Most women make the mistake of not doing free weights. Weight machines are ok, but get some free weights. I dunno if you belong to a gym or not but skip the fluff machines and get a personal trainer if you are unsure. There are online guides you can google too. I hate, hate cardio. I have to force myself to do it. I love lifting. I'm a strength train junkie. the way the body takes to it is amazing.

Texasbandit replied to TheRealSouthernBelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm...I think people are on a need to know basis. I've told my hubby and neice cause we live together. My sister-in-law knows. My mother in-law and thats about it. I havent told my family. I didnt want them to worry. I will get around to it eventually. I know they will have a ton of questions and I have so much gas I'm not in the mood. -

Mznelly have u weighed yourself??? I have and I've been losing at least a pound a day. So go weigh in. I can't burp. It just swells up and goes back down. Try gas x or anything else I suggested on my previous post. Breathing deeply in and out has helped. Maybe constipation makes it worse I dunno, but on day 2 I was having my doubts if this was a good idea. It has been better these past 2 days. I couldn't even get down water with out gas pains. Now I can drink. I know being patient sucks but it slowly gets better, heating pad can work also. -

My gas pains strike when I'm lying down the most. At night I try to lay on my left side. It helps for me to stretch too. I thought I was doing fine. I'm seriously constipated!!! I had a sharp pain this evening and pain killers help dull the nerves. Walking does seem to help though. My problem is I don't burp at all. It swells in my chest but hardly nothing. I have been farting but I wish it would move a bit more. -

Hi irc! I've been told to walk, walk, walk to help move the gas. I've been walking and it's helped a little. Not enough for me so this is what I have been doing: stretching my torso and upper body as much as I can. This helps ease my back pain. Rocking back and forth on the toilet. That helps push out the gas too. Taking gas x helps a little. Eating hot food or drinks eases it a bit too. The biggie is taking my liquid pain killer. It dulls the nerves and knocks me out at night. I also suggest bending at the waist while standing. I swear this is many times worse than pregnancy. -

Hi I survived work and it was better than expected!! I had 3 or 4 gas pains but they were brief. I feel better, still not hungry. Just thirsty!! -
my diet is clear liquids for first 2 days then day 3-4 I started Protein shakes and creamy thin Soups and jello.. day 5-6 I can have applesauce. Day 7-8 I can have pudding. Day 9-10 I can have thin oatmeal. days 11-14 I am on full liquids and mushies. I get my post 2 week meal plan after my first appt on the 15th. My first fill is on 09/27. So far i'm not hungry at all. Gas is a killer, I feel better today. Atkins shakes are the bomb!!!!! No bad aftertaste. I can do one shake a day for lunch, Jello for a snack and then at dinner I eat less then half a bowl of Soup.

for some reason i cannot get a ticker. It just stays on the same screen when I select one...oh well. Well I started all my Insurance stuff in feb of this year. I was 317 or 318. I was required 6 months of weightloss appointments. Sunday August 28 was the start of my pre-op diet I was 304. Then I had my consult with my surgeon and I weighed 298. Surgery was on 09/02/11 I weighed in at 290. I weighed myself today and I am 283. I dunno what my goal is. I'm trying to take baby steps. So my next goal is 270. I was around that weight before I got pregnant sept 2009. The smallest i've been during my adulthood I think is 235 when I was 24 or so. I'm 35 now. I look smaller. even I noticed it. My incision sites are swollen and my tummy looks bloated but I cannot wait till I can hit the gym!!

Morning all, back to work today. I hope I do alright. Last night thank god for painkillers I slept half the night. Part of the night I got a few gas pains, but they went away and I was back to sleep. I plan to walk mostly at work today. The gas is slowly getting better, but not fast enough. Thank god I have a easy job!!!! On the positive I am down another 2 lbs since yesterday. -

Cakelly I hear ya. I walked around the store today for an hr, cleaned my house and stuff. Just trying to get back to normal. I really miss my 16 month old. He is here but I can't hold him or pick him up. I tried holding him today and he kicked me in my port and I doubled over in pain. He says mama and reaches for me but I have to tell him no. I know this is temp but I can't wait till 10 days and I can hold my son. So far I'm tolerating all waters and juices. It hurts less. The gas x is helping a little. I can sleep lying down so i know that's good. I'm taking one day at a time -

Gas x. The tongue dissolvers are better than the chewabLes. Some people don't have gas pains as bad as others. My gas is moving around but I feel and look bloated . I guess walking helps but how can u walk when you are in so much pain. I'm taking miralax for the constipation. I have to go back to work Wednesday and I did walk a lot today but it seemed to help maybe a little but when I was walking I would get hit with sharp pains. At this point I guess I'll just wait it out. Nothing is helping enough. -

Today I plan to get out and walk. I feel a lot better today than I did yesterday. I'm tired of being in the house. It's actually nice outside today and under 100. My gas pain is in my sides and upper back too. I've been rocking back and forth like a mad woman. The rocking helps the gas. I've been doing chewable vitamins since day one. I drank water today and it doesn't hurt as much. I've lost 4lbs since the day of surgery. Since preop diet which was about 6 days and post op, I'm down 20 lbs. So about 20lbs in 10 days. -

I'm 2 days post op and I'm with you determined!! I'm here! I feel the same. I don't know if I can return to work like this on Wednesday. Drinking scares me. I have a 16 month old and my hubby is threatening to call the hospital. I'm walking, pacing, punching, everything to move the gas. Not working. I have a high tolerance for pain. This is crazy!! This is misery. I just want to sleep and never wake up!! -

This is my 2nd day and I'm in so much pain. The gas is killing me!! Seriously. I've been trying to walk around my house but every drink I take makes me feel like my stomach is gonna explode. No nausea just pain around my diaphragm. If it wasn't for this site I would be clueless. My dr. Didn't say anything about this. My incision spots don't hurt. No bm and no appetite. I feel so weak. I don't wanna be a downer but everyone made it seem not that bad. Brace yourself! -

I've been trying to walk around the house. Going outside isn't an option. I'm in Texas and it's hot. I'm really sleepy though and I'm trying to eat some broth but can't get it down without pain. -

Ok people. 2nd day and i think the gas is moving more. However I'm still in pain. I'm trying to stay hydrated but drinking makes my gas worse and it hurts going down. Is this normal???
