Getting Water And Protein In/am I Doing This Right?
Lissa replied to hollirrose's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
:::blushing::: Thanks, LongerLife. It's easy to be positive here because most of the posters are pretty positive! It's nice to be able to tell someone that they are doing well instead of warning them that they could cause themselves problems because of xyz. And, there are worse things than sounding like a hippie! Most of them just wanted to live peacefully with one another, man! Oh, and enjoy a bit of herb, but that's a whole different forum! LOL -
You're just over 2 weeks out, right? 2 - 2 oz meals a day sounds okay, so long as you are drinking Water and trying to get some Protein in, possibly through Protein shakes. Your sleeve's capacity is TINY right now, mostly because everything in there is still swollen. I could barely eat half an egg at first. I literally ate my meals out of the little tiny glass dip bowls that hold about 2 oz...and sometimes that was too much food! You're normal as far as ability to eat. Enjoy the fast weight loss while it's still rocking and rolling. It will slow down, but we do drop a LOT of weight in a hurry at first. If you're really concerned, call your doctor, but 20 pounds in two weeks doesn't sound over the top for someone at your stage to me. Good luck...and welcome to the loser's bench!

How Far Out Were You Able To Have A Bite Of Your Faves
Lissa replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
New Life, Don't be surprised if you can only eat 1 or 2 shrimp when you do try them. They are soft, but dense. I really thought I'd have 5 or 6 small shrimp when I first tried them, but I was done after 2 of them! -
Getting Water And Protein In/am I Doing This Right?
Lissa replied to hollirrose's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
You're doing fantastic, IMO. You're meeting both your Water and Protein goals right now. As you transition to new stages in your diet, you'll rely less and less on Protein Shakes and start getting your protein from other source, but it sounds great to me. Keep on rocking that sleeve! -
Unfortunately, I do NOT know if a pill organizer is an approved container. I don't fly, so I've never had to worry about that issue. I'd rather drive for days than get on a plane. I'm a big chicken. Bwack Bwack!

More Water, less walking time. You definitely need to get in your Protein, water and some calories, but you're having a couple of issues. One, you're in the classic three week stall. Search for it here, you'll see that almost everyone has this issue. Two, muscle weighs more than fat and walking 2 miles a day definitely builds muscle. So, you're actually doing a good thing with the walking. It also will boost your metabolism and help prevent sagging skin down the road. Patience is the number one thing we all have to learn. Don't weigh yourself every day and enjoy the journey! That last one I'm learning from other posters here, like FavoredOne. It's a great lesson to aspire to learn.

I Am Afraid To Go To The Doctor

Go to the doctor! It's better to know what's going on than to live in fear! I am the voice of experience today!!! -

Yay!! I'm thrilled for you!!! -
Okay, after an EKG, blood work, 2 chest xrays, and being felt up all over. NOT half as fun as it sounds, btw! I have been cleared of a dx for blood clots. Matter of fact, my heart is in better shape than it was a year ago. The suspected blood clot is probably a pulled muscle in my calf and the shortness of breath is from pulled muscles in my abdomen. I'm the one who preaches slow but steady and apparently I didn't listen to my own advice. So now I have a doctor approved/presc...

I agree, the risks are very low, until you're the one with the problem Lissa

Congrats! I don't do airplanes, but I'm constantly adjusting my car seat belt now!

There is no monthly fee for the Fit Bit unless you want the premium membership. I just started using one this last week and I'm loving it so far... except for how it tracks stairs. I did 8 flights up and 8 flights down today and it only gave me credit for 5. Oh well, at least it's encouraging me to do the stairs! LOL

I let my coffee cool off a bit before I add the protein powder. It works fine.

I doubt that's it. But, it's now on you to make the sleeve work by adding in more exercise, or refining your diet. Our bodies seem to have "set points" where they like to hang out. Mine got stuck between 265-260 for a little over 2 months and I've fought like heck to get below that number, but the scale is now moving again. Of course, on the way up, I was between 260-265 for over 8 years. I now know that I will have to fight harder and work more to lose the weight...and I'm fully expecting to stall around 210 and have to power my way through that number as well, since I was THERE for quite some time as well. Step up your exercise and Water intake and change up your food routine, making sure you get the Protein you need. It WILL happen, but it may be very slow. However, you're not in a race and you've done an amazing job with your sleeve so far! Good luck!!

***need Your Opinions Everyone***

I also think it would be great to have a trainer who knows that there are unique challenges for someone who has had bariatric surgery. You'd understand that we're NOT being wimpy when we tell you that we don't have the strength to do something like the pull-ups mentioned above. You also would "get" that there are health issues that may not show because we've lost weight, but that still have to be addressed. And, you will get that cardio is more important, initially anyway, than pumping huge amounts of Iron. Good luck!! -
Woo-Hoo! Another Visit To Nsvtown
Lissa replied to BenisaMartim4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can definitely vouch for don't buy too many of one size. I bought a pair of size 20 jeans that are already too loose on me and, even with hot Water washing, are loose coming out of the dryer now. I'm going to skip the 18s, since the ones I tried on yesterday are barely tight and buy a pair of 16s in a week or so. But, I can now find jeans at Goodwill rather than needing to buy at regular retail! I'm really ticked off about one thing, though. I've been really working hard on the bike and walking, so now I have no clue what size undies to buy! It's not like I can go in and try them on! -
Spirit Fire, (Love the name, btw!) Be careful with carrying pills in baggies. If you ever get stopped and searched by the police for any reason, they can legitimately arrest you for having pills outside their "approved" containers. I seriously doubt they would follow through with the arrest unless it's pain pills, but a friend of mine got hassled a lot by the police at the courthouse over this.
