6 Days Post-op, Is It Ok To Take Nyquil For Cold?
keybold64 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my post-op recovery has been nearly perfect - and then last night I come down with a nasty head cold. I took a 1/2 dose of Nyquil before I took the time to consider if that was a good idea or not... it kind of burned going down. I know we can't take aspirin/ibuprofin type things after surgery, but I've never heard anything about Nyquil. Does anyone know if it's ok this early after surgery? -
I'm with DebiC - I don't care if some people can still handle soda after VSG or not, I've already resigned myself to the fact that I will never have it again and at this point I couldn't care less about it.

What a simple but great idea! Can't wait 'til I get to the pureed stage, definitely gonna do this one! -
Welcome KDB and SunshineMom2! I've only been on VST a few months myself but I'd love to help in any way that I can - I just had my surgery on Tues (12/27) and so far so good! I'm having no problems at all and feel really good! Good luck to you both

Drinking With A Timer
keybold64 replied to Countess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Clasica - my surgery date was 12/27 so I know exactly what you mean - Wed & Thurs I was using the timer thing but now today I just kind of did a little at a time without the timer and so far it's been fine. There would have been no way I could get all my liquids in doing just one ounce every 15 mins. I'm actually excited that I get to add Protein shakes tomorrow, I'm already getting sick of the SF Jello and popsicles! P.S. I'm from the Mpls area as well! Where did you have your surgery? -
How Long Did It Take To Lose The Weight Gained From Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
keybold64 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone - I was just sleeved on 12/27 so I'm only two days out, but I'm still up 6 lbs from my surgery date weight. I know it's from all the fluids and gas they pump you with in the hospital but I thought I would have dropped those excess pounds by now? How long does it normally take? Thanks -

Thanks everyone - I guess I'm not going to worry about it too much since it will surely drop off soon (I hope?!) -
I'm sleeved and home - wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be so I'm happy for that

Can't believe the big day is almost here - getting sleeved tomorrow 12/27 Don't think I'll get a wink of sleep tonight but I have a feeling I'll be getting plenty tomorrow. Good luck to the rest of the December sleevers having surgery this week!

Surgery In A.m.! A Little Freaked Out!
keybold64 replied to medicgipson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is tomorrow, too! Yes, I'm still nervous but it's more of a calm nervousness at this point. For me, I think I'll just be sooooo relieved when it's over that I'll be able to handle whatever comes after that. I hope it goes that way for you, as well. Good luck! -
3 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery & Shakes?
keybold64 replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Right now (pre-op) I really like the Premier chocolate shakes from costco (pre-made with 30g protein) but I've heard from a lot of people that things you liked before surgery you won't like after, so we'll see Do you have any of the unflavored Protein powder from unjury? I've heard people mix that in with their Water or other liquids to get protein if they can't tolerate the shakes. Good luck - hope you find something that can keep down! -

Question Regarding Skin Bouncing Back After Gastric Sleeve Surgery
keybold64 replied to blackanese25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's very interesting about the Vitamin E - is it known to help with loose skin issues? Is there a reason you took it at night? I think I'm going to start doing that! -
Congrats to you! I'd love to be able to welcome you to the Loser's Bench but I haven't had my surgery yet! Happy Healing

I'm so excited for you - and make sure to get a post-op video on YouTube once you're feeling up to it Can't wait to hear all about it! -
I love the idea as well - but I probably won't be able to participate until this time NEXT year since I haven't even had my surgery yet! LOL! But I'll be anxious to see how it works for you - good luck!

I Totally Graduated!
keybold64 replied to Candace2314's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Amazing! You've graduated AND lost almost 100 lbs - you are starting 2012 in a big way! -
Congrats on making the best decision of your life! You are at the point where I was in early Sept when I went to an informational session, I knew I absolutely did not want to go with the gastric bypass and was looking into the lap band thinking that was my only other option... until they started talking about the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I had never even heard of it, so I started doing tons of research about it online and on YouTube watching videos of other people who have had the surgery, and that was it - I knew it was the one for me! So now I'm just waiting for my surgery on 12/27 Good luck to you!

Yay! You and I have the same surgery date - there are quite a few of us December Sleevers!
