Dear Food: You Suck! ....and I Love You...
keybold64 commented on Dooter's blog entry in My Second Chance
LOL! That is hilarious! And I can tell you that for me, being almost 5 weeks out, food just doesn't have the same appeal to me anymore. I've been out to eat 3-4 times now and things that I used to love just taste "ok" to me now, and I have no desire to pig out on them anymore. I've heard other people say that as well but I never believed it would be that way for ME, but it is and I'm grateful! -
I had the same thing happen to me just a few days after being sleeved - I had taken a dose of liquid Nyquil (which ALWAYS works great for me) before realizing it has alcohol in it and that it probably wasn't a good idea... but on my one week post op visit with my surgeon I asked him about it, and he said it's totally fine to still take it. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Overly Full On Phase 2 Foods. How Do You Get Your Protein?
keybold64 replied to Kareforme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only way I was able to do it was the protein shakes - and the only ones I like are the chocolate Premium shakes from Costco (30g protein). Good luck! -

Max Amount Of Protein At One Time?
keybold64 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I thought I was being smart by adding 1/2 c. Greek yogurt to my 30g protein shake in order to get in an additional 11.5g of protein to equal 41.5; however, I thought I saw somewhere on here that the body can only process a max of 30g of protein at one time? Does anybody know for sure? I asked my surgeon about it on my post-op check up and he said that's NOT true - so now I'm more confused - who do I believe? -
Max Amount Of Protein At One Time?
keybold64 replied to keybold64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the info - I think at this point I'm going to stick with the "no more than 30g at a time" rule since I'm not super active (20-30 mins on treadmill). -
Tried A New Protein Drink Today
keybold64 replied to DebiC's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I totally agree - I tried about 5 different kinds of protein shakes prior to surgery and the ones from Costco were by far my favorite! Haven't tried the vanilla ones, I'm happy with the chocolate I also mix in a 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt to my shakes to get an additional 11.5g of protein. Plus a half banana just because I love bananas! Yummy! -

keybold64 replied to Mrs.Prisses's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Holy crap! I'd be THRILLED with 36 lbs the first month - I was sleeved one day after you and I've only lost 13.4 so far Luckily I lost about 16 lbs pre-surgery so my total is 29.6 lbs. -

Welcome, Bryan! I'm almost 3 wks post op and I know exactly what you mean - about a week before surgery I finally had to stop coming on here because it seemed like everything I was reading was about complications, etc. and it freaked me out. Needless to say, I still had my doubts about surgery right up until they put the IV in my arm, but I'm happy to say that I am SOOOOO glad I went through with it. I know you will be, too! Good luck

How Long To Start Losing Weight After Surgery?
keybold64 replied to enixon2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one week post-op. I was up 6 lbs from surgery which kinda freaked me out as well. It took a couple of days for me to drop those 6 lbs and since then I've dropped another 9 lbs. Don't worry - it will come off! -
Hi, Leslie - congrats on the 38 lbs! Yes, I've also heard that gall bladder issues are very common for WLS patients - luckily for me I had already had my gall bladder removed in 2007. From what I can remember I didn't really have any symptoms prior to my first "attack" - I was just feeling really crappy and thought I had food poisoning. Went to the ER that same day and that's when they discovered I had gall stones and then had my surgery the next week. If it's any consolation, it was a pretty easy surgery and recovery - it should be a breeze compared to VSG! Good luck!

Oh, yes! I know just what you mean - I'm exactly one week post-op so I'm still on full liquids, but I get so full so fast now that my head starts playing mind games (ie. maybe you would lose more/faster if you didn't eat/drink so much, etc.) I have to fight to ignore those thoughts because we are taking in so little as it is! It's so freaky to be seeing the weight drop when I don't even feel like I'm dieting because I'm never hungry
