  1. Early post-op, it's more important to get in the liquids than the protein. Work on the liquids and do the best you can on protein. It does get easier once you're back on solid food again.

    Head Hunger

I love that it's called food porn, too. I watched a TON of food network right after surgery, but I did stick with shows where the host's taste is different from mine. Guy Fieri's recipes always make me go blech, so I watched every show he was in. I like him, but I've made three of his recipes and they didn't do a darn thing for me.

    Protein-- Ugh!

Dea, A week out from surgery, you should be concentrating on liquids anyway. Do the best you can on the Protein, but make sure you're getting the Water you need into your body. I drank a lot of broth (chicken and beef) during my first few post-op weeks. It doesn't have a lot of protein per serving, but it does help keep you hydrated, gives you a break from straight water, and is NOT sweet. I couldnt stand sweets for the first 4.5 months post-op. I wish I still couldn't, actually. Good luck! It WILL get better!
  4. I always keep a protein bar and one of those tuna lunch packets in my car or my purse. I have no refrigeration since I drive a lot. I keep telling myself I should put a cooler in the car.

    Tossing Clothes

I kept a pair of my biggest pants. When I'm feeling like I cant see the difference in my body, I go put them on and laugh as they hit the floor! Works every single time!

    What Size Am I!?

You're ourborous sized!! I kwym about weird sizing, though, although I think women's clothes are worse than men's about crazy sizing. I wear anywhere from 18 to 26, depending on who makes the clothes. Lissa
  12. I'd shout it from the rooftops if I could. No problem telling anyone and everyone about this surgery. Nay sayers, which there are not many of, get "I was literally dying. This surgery saved my life!"
  13. I saw my college age stepson last night for the first time in a few months. He came up and said he didn't recognize me until he saw my face. Lissa

  15. So, I've been at the same scale weight for nearly a month and this morning, I lost 3.2 pounds! YAY!!! I keep preaching it..don't let the scale run your life. I have lost 3 pants sizes this month, plus seen new definition in my arms, legs and waist, but that 3 pounds makes me happy, too! Happy dancing this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Absolutely Shocked!

That deserves a huge WHOOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I agree with the others. You probably need an acid reducer. You'll be amazed at how quickly that "hunger" feeling diminishes once you start taking it. You may feel fine right now, but slow down and try to drink the amount your doc recommends per hour. Your stomach nerves are pretty numb from the anesthesia and trauma, so it's very hard to feel "full" right now. My full signal right after surgery was pain in my left shoulder and it took me a few days to recognize it. If you drink too much, you may not even recognize it, but you will have pain and possibly nausea. Vomitting this early post op would NOT be pleasant.

Welcome to the loser's bench! It sounds like you had a good experience. You know the drill, walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. Rinse and repeat!

    Emotional Eating

Urban Decay, I was an emotional eater. Nowadays I find that I'm much more willing to bring up the issues and discuss them rather than eat them as I did before. I've been seeing a therapist and that has helped tons. Once you're sleeved, you cannot eat enough to eat away the issues, so you will have to deal with what's bothering you, or find another addiction, like alcohol. I don't recommend that. Exercise helps, too. Do something good for yourself while working away your frustrations.

    Middle East

I have a nurse friend who just started a job in Baghdad. She's not a sleever, but she's my bestie and is the gal who recommended my surgeon to me.

    Let's Talk Wig

I bought one because my scalp hair seemed to be thinning fast. My hairdresser gave it a cut to look more like my real hair. I haven't worn it yet, but she recommended lace front synthetic, too. It's pretty easy to put on and blends with my hair well. I do want a Katy perry blue one, though. Lissa
  22. I've only slimed once, thank goodness. I nibbled my way thru dinner at carrabas, then took a big drink as we were leaving. I was ticked to leave my dinner in their parking lot!!! Lissa
