Same day surgery as you, and I have been burping, burping and passing gas. Lots of it. -
Baned yesterday now what?

Trying to force liquids as I know I am not drinking enough. With broth or shakes I am doing half servings, 4 oz at a time. I just added some unflavored unjury protein powder to my water with a SF Hawaiian Punch packet. It is not too awful bad and is helping with the protein level that I need to reach. Having more shoulder pain today, and am very very sore on the left side of my tummy. Moving and coughing causes a lot of pain, but I know it will get better with time. My stomach is so sore I cannot yet wear pants on it. Hope tomorrow that changes. -
The first shower today was very nice. Even though I couldn't do the scrub scrub that I normally do, just washing my hair and getting clean was a super good feeling. Tomorrow I plan on facing my apt steps and going outside to walk. So tired of just walking around inside the apt.

I will echo what Corrigan has said. I am only 2 days post op and not quite ready to walk 2 miles like him, but have gotten the best possible care and all my questions answered at my Center of Excellence. They are comprehensive in their care and the quality of their care is superb. I am very happy with my care up until this point and know that I will continue to be pleased. Good luck to you. -
Doing well 1 day after surgery. I am having a good deal of pain on the left side, but the pain meds are doing ok with helping ease that. I think in a day or two that it will be much better. Not much problem with the shoulder gas pain, but I am trying to walk around my apt a good bit. So I am quite satisfied with the way things are going here. Thanks for the support.

Banded yesterday as well. Just trying to heal and deal with the effects of surgery and then onward to a better quality of life. Hope you can get your spirits up soon. This is brand new day in the rest of our lives. -

I have 5 very small incisions. The largest being over the port and it doesn't appear to be much over an inch. The others are tiny. -
I am home and happy. My surgery and hospital stay went well. The only thing was it was almost 5 last night before I actually got in surgery, so all day without a sip of water was pretty tough. The hospital personel were fantastic and I am blessed to have had such a wonderful doctor. I was in a fair amount of pain last night, but they kept on with different meds until we got ahead of the pain. I just took my liquid lortab after the bumpy ride home, so I know that shortly what pain I do have is going to be pretty much gone. So far I have had just a smidgen of shoulder pain and it goes away as soon as I move around, not even enough to take a tylenol for if I hadn't had surgery, so I am pretty thankful for that and hope it continues that way. No nausea at all, but they were giving me nausea meds regularly at the hospital. So all in all, I have to say that it was a fairly easy experience all things considered. I hope that alieves some fears some of you may be having, knowing that my experience was pretty easy.

Am up and getting ready to be at the hospital at 11 am. Will be spending one night and don't have a smart phone, so I will check back in tomorrow and let you all know how it went.
-
Good Luck to both of you.
-
Thanks SDBandit. Are you doing ok today? So many good posts about after surgery has made me much calmer about the whole actual surgery part.
-
Glad you posted and that your surgery went well. And good to know you are in good shape pain wise. Keep us posted on your results with this version of plication. Tomorrow I get my band with plication and am very excited about it.

I didn't do magnesium citrate by choice. lol That was the doctor's recommendation. And after relooking over my paperwork for today and the next two days, it was listed on the to do list, so I guess it is mandatory after all. Got my night shower with the Chlorhexadine soap and will do it again in the am as per the instructions. Am ready to get this show on the road. Eric I see you posting, how are you doing?

Ready to go, I am with you. Although my prediet was not completely liquid, it was mainly so. Today has not been as hard as I thought on clear liquids, maybe it is just the excitement of knowing tomorrow is surgery day is taking care of that. I just had some SF Jello when I was getting a bit hungry after drinking 4 oz of juice, so I feel better. Had done fine until the carbs in the juice. Those carbs can be wickedly evil little hunger drivers. Hope we both have a good day tomorrow and come back to post as official bandsters afterward.

Has anyone else had to do a laxative the day before surgery? My doctor doesn't demand it but recommends it and being the rule follower I am, I did it. I hope to never have to drink a bottle of Magnesium Citrate again. That being said, I am psyched for my surgery tomorrow.

Thank you RedDirtRN for the very informative post.

Good luck, eric!! On clear liquids today and will follow you tomorrow.
