Tomorrow marks the day before surgery, all clear liquids only, how will I make it?!
bromo replied to sheriah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it. Try to distract yourself by getting ready for your surgery doing things you won't be able to do for a few weeks. Just know that this is the beginning of your new life as a bandster and the road to a healthier, thinner you. -
Can Drinking stop Weight loss
bromo replied to BABYDOLL110's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you tell your doctor about your drinking prior to surgery? My doctor said no alcohol until 6 months, and then to use it sparringly. If you have an alcohol addiction, perhaps you should see a professional. The calories from the alcohol can definitely sabotage your weight loss efforts. -
Check with your doc to see if you can take some Emetrol. It is an anti nausea over the counter med that is quite effective. The nausea should subside soon regardless.

Congrats to you!! You have a great attitude and are a definite inspiration to those of us behind you. Thanks you for sharing your success and for the encouragement. Enjoy that massage!

After trying the sublingual B12 I have to agree with Corrigan. It really helps. I am taking it 3 times a week right now and can definitely tell the difference in my energy level.

To answer a question you have, yes, I am happy I have the lapband and I wish I had gotten it years ago. However, it took me a long time and a lot of thought to get to the place of actually having WLS. I weighed pros and cons and decided that the pros were more important to me than the cons. Perhaps you need to think about this a bit more and continue to investigate and weigh what is really more important to you, losing weight or food. And one thing I will underline from some posters above, you will have health problems due to your weight eventually. It happens to us all.

Sept 2011 bandsters
bromo replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't started yet, but sure wanted a cup this morning. Getting off all the diet sodas and caffeine has helped my sleeping so much, I am afraid to start with it again. -

Sept 2011 bandsters
bromo replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My calories run from 600 to 800 per day occasionally going up to 900 but not often. I eat around a cup of food each meal and have a snack of a babybel light or a low carb yogurt in the late afternoon. -
I was in Belk's department store this morning shopping for a present for my daughter. You have to walk through the regular size clothes to get to the plus sizes and on my way back through I stopped to look at a clearance rack. I wear a 22/3x right now and got rid of anything that is under a 20/2x when I moved to my apartment from my house last year. Anyway, I was looking in the XLs and found some fantastic bargin prices on some tops. I bought 5! and spent less than $25. Is it crazy to do this, or am I just being smart by collecting up a few things for a great price when I actually reach that size? Have any of you done this?

Congratulations on your preop weight loss. I am 57 and had a bmi of 45 and a comorbitity. This is the best choice I ever made in my life. Good luck to you. -
Just got back from a trip to Walmart and I found some of the Danskins things in the middle of the aisle summer sales racks. I got 2x and 1x (for went I have lost a little bit more) for very little money. Hurrah!

Brandon, good for you!! You will be amazed at how much the walking will help as time goes by. So keep it up!

Is my postop pain normal??
bromo replied to formykids2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a lot more pain than many here and it took several days for it to subside. By day 5 I realized it really was getting better. Looks like you are on day 2 after surgery which is always the worst day. Take it easy and know that it will soon be a dim memory. -
Hi, I am 57 and had my surgery in September.
-
Carol, I am glad you posted to update us and that you saw your doctor. Many people have true chronic depression, me being one, and I really need the antidepressants to have a "normal" life. Hope that this helps you to get there as well. Just keep trying and trying and eventually this will work. If you fall off the wagon, pick yourself up and get back on and don't give into failure. You can and will succeed, I just know it.

Was the Lap Band Your First Choice?
bromo replied to GoBanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For many years my oldest friend tried to get me to have a bypass. She worked for a well respected bariatric surgeon and he did not do the lapband. I thought about it a couple of times but decided that option was too extreme for me. As I started to educate myself about WLS I realized that the band was the perfect option for me. So I took steps to make it happen and am glad I did. -
Sept 2011 bandsters
bromo replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go, pugs!! You should be proud of yourself. It is hard to do but the reward will be worth it. -
Thanks for making me feel better, y'all. I don't plan on spending much money doing this or buying very much, but knowing that I will need clothes in smaller sizes and having a somewhat limited budget for them, I thought it made sense, in a crazy sort of way. Clearance racks may become my new best friend. lol

My surgery is Tuesday, I keep hearing how much pain Ill be in...is this true?!
bromo replied to sheriah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different. I had more pain than some here, but less than others. I was able to sleep just fine in the recliner but it took a couple of weeks for me to sleep in the bed (side sleeper). You should be sent home with pain meds and use them if you need them, that is what they are for. Whatever level your pain, it will start to decrease significantly around day 4 or 5 and in a couple of weeks will just be a dim memory. And it is definitely worth it. -
Congratulations and welcome. This is a wonderful board filled with intelligent and fun people and has been a great asset for learning about the lapband from real lapbanders.
-
Congratulations Cindy! That is a fantastic amount of weight to lose and you look fabulous!

bromo replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You have done a fantastic job. Many congratulations to you and big pat on the back for a job well done. You look great! -
Thanks for the tips. Tracie, I placed an order with Walmart for some Danskins. Thanks so much for that info.

Dust it off and start anew tomorrow. Remember that you got the band to change your life. Make the change to tell that slippery slope to get lost!! You CAN do this and tomorrow is new day. A lot of us know that slippery slope well, but we have the power in us to make it different this time. I know you will do it. Good luck.
