. 2 months later I got pregnant. I thought the lapband would help me and increase my weight loss. I'm a slow slow loser. Oh I've been working out off and on for about 3 years now. I currently work out 5 days a week. hard cardio, I strength train too 3 days out of the 5. Ive been told to eat more calories but my surgeon says less than 1200. Before the band when i was eating 2000 or so a day I still lost very very slow and not consistant. Before I didnt weigh myself everyday. I would do it once a week. I'm trying not to weigh twice a day, but I feel if I dont then how can I adjust or know how i'm doing?? I use to measure, but that drove me crazier than the weigh ins. I would measure my stomach and overnight I would grow or lose an inch depending on whatever whim my body feels like torturing me that day. I measured my legs and the same thing, just up and down and up and down. So I gave up on that. I'm a type A person. I look for results. If I can gain 4 overnight I find it downright cruel that I cant lose 4 overnight. Nope. My body is evil it adapts to working out and dieting quickly. It heals quickly. I had a c-section and was healed and you couldnt even tell a month later. My lapband scars are almost gone. I just want to be normal. No crazy refeeds. No stalling for 2 weeks then mysteriously lose 3 lbs. No killing myself in the gym to the point of exhaustion and the inches not melting away. I've never been this cranky before. I'm down right miserable. I've been on diets and stuff before, but never felt this crazy!! I'll try to drop the scale for now. I wish I could just get rid of it, but my husband has to weigh himself everyday for health reasons. But I do have a weigh in today for my fill and I know I'm gonna be upset. *sigh*

    Feeling Sad...

    Well i'm here with ya too, but I'm out 6 weeks and only lost the first week after surgery. Do u use myfitnesspal to track calories and excersize?? I do, I'm jedi9393. Lets have our pity party together! lol I am an angry, angry bandster. My surgeon told me that I should be losing regardless of surgery date and what not. so go figure. 1-2lbs a week so far has been BS. Sorry, but thats the truth for me,
