  1. I am confused by your post. So you already have the lapband but are looking for another insurance company to cover another lapband surgery? Are you having it removed? I don't think most insurances cover preexisting conditions for a while, but I could be wrong about that in some instances.

LOW CARB / HIGH PRO Yogurt

Dannon Light and Fit has a Carb and Sugar Control yogurt that comes in a 4 pack of 4 oz cups. I have only found it in Vanilla Cream and Strawberry as it seems to be a limited product. It has 40 to 50 calories and 3 carbs per cup, I think. I can't remember the protein value on it but it is in line with other yogurts.

    What my doc said today...

felicia, I am sorry that you seem to have had a bad experience with a US doctor, but a blanket statement saying they are not out to take care of you is just plain wrong. My surgeon is a lovely, caring man who has a real connection with his patients and wants the best for them. I wouldn't have had anyone else but him do my surgery once I met him. And since I am a Medicare patient which means he made a lot less money on me, I was never treated subpar in anyway. Actually, he treats me like his most special patient, as I am sure he does to each and every one. Making blanket statements and assumptions is never the right thing to do. Good Luck to you and to the OP. I love my lapband and even though I am only 9 weeks out, I am very happy with the choice I made of the lapband.

    help

By tolerate do you mean the taste or are you vomiting them up being unable to physically tolerate them? If it is just taste then try some different ones. I find Muscle Milk Vanilla Creme doesn't have much of "that" taste and Unjury unflavored doesn't either. Adding fruit and ice does help with the taste as well. Just experiment til you find something that will work for you. It is important for healing to get in your protein.
  5. I am at 38 pounds and have only gone down one size and am nowhere near the next smaller size. But like Dibley said, I was probably a larger size than I thought I was since everything I wore was tight and stretchy. It will happen for all of us eventually. But I understand the frustration of wanting to see the sizes drop as well as the pounds.

Are there any Birmingham area bandsters interested in getting together for a cup of coffee or tea?

    Be honest....

Very well said, Dave. Having lost my body weight more than once in my long life and always gaining back plus some, no diet I have ever succeeded in losing weight with was ever successful at keeping it off. At age 57, how many more chances do I have to be a normal weight and add years to the time here on earth to spend with my children and grandchildren? I am thankful that I was able to get banded at this stage of my life and know that each pound I lose this time is going to stay gone. It is worth every small bite and all that chewing. I wish I had done this years ago.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

Sharilo, I struggle with exercise as well, so you are definitely not alone. I know what I need to do, but doing it is a whole nother story. So wishing I had a friend to go to the gym with, at least in the beginning. I think I am just scared of going there and getting started alone. Dawn, congrats on your job and breaking your plateau. I learned last week that we really need to plan our eating if we are out and about. Perhaps a ready to drink Protein shake to grab on the go if you can't get in time for breakfast.

    lap band problems!

Ah, thanks Mimi for clearing that up. I was a bit confused. I hope you have good luck with finding a new doctor in your new town. I am sure it is frustrating and wishing you nothing but the best in your lapband journey.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I have struggled with making good choices this past week due to lack of planning. It was a busy week filled with lots of activies and I did not plan enough so I ate foods that were not the best choice for me. Posting this to make the committment this week to myself to get back on track and make the necessary advance plans when I am not at home to eat properly.

    Banded on Nov 11, 2011

In a few weeks this part will be a dim memory. You are on your way to a new you and that is the best thing ever. It took me until about day 5 to start really feeling better, but once I got there, the recovery was rapid. Good luck to you.

    Help! Banded on 11/11/11

Another reason I love my Center of Excellence doctor, the aftercare was and is phenomenal. You need to write up how you were treated by the nurse and send it to your physician. If he/she doesn't know how the nurses are handling you after surgery, it cannot and will not be corrected for others. I am thankful I was able to stay overnight in the hospital with caring bariatric specialty nurses.

    lap band problems!

A bit confused as well. You had surgery less than 2 weeks ago and moved to a different state in the meantime? Perhaps a trip back to where you were when you had your surgery is in order so that you can see your orginal surgeon. Sounds like you definitely need a follow up which it is time for anyway.

    No Fill Bandsters

I am early in the game but 2 months out and no fill and at this time have no intent to get one. I am down 39 pounds including pre op diet and and continue to lose around 2 pounds a week. Doctor and I agreed last week that I was fine without a fill at this time and my next appt is in January unless I decide to want a fill before then. Unless things change I will continue just as I am.
  18. Call and talk to your doctor. It may be anxiety. It can manifest itself that way. Your doctor will give you the advice you need.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

The weather was great if a little cool and the walk went well, thanks for asking, Janice. Next year I am running in the 5k for sure. That is my goal. It is a cause very dear to my heart. And raised enough money to meet my goal so that was fantastic!
  20. I did have to stay overnight but was released from the hospital in under 24 hours. I do think my doctor included my plication with the price of the lapband, as there was no difference in the price getting one or the other.

    Is Unjury Worth the Cost?

I have to correct myself here. I did repurchase the Unjury unflavored at my doctor's office again. After trying to mix in some others with things I had used the Unjury unflavored in, it just wasn't the same. So I take it all back, I will purchase again.
